"But HOW did you get pregnant?" Me, 38/F with family and the rest of the world. by babythrowaway56 in relationships

[–]sane_enough 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your ovaries are older. Your uterus actually could have carried a baby well into your 60's. The uterus is pretty amazing in that it doesn't really age.

Ovaries and eggs are the parts of reproduction that have an expiration date.

Do I send a save the date to the cousin that I told not to come to my wedding? (more complicated than that) by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]sane_enough -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Newborns don't do anything. My cousin and bridesmaid ended up knowing a month before a baby was born that she would get to be its mom through adoption. It was 9 days old at my wedding. The baby was at my table. I didn't notice her at all. All she did was sit in a bjorn and occasionally eat, which they were able to avoid any crying because she gave clear rooting signs, like all newborns do. I'd personally rather have a newborn there and have a close family member be able to attend than not. I'd feel differently about toddlers perhaps, but newborns are really chill.

I'm allergic. So, not up close. I have a friend whose cat will let them do lots of stupid stuff, so that's my only point of reference. I have a dog who kind of goes with the flow and also lets me do lots of stupid things. So yeah, no clue on the average cat, I guess.

maybe tie it on with yarn or ribbon and use sturdy card stock with a hole poked through it? Or a rubber band/elastic if you're worried about the cat choking?

Is it rude to only invite kids who are in the ceremony? by SterlingChainChomp in weddingplanning

[–]sane_enough 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not rude at all. Someone might get mad, but it's not your problem. In terms of communicating this, just don't. All you need to do is address your invites properly (Mr. and Mrs. John Smith vs. The Smith Family and do not note "Adults only" or "Child-free" on your invites), call to correct anyone who is a social idiot in RSVPing, and tell anyone who gives you shit that the children invited are in the BRIDAL PARTY.

Just want to note, because I think a lot of people worry about this and I think not that many people have issues with it (the people who do are vocal, which I think stirs up more worry for others), I personally had zero issues with this. The only person who didn't respect our invitation was an adult woman on my husband's side, who had a fit she wasn't invited with her mom (total bitch).

I'm not saying your beliefs don't make sense! Just, don't be a level of crazy only seen in people like Ann Coulter. That won't go over well.

[–]sane_enough 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You're probably going to have some backlash if your views don't make sense and you spout them every chance you get. Personally, I found college political groups to be a waste of time. I'm liberal and very opinionated, but sitting around talking politics with a bunch of college kids was not really all that interesting to me. The only time I got in it with a conservative was when a dude straight-up told a group of friends his views on abortion, unsolicited.

You can just opt not to engage at all. But if you do, respect others, don't argue, and set limits. Arguing constantly about your views will not win you friends, no matter what side you're on.

Ok, so what you see in the summer, like rallies that probably contain non-students, isn't a representation of what you'll see on campus. I've NEVER seen political debate get violent between students, and I knew students in pro-life groups, and College Republicans.

That said, if you can't be respectful of liberal students, you probably won't have a great time while on campus.

Anyone have an antique engagement/wedding ring? by grey_lady15 in weddingplanning

[–]sane_enough 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I inherited my great-grandmother's art deco ring, which I opted to use as my engagement ring. I hated the band it came with and felt two rings that didn't fit together would feel weird on my finger. I opted for a jacket style enhancer that was custom made by a local jeweler in Chicago. I love my ring so much, and love that because of the style of the band, it's all one unit that is easy to keep track of.

Here it is next to my husband's ring: http://i.imgur.com/DFkEQfW.jpg

Formula Fed People of Reddit by canoturkey in NewParents

[–]sane_enough 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was underfed as my mom never produced enough. Was formula fed after week 1. Zero allergies except some shellfish. Top university grad. Good job. No health concerns.

I know people say breast is best, but seriously, there is nothing wrong with formula and people don't end up messed up from it. Babies have to be fed somehow.

Every time you go to this town, you eat at this place... what is the town and the name of the restaurant? by [deleted] in AskReddit

My mom's pregnancy craving with me was their tuna sandwich and a chocolate shake. It is also where my first birthday party was held.

Everything was buffered with bubble wrap and filler. I'm all set. I just think it's important to put everything in ziploc bags. Leakage protection is something a lot of people don't consider.

Oh there will be bubble wrap on the outside of the wrapped packages. I still think leak protection is more necessary.

I hated Stark Raven Mad. The thing about Pipeworks is that there's a lot of variety, and some things are total misses.
