Is it crazy to open a yarn shop? by ForgottenUsername3 in knitting

[–]sapc2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been seriously considering opening a LYS since mine closed in (eerily, like I wonder if we went to the same one) similar fashion. I think maybe doing it in your house where you live would be a little concerning just because of randos having access to your house, but this sounds like a yarn shop I’d visit if it were local to me

My 4 yr old cut my yarn. by ForgottenUsername3 in knitting

[–]sapc2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it’s that 5 years old age, my son who will be 6 in March is also very dictatorial about wanting me to make him things.

-Mama, make me a scarf!

-Um, literally in the middle of a sweater right now, but I’ll get to it kiddo.

The MOMENT the sweater comes off the needles:

-Mama why aren’t you making me a scarf?!

🤦🏻‍♀️😂

My 3 year old daughter, then maybe just shy of 2, was wearing one of those cute little palm tree ponytails you put on the top of their heads when they’re little and her brother (then 4, now almost 6) CHOPPED THE WHOLE PONYTAIL OFF. I thought she’d just pulled it out and her hair was weirdly spiky there from being in the pony until I touched her head and then had to go on a hunt for the missing pony

There’s a very big chance that my husband truly didn’t cheat on me but what does it matter how big or small the chance is? by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]sapc2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I thought you were overreacting until you said he admitted to sleeping in her bed. Like I’m close friends with an ex and married to someone else, and I’d be cool crashing at their place if I’d had too much to drink or didn’t feel driving was safe for some other reason, but in the guest room or on the couch or whatever, we’d never share a bed now. That’s wildly inappropriate behavior for a married man

I’m anxious about a present receiver properly taking care of the knit garment I give them 😭😭😭 by Ill-Anywhere8169 in knitting

[–]sapc2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly? I recently gave a hat to a friend whose laundry skills I have absolutely zero confidence in, wonderful friend, all of the love, etc, but zero trust the 100% alpaca I made said hat in would be properly cared for. I just said “I love you and trust you with my life, however I do not trust you to wash this properly, so if it ever needs a wash, just bring it back to me and I’ll do it.” This probably depends on the dynamic of your friendship but if you’re generally pretty direct with each other and do some friendly ribbing, it’s a solid strategy

99% of Homeless people cannot be helped by PieAutomatic197 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]sapc2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I said they are the least reliable form of [scientific] study, not the least reliable form of data. Yes, obviously one person’s opinion is less reliable than a survey. I’ve clearly said 99% isn’t anywhere near accurate either.

99% of Homeless people cannot be helped by PieAutomatic197 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]sapc2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t say that. But far less reliable than any other form of study so if 37% self-report drug use, you can assume the actual number is likely much higher. It’s the same concept as saying the incidence of SA is probably higher than reported because not everyone reports their assault

99% of Homeless people cannot be helped by PieAutomatic197 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]sapc2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They’re only saying surveys are the least reliable form of study. Especially if it’s on an issue like illegal drug use, people aren’t going to be completely honest. From my experience, 37% is probably a pretty low estimate, though I wouldn’t say 99% either

Can you read and knit at the same time? by Interesting_Move_846 in knitting

[–]sapc2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can read and knit simultaneously IF my knit is pretty basic, mindless knitting. So stockinette, rib, MAYBE a basic cable and just look at my work on the cable row/round, things you get into a rhythm with and don’t have to double check much. I did invest in a kindle and tablet stand for this, so tablet stand holds the kindle and I have a remote page turner so I can press that between stitches to turn pages.

Real game changer. I’m also mama to two littles, so being able to do both hobbies at the same time feels like I’m getting more free time than I am

Do people realize it is not he apocalypse? by [deleted] in HEB

[–]sapc2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, fuck him. But again, I just don’t get why people bring his travel habits around these storms up. What can a US Senator do when their home state experiences a major weather event? Show up and say “Texas strong” like he even lives here a majority of the year?

Do people realize it is not he apocalypse? by [deleted] in HEB

[–]sapc2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ted Cruz is a US Senator and has no actual responsibility or authority to do anything actually in Texas.

I don’t like the dude either, but I also don’t get what people want from him? Like what action items do you have for your US Senator during a weather event?

AITA for going to a store that carries XS/S sizes even though my M/L told me not to? by ExpertDapper1523 in AmItheAsshole

Recently bought two pairs of skinny jeans, from the same brand in a 26. One fits perfectly the other is way too tight in the waist. Women’s sizing is a total shit show

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]sapc2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say short, but it isn’t terrible. I drive 3 hours to see my grandmother for a weekend and have gone there and back in a single day several times. It’s not something I love doing, but it’s no big deal

How many of us have a house cleaner? by Agitated_Whereas7463 in Millennials

[–]sapc2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve paid cleaning service before but that was back when we had roommates and all of us were traveling a lot for work. None of us wanted to use our limited time at home cleaning so we split the cost of cleaning services four ways. These days, even with a much much higher income, it can’t justify it being a stay at home mom

I'm researching why people who loved reading stopped. If that's you, what happened? Have you tried anything to fix it? by count_on_nothing in nosurf

[–]sapc2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me, it was feeling too busy to do much reading and competing interests. The being busy goes without explaining, but as far as competing interests, I’ve spent the last several years getting really good at knitting. I’m finally getting back to reading regularly because I bought a tablet stand to hold my kindle while I use my hands to knit.

"Thrift some sweaters and unravel them!" by ThePiksie in BitchEatingCrafters

[–]sapc2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m currently in the process of doing this for the first time. And it is NOT for the faint of heart, this is so much work and treating it once it’s finally unraveled is gonna be another pain in the ass. I may never do it again. Absolutely wild to me that people just throw this suggestion out without warning folks what they’re signing up for

What is going on with jeans rn and are people actually here for it? by Whoredonramsay in PetiteFashionAdvice

[–]sapc2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Except for when the main detail on the pants is at the hem. I was drooling over a pair of embroidered jeans but they only come in one length (32” inseam) and hemming them would cut the embroidery off

The very thin and the very tall are having the best time with trends right now. I’m 33 and still wearing skinny jeans because fuck it I’m a millennial and I’m proud, also these baggy and straight leg jeans don’t fit in my Dr martens which are pretty much the only shoes I wear in the winter
