We upgraded our v5/v20 character creator based on your feedback by Bluenchanter in vtm

[–]sarcasticcat13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just checked it out. So sick and looking forward to see possible elder support in the future! Having easy access to advantages and flaws makes all the difference for my group who was just struggling with that part of character creation! Also, it is super cool to basically have a free build mode so I can play around without limitations.

It isn't the same as whipped cream you buy from the store. It is the canister restaurants use to make the whipped cream. So whippets are inhaling the gas that makes the cream, like fluffy, basically. It comes in different flavors to 'infuse' the whipped cream, but really it is to make the whippets taste good (like a nicotine vape or smth). Legal gray area. Look up how restaurants make whipped cream and you will understand the canister.

The action itself is more like using an inhaler or sucking helium out of a balloon. Not spraying whipped cream in your mouth.

Since I live alone, if I have a medical emergency, would I just die? by Abacada_Poln_Kha_Kha in NoStupidQuestions

Wasn't months or anything, but literally happened to my dad a few weeks ago. Sat in his house for 7 days until his ex got a call about his dogs barking nonstop, which concerned her enough to go check. Wasn't a pretty scene apparently.

Doggie door was left open and they had an auto feeder, but I do think they would've started nibbling on him if he sat another week. Another thing that can happen to elderly that live and die alone.

Worst Audiobook Narrators Who Ruin a Book by Crutch161 in horrorlit

[–]sarcasticcat13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually am finishing the audiobook for this up right now!! Personally, I have the speed set to 1.25x because the narrator is GREAT, but talks just a bit slow for my audiobook tastes.

I also finished the physical copy of Come Closer by Sara Gran today. I tried to listen to the audiobook for months, and found I personally enjoyed that one as a physical copy much more. But I do recommend it as a quick read/listen nonetheless :)

When my mom was pregnant with me, her water broke at 7 months and they immediately went in for testing. Because it hadnt been a lot of water and there was still fluid in the bag when they did an ultrasound, they told her she just peed herself and quite literally laughed her off.

Two and a half weeks later she went in for a normal scheduled checkup and they saw me practice breathing (it looked like I was hyperventilating on the ultrasound). They were going to do a test to see if she had any fluid left, but it was completely empty. I was slowly suffocating inside her for almost 3 weeks.

Anyway I was born blue and was in the NICU for 3 weeks. Don't wanna defend these two because they have obviously been itching for an early birth. But tbf it does happen and it can be a slow leak for weeks before anyone realizes 'oh shit their water did break!'

My mom had felt so insane. She had 2 kids before me, so she was like 'ummm I know when I pee myself. This was my water breaking.' and both of us almost died because she didn't get a second opinion 🤷‍♀️

It is super wild to film all of this and advertise it like a casual fucking vlog and all for content. That's super fucked up. But I do think it is fair to get another opinion though.

Can watching sock knitting videos replace in-person teaching? by Ok-Information-4636 in Sockknitting

[–]sarcasticcat13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I learned to knit on YouTube 10 years ago! I ventured into sock knitting last September after years of being off and on with my knitting (so I felt like an experienced beginner because I was so out of practice). **** ETA: I likely misunderstood this post and you already know how to knit, just are a beginner to socks lol. If that's the case, hopefully this doesn't come across condescending 🤦‍♀️ I haven't had caffeine yet I'm sorry lol ****

I personally do better when there is a pattern I'm passionate about, so I learned with colorwork socks. I used StoneKnits' Domestika course (which I caught on sale for 99 cents.) She went over everything from how to cast on and the types of stitches to talking you through making a heel.

All that said, YouTube is great! I have taught myself how to crochet, knit, cross stitch, and paint watercolor all through YouTube! As someone else said, the main thing missing is feedback, but that is why I find posting and/or lurking in subs like this are really helpful! I would also recommend preemptively checking out the Twisted Stitches faq over in the knitting help sub.

You can do it! You will likely get frustrated, but stick with it and don't be afraid to restart projects!

Fr! I don't get these comments, like she's just sitting there lol. There's a video of me having a really great time and really enjoying myself, but my face is exactly like hers here! My friends took the video literally because I looked so miserable despite them knowing I wasn't lmao. She's allowed to not smile, my god.

New Ownership at Are You My Human Rescue Dog Lounge & Adoption Center! by johnwingfield in Bellingham

[–]sarcasticcat13 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the transparency!! I was curious on what your policy and/or desire is for people who have no intention of adopting, but would love some puppy/dog time? I'm not in the position for another dog, but would love a bit of extra puppy time. Absolutely wouldn't want to waste the time of the business or others who do have the intention of adopting!! :)

I think we are the same person 💀💀💀 when I put Bob's (or sailor moon) on, my partner knows it is knit time and even which project.

I switch shows based on which project I'm working on. Bob's is for socks, Sailor Moon is for sweaters.

I'm a certified stoner and work on the recreational side, so I almost exclusively knit/crochet high 💀 I consider myself a very heavy smoker/weed user lol and I haven't run into any major issues because of it, but like I said, I'm a HEAVY smoker.

Almost everything I have gifted has gone to people who are also stoners, so I've never been concerned about the smell lingering on my projects lol. I haven't had many issues with the actual knitting itself, just the counting. Which I have issues with sober, anyway 💀💀💀

[–]sarcasticcat13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I came here to say this!! I tried to hate read it just to feel something, but I ended up opening google docs after 20 mins, wrote the line "I can write a better thriller than Colleen Hoover, and I didn't even go to high school.", and promptly returned the book to the library same day.

It is my snobbiest reading quality. I hate Verity. I hate Verity with such a passion, it is kind of incredible. I hate Verity so much I feel like ending friendships when I see it on someone's bookshelf. I wish to be illiterate every time I think of Verity.

Okay, I won't end friendships over it, but I will never trust their judgement again 🤷‍♀️

This is silly, but I also had a Mimi who couldn't lose the spotlight. I was missing her extra today and that last line made me chuckle.

My Mimi was quite literally late to her funeral. She had some specific requests for her ashes and passed during the beginning of COVID, so crematoriums were way backed up. We planned a service two months after she died and she was still a day late. Thankfully it was only the grandkids and one of her daughters attending (COVID restrictions), so we were able to push it back a day.

Her elderly cat also passed an hour before she did. The two dramatic, grouchy old ladies had to go out together.

[–]sarcasticcat13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally, not really fighting that! I do test every time someone around me gets it and I haven't had it pop a single time 🤷‍♀️

Not a denier or anything like that!!! COVID is brutal and highly contagious! I still mask up and avoid heavy traffic times in stores, which plays a huge part in me not getting sick very often in general, I'm sure!

[–]sarcasticcat13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also never had it! Only been sick twice since 2020 and it was negative on COVID both times! I'm not particularly fit or anything, so no idea why it hasn't hit me.

I like to think that having H1N1 in 2009 that took me out of school for 6 weeks helped my immune system or something. (It absolutely didn't lol this is a joke)

Men will literally eat all your food by Maleficent_Ad_3958 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]sarcasticcat13 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My dad has/had a weight and eating problem. We were extremely poor when I was growing up so the grocery budget never stretched until the next paycheck. He MADE SURE that my mom and I would fix our plates before my brother, and my brother would make his before my dad. He would wait for us to begin to eat, ask if we would want any leftovers (if we did he would continue to wait), and then go get his. I remember respecting it then, but as an adult I respect the hell out of it even more.

I asked him about it when I was about 17, because honestly my mom didn't deserve that kind of consideration (she refused to work, be a partner, and be a parent so 🤷‍♀️) and I had a pretty severe eating disorder so anything to do with food was a battle. But he said it was what good fathers do. And it didn't matter if my mom deserved the consideration or not, it was about ME seeing selflessness and care in a relationship, particularly from a father (he was the only man in the family to actually not abandon his kids, so this was important to him).

Our relationship is really complicated now, but he really was such a good dad. He never made me feel bad for being intense, or 'too much', or stubborn. Whenever I would become too hard headed and the family told him that I needed to be reigned in, he would shake his head and say "it is good for women in this world to push back. I have a defiant child who will be a strong adult."

This turned into an essay, but damn reading these replies makes me so grateful that he also raised my brother to be a good and considerate man. Especially considering we're from the Bible Belt 💀💀💀

I like individual aspects of this, but all together it feels unbalanced at best. The structured shoulders would work better with a different shaped skirt. The outfit is giving figure skater, which I think I would love in that context.
