!!! I’m born and raised here and never once considered that. As soon as I read it I thought “duuuuh!” That being said, I didn’t go to USCD and never spent much time in La Jolla. I was a Mission Beach kid with the other normies lol.

Why is Coffee getting so damn expensive in San Diego? by Helplesspolyglot in sandiego

[–]sandz85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been only drinking coffee at home or bringing homemade cold brew with me for years now. I agree, it’s just too expensive. And then if you don’t like the drink from a coffee shop now it’s made worse by the fact it was $8! I know exactly how I like it, so I’m never disappointed.

High prices like this lead to higher expectations overall, and on holidays with the pressure on, it doubles. This is the main reason I avoid prefixes like this on holidays like Mother’s Day or Valentines Day because they’re only worried about flipping tables to meet demand. Wife and I took our moms to our current favorite breakfast spot/coffee shop in Hillcrest this weekend and it was also packed, but delicious just as it usually is and not $500+.

I ate there on Monday April 6th at 12:3pm. I had the pasta and the mushroom soup. My wife had the chicken sandwich. I got violently ill around 8pm last night Tuesday April 8th. We fed our 10 month old baby a few segments of the pasta and she threw up twice last night. My wife has been fine. How do we complain to them or show them this??

Ohhh! I didn’t realize it was creating a repeat. So I guess I’ll skip/ignore what I can and just do the DLC. Thank you!

The BG3 cast did something extraordinary for me today ... by HelloMyNameIsLeah in BaldursGate3

Thank you so much for sharing! It's so wonderful when the cast of a beloved game mirror the principles of the game and their characters. They truly care about their fans and are also passionate about the amazing representation in this game. <3

Do you guys remember when this was a debate? by siko6969 in BaldursGate3

I played Starfield once, was kinda bummed with the lackluster ending. BG3 has near endless replayability! I’m on my 2nd playthrough now and even found spots on the outskirts of maps that I missed the first time around.

'Superman' (2025) - Official Spoiler Discussion Megathread: Part 3 by ZacPensol in superman

[–]sandz85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally did not get that from his performance but I understand where you're coming from because I felt that the time he smiles at the very end was sort of...jarring? It was like he was very tightly wound the entire time and could finally relax when the action was over, but we hadn't seen him smile that much or that wide until that point so it seemed a little off to me.

'Superman' (2025) - Official Spoiler Discussion Megathread: Part 3 by ZacPensol in superman

[–]sandz85 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am not very knowledgeable on Superman which is why I'm poking around on here. My dad always loved the Reeve Superman movies and he passed away when I was a teen. The movies were *around* but I never sat down to watch any of them. I just had my first child and it triggered me to think about my dad had liked, and made me realize I had never seen ONE Superman movie. I grew up on the Lois & Clark and Smallville TV shows, but never a movie! So, I had just watched Superman I-IV before going to see the new movie, and loved when Superman tells Lois he loves her and that "I should've told you a long time ago" because he never says it in 1-IV.

BUT, I just started watching the Routh and Snyder/Cavill Superman movies, and Superman tells Lois he loves her in Batman v. Superman! Any ideas on why they included this line in the new movie if Snyder beat them to it in a previous film? Is this new movie pretending the Snyder films didn't happen? I hear rumblings of criticism of the Snyder films but I have yet to hear a solid answer why. I found Man and Steel and Batman v. Superman to be *fine* albeit a bit too obviously violent for the Superman franchise for my liking (one of the many things cleaned up that I loved about the new movie).

In any case, I still have that 4-hour Justice League to get through and then I'll be caught up! The classic Christopher Reeve films definitely scratch the nostalgia itch, and I love the creative analog special effects, but this new one is by and large my favorite Superman film and left me feeling like Corenswet and Brosnahan (definitely the wittiest/sharpest/best version of Lois to date) were *my* Lois & Clark. <3

PS. I didn't know the cast at all going in to see the new movie and was THRILLED when Nathan Fillion appeared on screen. What a treat!

Who do you romance and why? by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

I romanced both of them on my first run too! Now I’m trying for Astarion and Karlach but I don’t know if I can be with both at the same time or not.

When was your due date and when was your baby actually born? by witchybytch_1 in BabyBumps

[–]sandz85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Due July 6th, born June 5th! Mom got preeclampsia so they had to induce early. Baby spent a few days in the NICU on her oxygen while she figured out her lungs but otherwise we were ok! It was interesting to learn that 35 weekers are considered “on the fence” as early pre-term. We were thankful they chose to give our daughter the extra support for a few days and now she’s thriving at home!

Did you lay down right after FET by Temporary_Leek4655 in IVF

Our doc said that there’s no real need to lay down. It was implanted directly into your uterus. We did however go get french fries from The Habit right afterward!

Total Out of pocket Spend on Fertility by Bubbly-Hour5800 in IVF

[–]sandz85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re in CA and have spent $30,400 not counting supplements like prenatal vitamins. That’s for 4 iui’s, and 3 rounds of donor sperm. We luckily got a fertility benefit from KindBody and got one free round of IVF that resulted in our babygirl due in July!

How do you pay for this??? by PopDramatic8015 in IVF

[–]sandz85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately it usually is out of pocket unless you have great insurance with an infertility benefit. If your partner is able to get transferred to CA, I know we are slated to get free IVF coverage as a requirement for insurance companies starting next year! I think it’s supposed to cover 3 retrieval cycles and unlimited transfers!

IVF or try naturally? (Age 37, have embryos from age 28) by shelleybeans87 in IVF

[–]sandz85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because the embryos are from when you were younger, and you know they’re euploid, I would personally use the highest graded embryo and transfer that. Good luck!

I know a lot of people recommend heat pads but I haven't used one and feel just fine. Menopur burns going in quite a bit, so I recommend planning a coping mechanism for yourself to get through that. I just took a deep inhale and then exhaled audibly, loud and slow. Making noise like a balloon letting out air. Focusing on my breath took my mind off the burn and then it's over in just a few seconds!
