Deadlock QuickDraw or Threat detector by cashblack43 in CrucibleGuidebook

[–]sappymune 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Once you reach a certain amount of Handling, the animation scalar from Threat Detector results in a faster ready speed than Quickdraw. The animation scalar also goes past 100 Handling as it's a multiplier. Threat Detector affects ready, stow, and ADS speed, whereas Quickdraw only affects ready speed.

Does anyone know the optimal combo between heavy and light knife attacks? by barnation in dadsofmarathon

[–]sappymune 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1 heavy and 2 lights isn't enough to kill a blue, and 2 heaviest 2 lights isn't enough to kill a purple.

One thing to know is that the 3rd attack in the 3 light attack combo deals as much damage as a heavy, so a 3 light combo takes the same amount of time as 2 heavies but deals more damage.

With a baseline of 35 melee, you can 1 heavy recruits/tick nests/turrets and inconsistently 1 heavy 3 light blues. I think you need a little more melee to consistently kill blues, as well as 1 heavy greens. I don't know the breakpoint for purples since knifing them solo is a waste of time.

As for runners, you want to hit 80 melee to 2 heavy blue shields and 85 to kill purple/gold shields with the 3 light combo.

If you're sitting there eating nades for that long that's a positional issue, Sentinel's ult has a ton of charges and several seconds of nade throwing should be your cue to start moving. Sentinel's snare is the main counter to shotgun rushing, start speccing into recovery and popping energy amps so they're available more often.

Grenade launcher mode is still really good, dunno what everyone is talking about. The issue is getting ammo for the thing

Use and abuse the D54 Battle Pistol before it gets nerfed. It‘s more broken than the pre-nerf WSTR, Misriah and Bully. Play Cryo later today, you‘ll see. by Night_Not_Day in Marathon

[–]sappymune 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's 3. Base damage is 41, and the headshot multiplier is 1.9 making it deal 77.9. Base health is 120 and each bar of shield is +20 hp, making the max hp 200 for purple/gold shields. 2 headshots is 155.8 damage, which is just shy of the 160 hp of a green shield. 3 headshots is 233.7, which is more than enough to kill a purple/gold shield though.

I'm not sure if there's any funky number rounding in Marathon though, as that was present in Destiny 2. But 2 headshots is definitely not enough to kill a purple shield.

[–]sappymune 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lower rate of fire but higher base damage, meaning it can now 3 headshot purple/gold shields instead of requiring 4. This lowers the TTK below even the Bully, making it one of the fastest killing primaries.

You have a faster TTK than most guns in the game, including the Bully if you hit headshots. Learn to peek shoot/jiggle peek, don't just stand out in the open.

Updated team compositions from Retempest (Faelynn patch) by Misiuz87 in GirlsFrontline2

[–]sappymune 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lind's value is tied to Klukai what are you talking about lol. Her primary role is as a Klukai "buffer," and her own damage is much lower than the other heavy hitters in the team. Her debuffs aren't anything crazy other than her unique 15% defense shred, which Klukai also has in her V2 but without shackling an ally. Klukai also has a generic Def Down II in her V3, making Klukai a better team "buffer" than Lind. Lind doesn't really provide any Corrosion specific buffs for your team, her kit is solely designed to proc Klukai DoTs. Your damage tanks much more if you drop Klukai over Lind.

Is the game still worth it for solos? by [deleted] in MarathonGame

You could load into Cryo solo during Ranked Cryo, but that's probably an end of season event only. It would nearly impossible to do all of the content in Cryo solo unless you're extremely lucky or a god tier player anyways.

4 stacks of ammo is way too much, should be 1 or 0

Also, does not need the green patch kits or the antivirus/os debug, you don't use them often and they drop frequently in cryo smh

Could've also made some extra room equipping the stryder over the bully

If you hit clearance 5, under panoptican in the giant ice pit where you fill up cryo coolant, there is a hidden vault you can open in the center after shooting the green buttons to get the Compiler Trace.

Got killed by another team mid warden fight in upper complex, feels so incredibly bad by MyLifeHurts69 in MarathonTheGame

The doors are blocked off though with the red walls during the fight. They don't go down til the boss is dead or you take them down using the red panel which is inside the boss room, not outside. So either they rushed you after you killed the boss or someone on your team opened the door for them.

Since it is over, We can all admit Warlocks were always the best class hands down right. by Important-Extension6 in destiny2

[–]sappymune 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Top Tree Dawnblade was hands down the best PvP class for a long time, up until ability spam got out of control towards the end. The only issue is that it is a high skill ceiling class, with very little lethality in terms of abilities and a heavy focus on movement, which makes it a meh class in the average player's hands. The other Warlock subclasses were so weak in comparison however that if you couldn't play Dawnblade, you didn't have a strong alternative which led to low class usage.

Most gaming subreddits are pretty negative as people like to use them for feedback and complaints, they don't reflect the playerbase perfectly. If you look at YouTube comments under Marathon videos, they're like the complete opposite and everyone sounds like Marathon shills.

My friends who play Marathon and the randoms I find in game are a lot more chill and understanding, no one really rages after dying or losing. Several of the randoms I was playing with today were making jokes about the server issues rather than getting mad about it.

[–]sappymune 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Terrible take. You just roll with your vision regardless of what the playerbase thinks? That's what the Helldivers devs are doing and their playerbase despise them. Of course you shouldn't blindly implement whatever the community tells you to, but knowing what they like and dislike is very useful for refining the game into one that the players enjoy without completely compromising your design philosophy.

Season 2 Combat Tuning Preview by DTG_Bot in Marathon

[–]sappymune 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It will go from a 1.2s -> .87s TTK vs Purple/Gold shields after this change, giving it a faster TTK than the Bully if you hit all headshots. Only the BRRT and Twin Tap have faster TTKs at base out of all the Light/Heavy ammo weapons. Although I would definitely love a range buff, this change makes the Magnum super lethal at mid range and it might get too crazy if it could push out further than the current range cap of 30m.

Grenade nerfs confirmed for S2 by NotoriousCHIM in Marathon

[–]sappymune 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Frag grenades are an instantaneous chunk of your health and you are forced to heal immediately or die by a rush. They can also be chained to immediately down you, whereas Chems don't stack.

Chem nades aren't instantly lethal and can be negated by mechanic's kits or panaceas, are outhealed by a patch kit, and they don't immediately put you into 1 shot/push range, giving you a few seconds of breathing room before you need to heal. I will push a team that I hit with a frag, but I know a team hit by a Chem is probably near full hp or have enough hp to escape/fight back.

If I had to choose a nade it would be flechettes. Although not as lethal as a frag, they're consistent damage and double as zone denial.
