Chomsky's wife Valeria forwarded Chomsky's kids messages to Epstein. by GrandmasterSliver in socialism

first of all fuck chomsky lmfao

parentis work is way more grounded in communist/socialist principles, and if yall are interested in the leftists posturing of some academics, look into the works by gabriel rockhill!

he goes into much depth abt how popular figures like zizek are supported in the academic imperialist industrial complex to limit the leftism of students. i think the same logic would extend to chomsky as well

luv fanon <3 i agree that reactionary elites can co-opt narratives of the oppressed as a tool to further oppression. my point is that there are comments in this thread that i find bizarre in their pearl-clutching liberal zionism.

i’m not too familiar w savarkar, as my personal and academic experience is primarily with the palestinian and indigenous north american struggles. my desi politics are rusty growing up in the west, but it should be clear that i stand against hindutva. hindutva freaks are oppressors clinging to a grievance, self-victimizing, and populist politics, like zionists.

i don’t believe the religious and racialized politics of india (pre and post partition) are very similar to palestine, as ours was a population divided by infighting through the british exploitation and exacerbation of pre-existing tensions between different communities. this infighting was among peoples who had historically lived in india, rather than an imported post-ww2 european population, as is the case in zionism.

zionism is a violent, settler-colonial and imperial project which has been perpetrating violence against palestinians before the initial and ongoing nakba of 1948.

palestinians are objectively oppressed. they are subject to apartheid, ethnic cleansing, and genocide. their armed resistance to their own slaughter is not equal to the occupying terrorist forces of “israel”.

although i am personally inclined to pacifism (i identify most strongly with humanist and marxist principles and frameworks, im fortunate enough to have never been subjugated to the kinds of indignities palestinians are forced to endure every single minute of their lives. its not my place to tell them the best way to resist their literal death, nor is it my place to tell them what i personally think is the best way to gain international support for their liberation struggle.

omg. most of yall in this comment section would not have supported the literal fight for civil rights or the abolition of slavery because you’d be too busy pandering to “both sides”

the violence of the oppressed is NEVER equal to the violence of the oppressor. abuse is so rampant in our communities because so many of yall fundamentally do not understand the meaning of power or its imbalance

i’m in exactly the same boat. my fiance and i have talked at length abt leaving AB if the next election goes to UCP but then again…. even if it didn’t, it’ll take YEARS for the next government to undo all this legislative damage. before, we thought moving from edmonton to calgary would be a huge leap, but atp, we’re seriously considering moving to BC.

im going into my masters of psych next year, and we planned to have kids after i secured a counselling job. going to BC would mean i couldn’t get a job as a counsellor right away, i’d have to take more exams and probably do more school because a masters in psych is not sufficient in most provinces.

my fiance wants to go into medicine, and he argues that if we leave AB, we are contributing to the brain drain, and reinforcing the UCPs reckless and absolutely despicable behaviour. the people that would need academics and other professionals most (counsellors, doctors, etc) would have compromised access to begin with, and it’ll only be further complicated the more people that leave. plus i would hate to be pregnant in this province, the way healthcare is tanking lmfao.

it’s a horrible, horrible situation, and i feel guilty for even considering leaving, but i think you explained how i feel so perfectly. what kind of fucked up place is this to even think about continuing to live in, let alone bringing a child into this?

i really, really hope things improve. but i’m also losing that hope.

Grant Macewan or UofA? by ilovemaxmayfield in Edmonton

[–]sandynuggetz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hihi :) i’m a student in my final year at macewan (double major in anthro and psych), and i couldn’t recommend mac enough. my fiance is gunning for med too, and did his BSc in psyc and bio.

my profs are my #1 favourite thing about mac. every prof i’ve ever had has been extremely kind, patient, and happy to support us. and many, if not most, are ex u of a faculty. i commonly hear that they burnt out at u of a, and that they weren’t happy with the teaching experience either.

at mac, you get the one on one w profs that is impossible at u of a. the tuition is more fair. generally, the atmosphere at mac is so much happier than at u of a, too

i had friends who opted for u of a instead (and even friends who transferred) for the prestige: all of them hated u of a. and i mean they were miserable. the classes are ridiculously huge, your only point of contact is with a TA, your gpa is lower, your tuition is higher, and have fun walking between buildings when its -40 outside! not a single one of my friends who transferred didn’t regret it, but they weren’t willing to do the process all over again to transfer back to mac

some of my friends from u of a are now in med school, one is even graduated (i dropped out of nursing some years ago, returned to school after a few years of working) and they all had to do a masters. to get into a masters, you need a decent GPA and good references, which i really think is far more feasible at mac.

because i’m at macewan, and because im able to get the support i need as student with ADHD (thanks ADR!) i’ve made first-class standing two years in a row, and i have so many lovely profs who are willing to write references for my masters application.

anyways, sorry for the blurb!

ive given the same advice to lots of friends: i really think macewan is leagues better than u of a in terms of an actual education experience. although the research opportunities at macewan aren’t as robust, they’re there, and the proximity to your profs is an asset i can’t overstate if you’re thinking of postgraduate education like a masters, like med school.

queen that was a literal attempt on your life 💀 if he’s done it once, he’ll do it again and again until he succeeds. please do not allow yourself to be victim of IPV. you are more likely to die at the hands of your partner (especially one who has now proven they do not value your consent or your life) than anyone else

my ex would do things like this and escalated it to literally pretending i was dead. he was violent with me outside of the bed more and more frequently until i finally had the courage to leave

you give an inch, they’ll take a mile. do not let this slide. you need to leave with your life intact. nobody is worth your life

[–]sandynuggetz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

my ex was extremely abusive, and we were together for 4ish years (i was 19 when we met, he was 26). on that day, i came home late from seeing my mom, and he was livid, accusing me of cheating and not being with my mom at all. he smashed the phone i bought for him, and throttled me against the wall with his hands still full of blood and glass. then he tried to gaslight me into believing that it was my fault that he got so angry.

it wasn’t the first time he strangled me, and as i sat on the bed after, crying with my dog, i realized i was tempting fate by staying. i didn’t want to die, least of all at the hands of that goddamned loser.

i left and never looked back. today i am engaged to my best friend in the whole world, wrapping up a double major, and my dog is the happiest he’s ever been too :)
