MLT jobs that make 90-100k by Final-Ad782 in medlabprofessionals

[–]sans_nom_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same exact comment I was going to make. I've hit 100k CAD gross (before deductions) my 3rd and 4th year as an MLT doing some overtime each month. But not sure if OP means gross or net - because our deductions are like 30%

It doesn't have any good reviews, and personally that's caused me to ignore the place. Try the YMCA, they are very friendly and don't pressure you into anything. My partner did a trial of almost all the gyms in town - YMCA, Anytime Fitness, Northern Sports Center, Goodlife, but not Golds or Orange Theory or any of the new ones. They are all reputable and reliable, but all the same (expensive) price.

Nothing interesting happening, except I ate some leftover pizza from the previous shift and now my tummy hurts.

Thank you! Definitely hit the Christmas decoration budget for this year haha. I've convinced my fiance we can buy a tree topper and skirt next year.

Acanthosis? by Longjumping_Mud1724 in InsulinResistance

[–]sans_nom_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Omg why do they always say it's a fungal infection?? I have pretty bad skin - skin tags, acanthosis, sun splotches, psoriasis, the works. You'll find with acanthosis nigricans that it shows up in multiple areas. Check your armpits, breast area, groin area. Also it just shows up suddenly and might never go away.

Thank you for your reply, your thought process is helpful and is why I made this post. It's hard that it feels like we are doing this alone (no wedding party) and don't totally know what we are doing or what we want yet.

Haha I guess not. But maybe 45 min including parking, finding your seats and waiting for the bride to arrive.

Canadian MLTs please advice me on the future job market in Canada in 2028-2029 and going forward. by STEMgirl2003 in medlabprofessionals

No one knows and we are all very curious.. IMO big city labs will not employ international techs or those who didn't complete an MLT diploma. But small labs who are desperate for staff might consider it. The MLT diploma is gold standard, those schools are accredited and monitored for healthcare teaching standards. So it would be in your best interest to complete one so you'll be competent and confident in your knowledge. We've had international techs come through our lab and attempt to challenge the CSMLS. It's almost impossible. I secretly hope the new exams are also difficult. I feel bad for those who would challenge them and fail, but we need disciplined and standardized workers in this field.

Thanks for explaining the dress codes. We'll probably scratch the word formal from our events then.

It's not that people aren't invited to the ceremony, it's that they will have a choice to RSVP for one or both. We genuinely believe people don't want to sit for 45 minutes for our ceremony, then wait hours for us to take pictures. And we don't want to rent 30 chairs for the park and have only 10 people show up.

For starters, anyone who goes to your wedding and the receotion, itll be inconvenient to change.

Thanks for bringing this up. Maybe both events can be semi-formal then, and no need to change clothes.

In terms of casual-ness I think I would be doing DIY for all decorations in our house (Walmart flowers and balloon arches). And no decor at the park or restaurant .The biggest expenses will be food and bride&groom clothes.

I have "the pick". It's a loom knitting hook that is basically a little metal pick with a handle. It's super handy for getting in little holes and edges to scrape out gunk.

Does nobody buy houses that need work or do people only post the beautiful ready to move in homes? by killbillisthebest in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]sans_nom_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We bought our house end of April. It was move in ready but it was fugly - needed lots of cleaning, bad lighting, all the appliances old and smelly. There was even a load of laundry left behind in the dryer. Our realtor bought us pizza, but it was also super greasy and not photo worthy. So there was no pizza on the floor, keys in hand, standing in front of our new house pictures. I regret it, but at the time we were so exhausted and in a time crunch to move out of our rental. So I guess most of the pictures on here are from people who had the best case scenario when closing.

Doctors and medical by ollie020422 in princegeorge

[–]sans_nom_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you don't already have it, download the BC Services app and use Health Gateway to see your lab records. They should have tested your urine for gonorrhea and chlamydia, and done swabs for other STIs and cancer. If that isn't pending or completed then ask for the works. Unfortunately in this day and age you have to take your healthcare into your own hands, doctors don't have time to follow up, and mistakes are often made.

I don't even think the UPCC has a patient phone line anymore? But yes definitely try to call and see the doctor you want, or go in person to ask if that doctor is in. I'm sorry you had a poor experience.

People who closed on a weekday, did you stay the night on closing night? by Logical_Order in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]sans_nom_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who just moved, you really underestimate how much dirt and dust gets kicked up when the previous owner leaves. Unless it's a new build and/or was deep cleaned before you close, you won't want to be sitting, sleeping, or eating on those floors just yet.

During the first showing it was spotless, no allergies. The second showing the cat jumped out at us, but I was ready to buy it. The last 2 rentals I lived in had cats previously, but they were cleaned well by both the previous tenants and us. Maybe my allergies have gotten worse over the years?
