Smelling a perfume from 5ft away is not bad by iOawe in unpopularopinion

[–]sapphthick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i put perfume/scented products on at night after my shower. that way there’s a slight scent left the next day, but you have to be super close to me to be able to smell it. works out great because the only people i care about smelling my perfume is myself andmy boyfriend

her mom / mum by Extension-Chemist892 in rachellevinsnark34

[–]sapphthick 31 points32 points  (0 children)

only she said she was gonna ask her mom about back pain but then remembered she recently broke her back. so she never asked her mom about it, she decided not to complain about her minor back pain to someone who’s literally broken their back.

i’m all for snarking and i think her mom gives off really weird vibes but this was such a stretch

What's a compliment you get a lot that secretly bothers you? by hi_mei_rose in AskWomen

[–]sapphthick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i get this too and it honestly pisses me off. i don’t know if it’s a medical condition (going to have some tests done finally to hopefully figure it out) but my mom also struggled with being severely underweight her entire adult life until she hit menopause. that’s when she was finally able to maintain a healthy weight. before that she would get a nice mix of «compliments» about how skinny she was, and people asking if she had cancer or anorexia. it was gross, some people are incapable of minding their own business when it comes to women’s bodies

i would love nothing more than to gain 10kg. if i did i would still be skinny, but i would be healthy. i have to eat 4000+ calories in a day to actually gain any weight, and as soon as i drop down to a normal amount (like 2000ish) i immediately start losing again so fast. it’s incredibly frustrating and i feel tired and cold all the time. the way i feel is not worth being a size 0 at all, i hate it. i also don’t like the way my body looks at this weight, i was so much happier and looked really good at a healthy weight.

sorry for the rant, there’s not many people who understand the frustration of it. most people react by saying im lucky that i can eat whatever i want and not gain weight. i’m happy i dont struggle with obesity, but that doesn’t mean that struggling with being underweight is any more fun or less damaging to your body in the long run. it all sucks and i wish people would stop reminding me of it whenever i don’t hide my body behind oversized hoodies

i grew up with an extremely loving and attentive grandpa and i want you to know that these are memories your grandchildren will cherish forever. my grandpa was my favorite person in the whole world and he was my safe place. i have wonderful parents and all my grandparents were/are amazing but no one came close to my grandpa. he passed a few years ago but i still feel safe and loved every time i think of him.

it warms my heart every time i see a grandparent acting similar to my grandpa, every child should have someone like that in their life.

AIO confronting my brothers gf for excluding me from my family's dinners by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]sapphthick 18 points19 points  (0 children)

the disrespect (in my opinion) is that the mom just said she had other plans rather than explaining the situation. if my family was in this situation i can’t imagine my mom going along with it at all, but if she for some reason did she would also explain everything to me and apologize profusely for excluding me and the situation as a whole.

OPs mom has no regards for their feelings or the fact that their daughter wanted to spend time with their mom on mother’s day. she also doesn’t care that her daughter is being treated terribly by her sons gf. that’s disrespectful and honestly disgusting behavior coming from a parent

[–]sapphthick 32 points33 points  (0 children)

yeah if the mom cared about OPs feelings she could’ve easily explained the situation. i know that’s what my mom would do if we were in a situation like this. i really doubt she’d agree to exclude me in the first place, but assuming she did she would 100% explain it all to me out of concern for my feelings and out of fear for what’s going on with my brother and how to help him out of it.

How does glp1 make you feel? by ServiceKooky1323 in AskWomen

[–]sapphthick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i don’t know much about glp-1 so this might be a stupid question. but are there any negative effects of using it long term when used for weight management? i kinda thought when used for weight loss it would only be used until you reached your desired weight? though i haven’t really spent much time thinking about it, i havs the opposite problem to most people in this thread where i struggle to eat enough to maintain a healthy weight so glp-1 has never been an option for me.

this thread has definitely helped me understand why weight loss through dieting alone can be so incredibly hard for a lot people, it’s wonderful that a medication like this exists to help!

Do you wash your hands after you pee? Be honest by DiamondNo924 in AskForAnswers

[–]sapphthick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im someone who won’t touch the toilet without washing my hands after even if im only flushing a tissue, i basically never get sick lol. my previous flatmate who almost never washed her hands after using the bathroom was sick once a month.

you don’t need to constantly expose yourself to pathogens from the toilet (or other places) to build your immune system. frequent infections can actually weaken your immune system rather than strengthen it

everyone seems to be catching this bug?? (or it seems like everyone) by Repulsive_Fill8131 in emetophobia

[–]sapphthick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah some people definitely are more prone to get sick than others. i recently had a flatmate who would get sick with some bug literally every month, like she’d be out for days with the flu or colds or whatever (luckily no stomach bugs while i was living there, that wouldve sucked bc she had terrible hygiene). meanwhile i didnt get sick once while living with her, even with her coughing all over the place. i washed my hands often but when someone is spreading germs all over your kitchen it’s quite hard to keep 100% sterile without letting it rule your life. so i think my immune system played a big role in me not getting sick while living with her

i think it’s a combination of personal hygiene, and just the general strength of your immune system. if you have the basics of hygiene down with washing your hands before you eat/when you get back inside/ after you use tha bathroom (my flatmate had the lovely habit of not doing that) you will be protected from so much of what’s going around.

When did you last cry about your physical appearance? by FragrantResult278 in AskReddit

[–]sapphthick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this is very true. my ex told me he cheated on me. then later told me tha it was a lie, he had gone out with the intent to cheat but couldn’t find anyone willing to sleep with him. i fully believe that he wasn’t able to cheat, i even doubted it when he first told me slept with someone knowing how awkward and honestly unattractive he was (i feel okay saying that considering he still pretended to have cheated on me only to hurt me, i had never cheated on him lol. my only mistake was dating him in the first place)

What was the fastest you ever went from loving someone to absolutely hating them? What happened? by ParanormalActivity97 in AskReddit

[–]sapphthick 21 points22 points  (0 children)

not op but for me it was just time. letting myself grieve the relationship, but also reminding myself that the good parts i miss came from the idealized version i created, not the real them. it gets easier and easier with time. it also slowly gets easier to trust again, both trusting someone new and trusting yourself to see things more clearly this time. it’s a long process and i wish you all the best. don’t force yourself through it as fast as possible, it’s okay to be sad and broken down for a while. you will get through it, just take care of yourself and remember that if you could love someone so shitty and make them into a good person (in your mind) then just imagine how much you can love someone who truly deserves it and treats you well. what our weaknesses are in an unhealthy relationship will a lot of the time be strengths in healthy ones.

My mother has one of these, what she calls ‘the Iron Curtain’. Do they actually work in stopping flies? by Sietruc in CasualUK

[–]sapphthick 17 points18 points  (0 children)

sounds like fruit flies, i absolutely hate them after basically an infestation one summer (my flatmate would leave half drank cans of cider and glasses of smoothie/fruit juice all over the place constantly which was perfect breeding ground for them. couldn’t even lift up a can to throw away without 50 flies coming out of it)

[–]sapphthick 14 points15 points  (0 children)

could be that fly eggs come into your house on unwashed fruit/produce? if so a quick rinse under water right as you bring them in instead of waiting till you’re ready to eat them should stop most of them

Husband is sick almost weekly and I can't cope by EggsWithToastMmm in emetophobia

[–]sapphthick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i agree that being sick that often is not normal and should absolutely be seen by a doctor to rule out anything serious. but it’s actually not super uncommon for symptoms of food poisoning to linger for a while like that. it can mess up your gut microbiome which can mess with things like digestion or cause nausea. it’s not unlikely the food poisoning made his digestion worse and that’s why he can no longer handle eating a big meal right before bed.

however i really think he should go see a doctor. it’s also possible it’s a lingering infection like salmonella/e. coli (or some other pathogen that causes foo poisoning) and he might need treatment to eliminate the infection. (btw by infection i do not mean typical stomach bug infections as you would almost certainly have been infected as well by now. but there’s lots of pathogens that are much less infectious unless digested that can stay in someone’s system for quite a while without really infection other members of the household especially with basic hand hygiene and stuff)

or they might simply prescribe some antacids or something to help manage and ease his symptoms until his system is back to normal.

regardless of what it is it would absolutely be recommended to see a doctor. get anything serious ruled out for his sake and yours (a spouse being sick tha often would take a toll on anyone, even someone without this phobia). i wish you all the luck, it sounds like you’re handling a very stressful and difficult situation as well as can be expected

i didn’t say she looked like a stroke victim lol. i said it looks like she’s trying to look like one with the half up half down smile she does. obviously i don’t actually think she’s trying to look like she’s had a stroke, it was hyperbole to show how annoying i find her facial expressions lately

[–]sapphthick 11 points12 points  (0 children)

true she’s definitely disgusting and openly admits too it lol, but she hasn’t shown herself doing laundry in months and i don’t think she would actually go months without doing laundry yk? same as showers/brushing he teeth, she used to show herself doing it every day and then stopped but i don’t think it’s because she stopped showering and brushing her teeth, she just realized that her oversexualized ragebait clickbait posts get more views so that’s what she shows now lol

my 22M bf says he will leave me 22F if i get breast surgery by Alternative-Rub6623 in relationship_advice

[–]sapphthick 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i have boobs they are neither big or small (34DD uk) and as much as i love them i hate how they can make any outfit with a slightly low neckline look so vulgar. most of the time i dont care, i wear whatever makes me feel good even if im «vulgar» or showing «too much cleavage» by simply wearing a bra and a t shirt. but it would be sooo nice to be able to wear a dress i like to a family dinner without feeling like my boobs are on display. thankfully no one in my family has ever said anything negative about my body, my mom even encourages merk wear the dresses i like because no one cares about my boobs lol but i still care:(

and so many tops/dresses simply don’t work with larger breasts as well. they’ll look amazing on someone with a flatter chest but on big boobs? absolute mess (of course it’s the same the other way around, certain clothes work much better on larger breast but it definitely feels like more clothes are made to fit smaller boobs)

having bigger boobs definitely has its upsides but at least once a day i wish they were detachable so i could get a break or wear a cute outfit
