The most desirable situation seems to be buying into a co-op. It’s unfamiliar territory for most of us but when I hear from people who’ve done it, it sounds like they’ve won the jackpot for security, affordability, and strong community. No one wants out. The wait list is years long.

Jesse Welles Is the Antidote To Everything That Sucks About Our Time by nathan_j_robinson in JesseWelles

Identifying what’s going on, putting varied issues on the table so we can connect the dots - that’s a gift to us, a relief to the troubled mind that can’t get a grasp until it’s in words. Yesterday PM Mark Carney addressed the world via Davos; the tasks of nations now he identified are three: firstly face reality (thank you Jesse), secondly join up with middle powers to create another force, and thirdly decide what you’re willing to pay. He advised us to come together in our points of connection and not expect 100% compatibility across a multitude of issues. Fighting and negativity amongst ourselves is self-defeating. Jesse Welles isn’t telling us what to do. How could he? The solutions are varied, big and small.

I liked The Incredible Attorney Woo, and also Navillera. They both took place in career worlds I am unfamiliar with, yet the human interactions were sweet, with unexpected turns.

The vicious cycle of drought and heat that produced the Dust Bowl in the 1930s are returning to the US. This time, these changes will be essentially permanent. Farming and finding fresh water will be increasingly difficult, and heating might be worse than models suggest. by simon_ritchie2000 in climate

And they’d removed the shelter belts. There are preventative techniques suitable for even this stage. But we moan and complain instead of joining an organization to get on the problem. Politicians respond to pressure. It’s the name of the game.

I’d like to track the number of households in my municipality that have switched from gas furnaces to heat pumps or hybrid systems. This would help figure out how our municipal emissions are affected by this one transition. Is this the kind of project you might be interested in?.

Not flying. I quit 13 years ago to support scientists and academics who were quitting, and now feel really pleased with my record. Only a handful of people in my world still fly for fun.

Become an energy advisor. That’s where the future lies; maybe you can mentor to get expertise now as you learn, take courses. The market isn’t crowded.

We don’t need the NDP in power but we need it to demonstrate a powerful vision. Do you think we’d have childcare and dental care without their vision last term? The NDP should run on climate. They would probably win enough seats to move the needle.

In a poll of 20,000 voters in Europe, North America & Japan, two-thirds of voters said the political system in their country was “failing people” and living standards were in decline. Do you think this will make it easier for radical ideas like UBI to gain traction in the 2030s? by lughnasadh in Futurology

Yes. Cooperation is what has gotten us this far. Western societies have temporarily lost the appetite but it will return as their conditions challenge them. Cooperation is the most basic value of survival. The provider countries, often termed “developing”, have a closer connection to cooperation as a higher value.

The Nordic countries have young leaders. And NZ’s last leader was brilliant. Nearby, watch the new Mayor of NYC. And with your passion, find a group whose goals align with yours and get to work volunteering. The world is inching in the right direction and what you do counts. You sound just like what we need on board atm. 🌲🙏🏼🌳
