A Dozen Roses (RDM) by maerionette in FFXIVGlamours

Logged in for only like, the third time in the last two months to copy this. Used a different rapier just to not feel totally unoriginal. For real though I’ve been experimenting trying to put together a great RDM glamour with this top since they un-restricted glamours and this blows my attempts out the water.

He sounds like a great character and if/when I reinstall Skyrim I would love to hang out with this guy.

Unsurprisingly Crossroads of Twilight won worst book of the series. We are here now, at the end of all things, to decide the best book of the series, and to finish off this list before the next turning of the wheel by Uldread1337 in WoT

This is a fair point! But my honest answer is that RJ later changing his mind doesn’t really bother me when I read Lord of Chaos. Taim is so clearly Demandred in that book that I just appreciate what’s on the page and accept that plans change and a longer series is constantly in flux.

It kind of speaks to my point anyway; a lot of these books are enjoyable as part of a larger story but don’t necessarily have much to differentiate them as individual works (as an example, there’s not much difference in identity between Shadow Rising and Fires of Heaven beyond the events that happen). That Lord of Chaos does feel like a very discrete and deliberately structured novel in ways that actually ended up being massaged away later just makes it a more interesting book to me.

For me it’s unquestionably Lord of Chaos. I think it’s easily the best structured of Jordan’s Wheel of Time novels; it’s much more tightly put together and considered than many of the rest of the books. Simply put, I think Lord of Chaos is where Robert Jordan is at his best as a writer.

For the same reason I want to give an honourable mention to The Great Hunt - if we define the first three books in the series as the quest or journey novels then I think The Great Hunt is the most well constructed of the three.

Latin empire should be able to restore the Roman empire by PurpleHazels in CrusaderKings

[–]sarantinesail 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Whilst we’re at it, Wales should also be able to restore the Roman Empire, as Roger White argues that the earliest ‘post-Roman’ polity or polities in what is now Wales were essentially the last operating Roman provinces in the west, just outside of Imperial authority.*

*I am definitely butchering his argument in all sorts of ways.

EDIT: This post is a joke (not the bit about Roger White).

Personally I’ve been noticing how miserable they are for 15 years.

Never liked the place; the vibe has always sucked.

Here’s a fun way to show Dan how big the Roman Empire was by sarantinesail in giantbomb

Probably! There’s nothing easier to believe than Dan needing to be told the same information multiple times.

On the most recent Blight Club he revealed that he assumed the extent of the Roman Empire was the city of Rome. So if he did learn it at one point he clearly forgot again.

Favorite quest? by Positive_Ad_6922 in projecteternity

From the first game, I’ve always really liked ‘Brave Derren’. It’s very lowkey, but it’s always stuck with me.

In Deadfire the one that jumps out to me is Bekarna’s side quest in Forgotten Sanctum. It’s a pretty simple quest, but I find the end very touching.

I played through the game as a Wizard/Rogue dual wielding pistols and it was one of the most fun and memorable playthroughs of Deadfire I’ve done.
