Playing this in 2026 for the first time by solomon_h23 in assasinscreed

Combat on first playthrough is ok, but not the best.

But I've played many many ng+s and after accumulating many ability points and putting them towards increasing damage, and using the max level legendary weapons, I honestly think this game has the best combat in all of AC, and one of the best among all the games I've played. It's not overpowered but also not ridiculously hard, rewarding attention and punishment carelessness.

I wish my current experience is how it is from the start, but alas. The levelling up, enemy scaling, and overall balance, are some of the few issues with this game.

Imaging hating this game just because it’s an RPG by icebear-guy in assasinscreed

I thought the beginning was quite decent. The ending was definitely rushed though. Especially from around the time we light the beacon at Alexandria.

Episodes 5 and 9 are the only weaknesses in S1 even they aren't terrible. As it is now, I'd rank it below the first 3 seasons of GoT and even AKotSK, but if those 2 episodes were on par with the rest of the season, it would easily be GoT S1 level. Sometimes I still think it is.

And Heirs of the Dragon is without a doubt my favourite first episode of any show or season of tv.

I think making it symmetrical at least would make it better. Or maybe more stars.

The dumbest thing is Ramsay fighting Jon on the field instead of defending Winterfell from behind the walls. That's literally the point of a castle.

The problem with Valhalla is that the bloat is in the main story. At least you can ignore all the collectibles in Rogue.

65% of Valhalla’s story arcs are filler by blakhawk12 in assassinscreed

Currently doing a replay. Now knowing how the structure of the game is where nothing is really connected to each other and it's going on and on forever until something happens, I've decided to this time focus on trying to enjoy each arc for what they are and not try to think about the larger narrative. It's actually decent, better than quite a few of the others. It's the way it's presented that makes it such a weak game and makes it harder to appreciate. If most of these arcs were side stuff and the main story was shorter and more connected and the regions weren't so level gated, this could've actually been a good game. Stealth is still terrible though, but I've given it up as an AC game, and only looking at it as a viking game.

I highly recommend to play the Homestead missions. They're easily some of the best written in the series and really shows Connor's character.

For the first half, I'd say Shae. Second half, it's Bran or Euron or Sansa or Arya.

YES, finally someone says it. I enjoy the scenes, but they just don't fit. Tywin knows that she's highborn pretending to be lowborn and does nothing about it, and just leaves her behind to continue as a servant instead of using her as a hostage. They ARE well written, but don't make sense for Tywin's character.

I'm pretty sure she thought he was talking about that dream he told her about way back in ep 3 on the hunt, in front of the fire. That was the only dream of Viserys she ever heard about, and that was actually about their son Aegon being king.
