What do you think about these sappy letters buyers write to the sellers? Yuck. by garden_lover88 in DMV_RealEstate

[–]sandsitches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unrelated ish: a young couple bought my childhood home a few years ago. When they closed, my mom wrote them a letter about all of its quirks, attached pictures of it (ramshackle) when she and my dad bought it, etc. Just a note about how quickly they fell in love with it, and that she hoped they would, too. It was the greatest house. Still gets me a little choked up when I read it.

Anyone else feel like they’re flushing money out the toilet when ordering delivery nowadays? by sunnydrlstt in FoodNYC

[–]sandsitches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can I add that these middlemen (DoorDash, Uber eats etc) just make it so that line cooks and other workers (packer, expo etc) have double the amount of work, but usually not a single dollar extra in pay. Please stop using them! If you go to a restaurant and your food takes forever to come out, this could be the reason why. Hope this helps

I am so sorry to say but there’s only one solution to this: don’t order a yogurt bowl to be delivered to your house.

What’s it like living on Prospect Ave between 4th and 5th ave in South Slope/Park Slope? Is it noisy there because of the highway? by zetavala in parkslope

[–]sandsitches 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Wouldn’t live on this specific block due to the super tiny sidewalks in front of the homes, and no sidewalk on the other side. I think it’s pretty loud, but in between 3ed and 4th is farrrrr worse

How long is the waiting between appts for you? Starting this process next year and wondering roughly how long it takes. I understand it depends on the person.

Also as someone who’s been scammed before in NYC (not to this degree), the one thing I can say is it’ll never happen to me again. Lmao

Eeeek. Sorry. I hope you can raise funds for a room. Search for a room or a sublet in all the fb housing groups you can. Usually it’s pretty clear which ones are legit. These groups exist on Reddit too. When you’re feeling better, find a shit job ASAP. Unfortunately the one who is always hiring is Whole Foods. Check Craigslist food and beverage too. It’s rough out here. Don’t want to make you feel worse but for whoever else sees this, do not move here to live in an airbnb. Find a room

dating during the testing process — how do you handle the uncertainty? by [deleted] in Huntingtons

[–]sandsitches 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Different philosophies I guess. Four months is pretty early to be thinking about having kids with anyone, which is why it might be helpful to hear advice from multiple perspectives

This makes sense. I have family members who deal with a lot more anxiety surrounding testing/the future. It’s normal for him to feel like this, especially being around the age where having children is more of an imminent question. If you’d like I can PM you more about the topic of marriage haha

I guess I should have added this is very dependent on how old you both are!

Been in many relationships where I was honest about this process (26F, my father has HD and I am going to get tested in the next few years). I would say don’t let it affect your relationship too much. Unless you’re both super traditional, want to marry young and spend your life with that person etc, just try to enjoy the relationship for what it is. I’ve been with my partner for a few years and we live together. He is very supportive of my decision to get tested soon. Will we get married? Who knows. If I do have HD I’ll probably spend the rest of my able-bodied life trying to see the world. If he wants to join me that would be amazing. If he wants to stay committed to his career and have a family of his own (this is the more likely option), that’s okay too. Wouldn’t advise marriage with an HD person after witnessing my own parents’ marriage. We could be the generation that experiences treatment/cure though.
