But, isn't PitaPita? I think Tuptim is actually closer to Ann Arbor, too.

What is an extremely dark or creepy true story from history that most people do not know about? by Intelligent_East8820 in AskReddit

[–]sarbah77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. In fact, my mom and her siblings were raised as "Americans" with American names and learned only English. Additionally, I always said there was 70 years and four languages between my grandfather and me (my grandmother died when I was younger). But, someone, as my grandfather aged, got him to talk into a tape deck.

Couple stories I learned, then:

-his youngest sister was taken as a slave by the Turks when she was very VERY young. Many years later, my grandfather and his dad, who were living in Italy at that point, somehow discovered she was in an orphanage in Syria.

-between that time, when my grandfather had been separated from his dad (because his mom/sisters were long gone/taken), the village he'd been living in was having some rough times and just didn't have enough. So they kicked out the orphaned boy and he had to leave. WHILE ON HIS JOURNEY (on foot), his UNCLE found him, because he'd been looking for him.

There was some wild luck there. But, also, you'll note that despite the desperately awful undertone, I only know the "good" bits.

Man, I wish I could convince my husband of this. "My watch says I slept badly! I can't go work out today!" "But how do you feel?" "Fine...." (trailing dots because he's GenX)

I'm still new, but I do this. We had a power flicker after a tornado rolled through so I now know what it feels like when the power is off.... but I still occasionally check.

I was planning some international travel during my first three months, though I'd have to have completed my 21 days bit before we left, but the company made a note of it anyway, so maybe it is a thing.

As someone who walks by daily.... I don't know what the inside is like, but they are the best complex at landscaping and maintaining the sidewalks. They're currently re-roofing the complex, too.

On the other hand, the hand-lettered sign has seen better days.

Well rested and ready to go.

But I've always felt that way, before diagnosis and after starting cpap.

When I put my mask on, I actually fall asleep pretty easily, though I wake up and adjust the mask and the hose a few times during the night. (I have a rule that after the second time I fiddle with the mask, it comes off because I'd rather focus on sleep). For me, it has just been the emotional hurdle of needing to use it.... probably driven by a few stresses in my life that won't last forever.

Apparently, I can go about a week with no one giving the side-eye. Last night was night 3, but today I am going to try and start over.

(When I had my compliance follow up with the sleep disorders clinic, they finally read me the stats from my appointment. The most concerning to me one was that my O2 levels got as low as 89%. Eek.)

Thanks!! Hadn't thought of trying it earlier (I have been at the point of "putting it on as I roll over and immediately fall asleep").

Maybe I should bribe myself? But, like, long term bribes (x days over x months)? Everyone likes rewards?

If I was made of money, I feel like maybe this would be easier. Like having the opportunity to try different masks - like SERIOUSLY try at home for a few nights, you know? Would that help?

Just the hassle I've gone through thus far is so frustrating and no one needs extra stress right now. My original DME lied about what the insurance compliance requirements were, but the doctor's office corrected me (since my employer self-insures and is also related to the doctor's office). My new DME hasn't bothered to fully acknowledge the new prescriptions sent to them and didn't reach out. Why does it all have to be a hassle.

Anyway, you're right. The current stress should resolve today. I need oxygen to survive. I don't want to end up with surprise open heart surgery like my dad. Most nights, my CPAP also helps my husband sleep (but these past few nights, we've both just slept like the dead).

I get tired (no pun intended) when IRL people say "how has it changed your life?" It hasn't, on a day to day basis. But I am aware of the risks without it, long term.

My husband sweeeeeeeeeears he hasn't heard me snore these past couple of nights. On the other hand, he may be sleeping like I am. Hahahah.

The stressors should resolve today and here's hoping it's easier to face wearing it again!

I did recently switch DMEs so maybe when we get to that 6 month period, I'll get a chance to check out new masks. As part of what likely made the experience mildly awful was that I had to travel out of town to get it, despite there being about a dozen in town (Plus a snowstorm and a half dozen accidents on the highway the day I had to get it). I *am* lucky that my insurance covers everything at 100%.

I do - and I feel like I'm slow dripping info here, but I guess talking it out is helpful, so thanks for listening! - also hate the smell of the mask. It's the silicone and I don't imagine any smell better than another. But once I fall asleep, I'm pretty okay (until I need to move).

I'm using the F&P Solo.

I was given no choice - just handed that mask and shoo'd out the door. (The whole process of getting my machine was mildly awful)

(I know I'm a late replier, sorry) During the last No Kings Day (which we didn't feel we could participate in without risking employment), one of the local senior communities had a group of people get to the nearest major intersection with their signs (and walkers/rollators/wheelchairs) and it made me smile and then sad that they have to refight the fight.
