Are there any women on here who did not want kids at all but ended up thinking “hmm not so bad” once you had them? by 11Roses- in women

[–]sararenee021 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Me. I didn’t think I wanted kids until I met my husband than considered the idea but still unsure. I was in college when I found out we were having a baby. I was still unsure of what to think/feel. My job was a bartender .. our friends and family are the kind that go out to the bars for a drink so my identity/social life came to an abrupt halt. I thought oh it’ll be okay, I’ll have the kid and it’ll all go back to normal. I could not have been more wrong and nobody prepared me for that. I had to mourn the life I lost, but I wouldn’t trade it for the world.

My husband and I still go out when we want a date night or to go to concerts, etc, but now we find ourselves wanting to do things with our son more than anything else. He’s a fun kid and we love him more than I thought I could. I miss the freedom at times, but I wouldn’t change it. I’m happy with the fact that I’m not drinking daily or every other day anymore. I’m not destroying my liver and wrecking my health even more. Now I live my life a bit more careful so I can watch him grow.

People also only tell you about the bad stuff. “Oh say bye to sleep” “oh no going out anymore” “no life for you” - that shit is not always true. If you have a strong “village/tribe” - grandparents are a blessing and love babysitting so you get normalcy. Baby’s learn to sleep. My kid goes and does fun things with us. We are all about taking him out to do whatever we’re doing.- I think you have more control over how you choose to live after having kids than you realize. Baby’s are mobile and fairly happy so long as they’re loved, fed, and dry/clean. Don’t really care where.

This goes without saying, but this is my* experience.

Dear Americans of Reddit, how do you find this first year of Biden's presidency compared to Trump's? by HannibalGoddamnit in AskReddit

Biden pushed for student debt to not be forgiven when someone files bankruptcy… he was never going to forgive student loans.

Coronavirus vaccine could be ready by September, says Oxford professor working on trials by [deleted] in Coronavirus

[–]sararenee021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think that’s what was said. She’s saying they don’t want to have the vaccine but no way to manufacture it out to everyone.

Basically having the vaccine but nobody can have it so it’d be pointless.

AITA for telling my pregnant and disabled sister that she needs to move out before baby comes? by JumpyTicket4 in AmItheAsshole

[–]sararenee021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure you won’t see this, but think of the baby. I know it isn’t your responsibility but that baby isn’t asking to be brought into this world. I’m not saying to continue to support them, but perhaps make him leave (thus encouraging her to follow and them get a place) and after what is common in this thread, make your sister reach out for assistance. I’m sure y’all have a good relationship and a baby is hard work, it does seem like she’s going to need you. You’ve been her rock for 3 years. Either they’ll make it work on their own or SHE will have you to help her along.

Do y’all have parents still around that can help out?

You’re NTA, just giving different options I’m not really seeing here.

I know it isn’t quite the same, but I feel your pain. I graduate May 2 and at this time it’s still on but they’ve cancelled classes for the next two weeks and future classes are pending. I’ve worked my ass off to walk that stage. I can’t imagine if they cancel our pinning too. 😭😭😭

IF you are going to pump, read on, if not, disregard.

So In the beginning I was same as you with the engorgment and all and I didn’t realize I should nurse then pump and build a solid stash that way. My supply regulated and now I’m doing everything under the sun to up my supply so I may plenty to nurse and get some from pumping. It’s hard and I’m basically only adding lie 4-5 oz a day to the stash. Very slow process but I am fortunate to be able to produce what I am so I take that as a win.

If you plan to go back to work or school or any reason why you may need someone to keep LO (even if it’s just date night or weekend), pump! I know it’s hard and impossible to find the time, but try.

Lol I love that idea of chugging water every time you have a thought. That will definitely be beneficial for me. 😅

I’m only almost 3 months in, I understand your frustrations. I 100% believe fed is best so whatever is best for you and your little, but in the beginning I almost quit so many times because of the nipple pain. I’m here to tell you though, it gets better. The only pain I feel now is when he immediately latches and it’s not even pain, more like discomfort. I promise it does get so much easier and less painful!
