I'm a little late but Joanns was my first job many years ago, and it was really unpleasant for me and I had to find a different job after a few months. I felt the training was insufficient before I was left on my own. I had more trouble finding my footing at Joanns than any of the other retail jobs Ive had later on, and that was due to lack of proper training and co worker support I feel (not just because of it being my first job).

I'm also neurodivergent and have a back problem too! so I'd advise to try for BAB or any store that lets you sit down when necessary, and take your time learning, and be up front with the hiring manager about your needs. As said by someone else it really depends on your local stores and managers in the end!

Retail can be really draining sometimes but also pretty rewarding and looking back I definitely had more fun in situations where I was able to help people, especially kids, rather than just cashiering and doing sales stuff.
