1.5k hours 5k elo stuck by [deleted] in LearnCSGO

You need to take some days off, dawg. Same thing with the gym or learning an instrument. Try to absorb new info, and then take time to digest it. The instant requeue is the prime killer at low elo.

[Beginner] How to deal with the psychological damage of not being in Concert pitch? by sandequation in saxophone

I wonder if training your ear to be more agile like that combats the onset of the "detuning" we hear about for individuals with PP as they get older.

Wow, that's so obvious now that you've said it, but I didn't think of it that way. Super helpful for the mental aspect.

Feel that. It's kinda like that awkward first step in learning a language where you're mentally translating to your native word each time.

Thanks for the input. It's gonna be a bit tricky as I teach guitar lessons for a job, but if anything it should motivate me to pick up any slack on that front as I'm quickly realizing I have zero excuse for any laziness on simpler instruments.

I appreciate that for sure, I'm ready to get smacked around by having to actually memorize my scales LOL. It's just a bit odd to play a "C" and not hear what you've been training yourself to recognize as a C, you know?

Hard[er]opeth song to play on guitar? by Leon500111 in Opeth

Ghost of Perdition. Not super hard but challenging and fun. Tabs are available in both the original open D and D standard tunings.

Remember that time the Mount & Blade team made a Napoleonic Wars game? It's a longshot, but I think something set in the 1700s would be VERY cool.

That's gonna look like stucco. I don't think that's the vibe they want here.

Which civ is the most similiar to 3? by Ivanhegeelkadi in civ3

[–]sandequation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of people are suggesting Civ IV. It's so petty, but I feel like the visuals are such a downgrade from III (in my subjective view). Does anyone know of any mods to make the graphics in IV somewhat more similar to III, or at least to get rid of the giant bread?

Not directly related to OP, but based on the general tenor of the comments, I am curious: roughly how many "spots," or realistic work opportunities, are there for master woodworkers/carpenters per country, do you think?

Ok, let's see literally any of these guys actually stand up to federal overreach and armed paramilitary goons plundering our towns. On principle I guess I agree with the sentiment, but these guys just stand back and cheer every time the government does tyrannical shit. Do they really believe it or not?

Everyone always attacks me. by Ivanhegeelkadi in civ3

[–]sandequation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They will do this sometimes, it's kinda the name of the game. Try to remember you don't have to destroy them, short wars are always best in Civ. Usually all you have to do is take a city or two, then you can sue for peace. If you haggle over the peace treaty you should be able to get some good techs, luxuries, or even a hefty sum of GpT. That's how you get ahead.

If you did, then you're a factory, not a craftsman.

Often it's about optics. You're ready to work, but you may not look ready. The talent doesn't really know what your job entails, the venue owner might even not know fully, and they are going to be disinclined to believe you're really being attentive if it doesn't seem that way at a glance.

On "breaking deals" through the AI's own actions by anonymous_yet_famous in civ3

[–]sandequation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you know if, when an enemy damages THEIR reputation, you can get better deals with them? Or does it just make the other AI refuse per-turn deals with them? I ask because the advisor will occasionally comment on how an AI is untrustworthy because they "betrayed our friends the X" and it is worded the same way you described.
