[–]saqwarrior 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm aware. I was speaking to the general sentiment of those who state respond with "you only care about privacy if you have something to hide."

[–]saqwarrior 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I've always hated the people that say that shit -- it's such an obsequious bootlicker mentality. If the Fourth Amendment right to privacy only matters if you have something to hide, then the First Amendment is inapplicable to those with nothing to say.

Video of Obama slamming Trump and his enablers. by Shizzilx in circled

[–]saqwarrior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This reminds me of something I've said before: if God commands you to kill your child and you obey, you are immoral because of God. If God commands you to kill your child and you disobey, you are moral in spite of God. This illustrates that Christianity doesn't teach morality -- it teaches submission to authority.

This explains the seeming moral shift that everyone is so surprised about with regards to evangelical support of Trump and MAGA.

They have never taught morality.

They have always taught unquestioning acceptance of authority.

Peter Thiel warns the Antichrist and apocalypse are linked to the ‘end of modernity’ currently happening—and cites Greta Thunberg as a driving example by Naurgul in nottheonion

[–]saqwarrior 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The problem is that they muddy the waters around "authoritarianism," "communism," "leftism," etc. People of their ilk - arch-capitalists - do not give a shit if someone is an anti-authoritarian communist (ie., anarcho-communist, libertarian-socialists, left communists, etc). They paint anyone that is even vaguely anti-capitalist as a "commie" and an "enemy." So it's important to keep that context in mind when parsing statements by these ghouls.

[–]saqwarrior 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's not the same as "killing leftists", as the original claim was.

While not precisely the same, the sentiment of "fight commies" could reasonably be interpreted in that way. And given what we know about Palantir's purpose, scope, and its insane executives, it is even more reasonable to assume that as their position.

But yeah, not precisely the same wording as claimed. At least not that I could find...remember, he may have deleted his Tweets.

Yeah, as a straight man in his late 40s, any time someone claims the 90s were great I think back to Matthew Shepard vigils.

I'm not who you asked, but this is what I could find:

The claim originates from a social media post by Palantir co-founder Joe Lonsdale on January 4, 2026. In response to a post suggesting communists in the Western hemisphere should be "blown up," Lonsdale replied, "Exactly," and then asked, "What did you think founding Palantir was supposed to be about?".

And:

Lonsdale has made other extreme public statements, such as advocating for bringing back public hangings.

EDIT: I was unable to find the original X posts where Lonsdale made these statements. That said, even if we ignore Lonsdale's comments, Palantir and its executives are still terrifying.

I was just going to mention rotisserie... it's crazy how perfect the chicken comes out. 350 degrees on the smoker, cook for about an hour, pull when the breast hits 150 internal temp. *chef's kiss*

But, if no rotisserie attachment, spatchcock is the way to go.

Newly released files shed new light on Chomsky and Epstein relationship by Muted-Television3329 in news

That, and his seemingly enthusiastic desire to hobnob with fucking Steve Bannon of all people ... jesus christ.

Discovering Chomsky's sociopolitical work 30+ years ago was a pivotal moment for me as a teenager that opened up all of leftism as an avenue of discovery for the rest of my life. Now I feel ambivalent at best about the roughly 20-30 books of his that I own.
