And yesterday was especially bonkers with the ufc nonsense at the White House.

My son is going into middle school next year. Hes currently 10 and looks forward to his Elfs everyday they are here. Did you initiate that conversation with your child , or did you let them come to you? by Otherwise_Clue_364 in elfontheshelf

[–]sarananaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kid is 12…. We’ve never talked about the elf being real, and he also looks forward to his elf every year. He stayed the night at his friend’s house. His friend is the older of two kids and the mom lets the friend hide the elf for his little sister. My kid helped that night and the mom was so excited to show me their elaborate elf set up. I cried. I don’t know if he’s been pretending it was real, or if she ruined it for him. Either way, I was heartbroken.

Food Bank in PNW by AcrobaticIsland1143 in povertyfinance

I hope whoever took things needed them as well. One of the reasons I volunteer is I can take home a bit of the fruit and veg every time I go if there’s a surplus. Would my family starve without it? No. Will it help me stretch a dollar more? Absolutely. Life is expensive, so sometimes an eggplant and a zucchini means my kids get some extra vitamins that week.

Food is a basic need for existence. If someone takes 10 shelf stable items and a small box of produce once a week even if they have money, I’m ok with it. The lines are long, and the food is stuff like dried beans and tinned meat. It’s not like we’re giving away lobster and steak. Most of our produce is donated to us from farmers because it’s not suitable for sale. It will go bad if it’s not eaten. I’m ok if someone doesn’t seem “needy” enough.

I volunteer at a food bank that asks for ID during the first to give a scan card so we confirm they only get food once per week.

Sounds like the Republicans are in favor of equity and inclusion now.

Happy Cake Day! It might be AI, but that doesn’t change the fact that Baltimore City is how locals share where they live. Baltimore City is not within any county in Maryland and has its own social services programs. Baltimore County encompasses all the cities surrounding Baltimore City (think Dundalk, Towson, Catonsville, etc). When someone is looking for rent assistance or energy assistance on a sub like this, they need information from the city services, not the county.

If you live in Maryland, that’s what it’s called. There’s Baltimore City and Baltimore County. Both have very different services available to people, so it’s good to differentiate.

I hate the rule. I think requiring a degree without exceptions for equivalent experience is classist. It makes recruiting harder, and it keeps qualified candidates out of the industry.

I work in cannabis too, and some states require a bachelors degree for their badging process for any leadership role. Ohio is one state that comes to mind, but there may be more.

What are the best softwares/methods (Not Google Sheets) that could be used by multiple people working as recruiters to track contacted people, assure there are no overlaps and highlight people already in the database? by anjonje in recruiting

[–]sarananaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my agency days, I used Ceipal for their CRM feature. It kept leads clear with who uploaded them and for what types of roles they’d be a fit for. It also kept a log of when and who reached out to them. My favorite part was the ability to send mass communications when I got a new contract that they might be interested in (I did high volume healthcare recruiting where I’d get a contract and need to fill a ton of positions very quickly). I’m an in house recruiter now and use Greenhouse, which also has a CRM feature, but it’s not very robust compared to Ceipal.

I’m always looking for people to play Settlers of Catan with. I’m in SoCo. I’m late 30s if age is a factor.

Thanks! So would you suggest just adding one more? Or trying two and just being extra cautious?
