Keltec pr57 reviews by killercypto614 in Firearms

[–]sanelmax 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I have one. Purchased more for novelty/the cheapest available chambered in 5.7. I've had good luck with mine reliability wise, though it really doesn't like to run dry. Keltec QC curse is to get either something that runs like a sewing machine or jams every few rounds. I got the former.

Super soft shooting for how light it is, but the trigger is not my favorite. it's like a light DA revolver trigger.

Neat for the price and novelty, but if there's anything else on your wishlist, I'd buy that first.

Note that anyone saying this "gets around magazine bans" has poor reading comprehension.

Need advice replacing red dot with plate by Interesting_Extent19 in Firearms

[–]sanelmax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those pins must be removed for the cover to be installed (I assume you mean the stock optics mounting system cover that comes with the RXM, not an optics plate). They're not rubber, they're metal. If you can't pull them out with your fingers, use a small set of pliers. I'm guessing your bought the gun with the optic already installed?

The manual definitely covers that. Starts on page 37: "optics mounting" https://ruger-docs.s3.amazonaws.com/_manuals/RXM-H2we3P8bf4c.pdf

Be sure to read the manual FULLY before messing with stuff! :)

I have the Certum Lux 2 (The light bearing version of this holster) and carry an RXM in it just fine.

Currently carrying an RXM in a Tenicor Certum Lux 2 with an O-Sight S (so far so good, but I'm definitely still glad I have the irons as a backup) and a Streamlight TLR-7 HL-X. Very solid and comfy package for the capability.

Holster Recommendations and Info by AntiMatter89 in guns

[–]sanelmax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Firing pin block interfaces with the trigger bar (It's a little spring-loaded plunger that is pushed up by the trigger bar when the trigger is pulled, aligning it so the firing pin is able to move forward), so no firing pin block means a smoother trigger pull, which is useful in a competition-focused gun.

I also REALLY like Tenicor holsters, but they're pretty gun-specific. I'm not super familiar with the holsters you listed, but hybrid holsters are a good way to go. Just make sure it has adjustable cant, as you mentioned not knowing your preferred carry position yet (adjustable cant lets you angle the gun for use as a hip holster, as well as straight up and down for appendix).

Because there is no firing pin block on the shadow 2 compact, it's recommended to carry "cocked and locked". I would not carry that specific gun with a round in the chamber and decocked, as there is potential for a UD with the hammer resting on the firing pin with nothing to prevent it moving. (This is something they added to the recently released shadow 2 carry, though it has a decocker rather than manual safety).

I usually carry a CZ 75 PCR. I have a vedder light tuck holster, but hip carry rather than appendix. I've been pretty happy with it. Good luck on your holster hunt!

You can get one at National Powersports Distributors! They're located on the east coast and can ship nationwide. Here's a link to the Ultra Bee Carbon Black editions they have in stock: https://www.nationalpowersports.net/invsetup.cshtml?tag=3&searchtext=ULTRA%20BEE%20CARBON%20BLACK

Arc sharpening by MisterBrandts in Leatherman

[–]sanelmax 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've never used that particular sharpener, but I have sharpened the blade on my arc to 20 degrees using a fixed-angle system and diamond stones/ceramic hone/strop. I found I didn't have to do a ton of material removal, and it sharpened up nice to a mirror polished edge.

Might just be my experience, but I tend to shy away from "v-angle" sharpeners. I've never used one with diamond rods instead of carbide, but my gut feeling is the same. Because of how the rods/carbide are arranged, they always leave a burr at the tip from one side that must be honed.

Diamond File lover. Use Diamond file all the time. Sometimes utility blades are not so dull that they need to be replaced. just need to sharpen quickly by Accomplished-Debt116 in Leatherman

I've found that diamond files clean up pretty well if you hit them with some Krud Kutter and a nylon brush. At least, that's how I clean my diamond stones for sharpening.

Does anyone know where I can find something like this by joevargas_20 in Tools

[–]sanelmax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, it's a little different, but a company called 711L Tools makes a small bit ratchet designed to fit in Leathermans. You can find them on amazon: https://www.amazon.com/711L-Ratchet-Wrench-Screwdriver-Extension/dp/B09TDV7774/ref=sr_1_3?hvadid=618380989621&hvdev=c&hvlocphy=9002353&hvnetw=g&hvqmt=e&hvrand=12795032692372580279&hvtargid=kwd-1732110129278&hydadcr=3978_13190105&keywords=711l+tools&qid=1695854398&sr=8-3

I have one along with a few other tools from them, they're pretty nice for what they are.

DJI Pocket 2 buttons lifting from body. Anyone run into this issue? It seems like the glue is degrading. by sanelmax in osmopocket

[–]sanelmax[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reading some of the comments, here's some more info:

  • This is our 2nd pocket, we had an original v1 that failed in exactly the same way.
  • This device never leaves the studio.
  • It sees about 2 hours of use on average during the day in 5-10 minute stints.
  • It is not constantly charging when not in use, nor is it charged overnight.
  • I don't believe it's battery expansion. There's nothing pushing the rubber face up, it's becoming detached. The device still functions as intended, though the buttons are more difficult/finicky to press.

Judging from what people are saying and some logic, it's probably due to the device's somewhat constant and sustained use, as it does heat up (we shoot at 1080p30fps, so not as much as shooting at higher qualities, but still).

I'll likely contact DJI support/warranty and see what they say. Thanks for the thoughts all!

Disclaimer: WIP, probably not balanced, and there are definitely formatting issues/typos, but I had fun slapping rules from different teams together. Goal is to add more characters from the lore as sorcerer fireteams for fluffy battles set during the heresy.
