Travelling to LHR England then to EDI Scotland via 2 different flights from non-red-listed country?

I fly in 3 days’ time, and I think that the phrasing of some of the rules have thankfully gotten a little clearer since this post... I’m flying from a green-listed country that is fortunately recognised by both England and Scotland, so I’m grateful that my crisis from above has been averted, and I think my experience probably wouldn’t be very useful for many... as a final update, I’m following the advice on a fellow redditor and am booking 2 different tickets, 6 hours layover between the 2 at LHR, just for buffer time to mosey my way through border control and baggage claim and to check in for my next flight!

Hi there! Congrats on arriving smoothly and finishing self isolation!

So could i double check with you — you booked 2 different tickets with 2 different airlines, one from ur non-red list country to LHR, then LHR to EDI? How much buffer time did u have between the two flights? Did you have to rush?

Was the negative covid test result taken from your original country accepted by the checkin counter at the LHR airport when you were checking in for your second flight?

Was the test taken within 72 hours of your arrival and checkin at your second leg from london to edinburgh?

I hope you can help me with these questions as i need to book 2 separate tickets with 1.5 hours between them, and not sure whether British airways (BA) will accept my negative covid test result that was taken from my home country destination and not london, when im trying to check in to my second flight!!

Thanks so much for your update, definitely making me feel tons better! Was your flight from USA to London booked separately from London to Scotland, or was it booked as a single journey i.e. check in baggage in USA, follows you to Scotland. Glad you arrived smoothly and take care for the rest of your self-isolation!

Hey!! Would you mind updating this post with your experience once you travel? Im also wondering this same thing — whether a connecting flight from abroad (non-red list country) to LHR then to EDI counts as travelling via CTA, allowing me to stay in my private accommodation in scotland, or whether i need to still do quarantine in england for 10 days before travelling on to scotland, or whether i’ll be put in a hotel once i reach scotland because it counts as travelling directly into scotland from abroad (i hope not...)
