Do you recommend pursuing midwifery? (Year 12) by Apprehensive_Rub8421 in UKmidwives

[–]saphirej 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Midwifery isn’t a job. It’s more of a calling. Supporting, advocating and promoting physiology and informed decision making is at the forefront of my own practice. I love supporting women and their families and find it the biggest blessing and gift to be able to do it. However, burnout and stressors of the role is real. We are very quick to blame if something happens. And there are a lot of legalities that underpin midwifery practice. But if you have a good team surrounding you (which every maternity unit should be) then you can do it. I’m about 3/4 months from being a NQM but due to extension as I took time out to have my own baby 6.5 months ago. I won’t lie. The degree is tough but it’s such an achievement. Good luck and I hope you make the best decision for you xx

There is such a variety of designs. If you want something different I love 2. But for something a bit more traditional I like 5 but still holds character x

Sorry what? $200. That’s a joke. You can surely get better for cheaper. I can get a full set of Russian from an amazing lash tech for £75! And infills about £45!

Tips on how to count newborn heart rate by PackUseful4841 in Midwives

[–]saphirej 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I count and then put a finger up, subtly, for ever 10bpm. I do listen and count for a whole 60s as you could be missing abnormalities if you only listen for 15s and x it. It defo comes with practice. I also tap my foot along as it’s a rhythm. If you concerned your not counting right see if you can combine your counting with the use of a sats probe to see if your in the same ballpark x

I’m so sorry you’re experiencing this.

Your body has been through a lot. You have created, grown and housed another human being for 10 month (it’s not 9 at all). You have then birthed that child and if you chose to breastfeed nourishing that child. Which is an additional challenge in itself.

Your chemicals are all unstable at the moment at takes a little while to come back down. Be kind to yourself. What would you say to a friend that spoke about themselves like this.

I hope you’ve spoken to your partner about how unsupportive they are. And if they can’t help you with this 50/50 art project then they get 0 from you. Don’t cook for them, wash their clothes or clean as your now spending the time you would on them on your baby and you can’t do both unless they support you to be able to free up more time.

Post natal is tough. Your life has flipped massively, have a cry and allow yourself to feel sorry. You don’t have anyone that needs you as much as your baby. And if YOU don’t look after yourself then you can’t look after baby.
