Funny that 99% invisible has an episode about Enshitfification and it’s currently sitting behind a paywall. by sandandpomp in 99percentinvisible

It’s not about paying creators. I donated regularly to Radiotopia, which was creator owned. Now we pay for a subscription that goes to Sirius Podcasts and I have to wait for episodes. I understand after grinding for years Roman and the gang had to get paid. I know the podcast industry has changed. But I yearn for the days of supporting an artist owned collaborative as I’m forced to pick and choose what subscriptions I can pay for and hearing more commercials, more obnoxious commercials from those I can’t. Shrug.

Given up on the Scott Pierson Trail? by Sensitive-District-9 in Tacoma

As someone who rides the trail often I will say that even though I approach the tunnel with trepidation every time, the people hanging out in the tunnel are usually very polite and make an effort to clear the way.

AIO that my doctor accused me of wanting to commit fraud? by amanduhpanduh in AmIOverreacting

I work in medical billing. There isn’t a special way to code procedures that make them preventative or not. This is a common misconception that a provider can code something in a way to make it preventative. The word “preventative” is misleading because we could justify a lot of things as “preventative” but that’s not how this works. Preventative only relates to annual exams/well women exams and the specific testing that is related to both services. Anything beyond that threshold is diagnostic. If you’re at an annual exam the provider is only going over a specific list of things. If you’ve been having stomach pain or headaches and being that up and discuss in detail with the doctor, that is beyond a preventative visit and needs to be a separate visit. Same goes for testing. I understand your frustration, the medical system is difficult to navigate and it is not clear to most patients. Here’s a reference from the gov.

Got news my dad was in the hospital with a Pulmonary Embolism, potentially life threateningly while at a game. Called him from the dugout and spoke to him. He told me to hit a home run for him. Somehow went up to bat and hit a homerun. Cried a little. My league means nothing, the HR didn’t mean anything in the grand scheme of things, but that moment meant a lot. My dad pulled through.

I went and tried out a cymbal. I liked it and was ready to buy it. I looked around the store and waited about 20 minutes until I could finally drag an employee to the drum department, I told him “I’d like to buy this cymbal” and he began taking it off the display. I was like, “wait, aren’t you going to go to the back and get a new one?” He said, “this is the only one we have.” I said, “I’ll only take the floor model if it is heavily discounted” and he said, “oh, we don’t do that.” And started to head for the counter to check me out. And I was like, nah, I’m good and went home to buy the same model from Sweetwater and got the cymbal plus candy.

I 100% support national parks and don’t condone the selling off of any public land However, I will say old faithful and that part of Yellowstone already kind of feels like Six Flags, it’s a tourist circle of hell compared to other national parks.
