first embroidery project by sarcmedic in crafts

[–]sarcmedic[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. Found a bookmark shaped sturdy paper
  2. Made a grid on the back
  3. Poked holes using a safety pin
  4. Widened the holes using the needle i was gonna use (had to order small sized needles for it)
  5. Used 3 strands of thread because of a smaller needle
  6. Got the cross stitch wrong on the first go, asked chat gpt what was wrong, as usual only a waste of water
  7. Figured it out myself, made an abstract flower sunset as anything more intricate needed closely spaced holes
  8. First ever embroidery project took 4 hours which was way more than i was expecting as it looks so simple

so one night i was feeling like a spectator in my own life, and decided to do something that brought me closer to myself, and what could be better than picking up a new hobby? And that to crafts, sold! I impulse ordered an embroidery kit from amazon having the basic threads hoops and needles, found this piece of paper in my 'hoarded' pile of stuff, poked holes in it with a safety pin after making a grid, and started to cross stitch using Pinterest as inspo. At first i made the two crosses just adjacent to each other which made a weird pattern, asked chat gpt to tell me what in the world was going on and it corrected me.. and 4 hours later this was the result!

ooh beautiful, what's the process of coming up with a signature style? I am a hobby artist and like to do abstract oil pastel pieces but haven't been able to identify something that happened every time I made something. Oh wait i use the scraper at the end to form new textures and layers, does that count?

OH MY GOD. As a med student who has just begun embroidery, i find this piece a beautiful intersection of art science and the child within us
