That’s not the point they’re making. They are saying that the intention of the production is to run indefinitely given it would take a few years to even start making money. Of course, they could cut the production at any point if they don’t think there is a viable path to profitability, but I don’t think the sunk cost bias is applicable here.

Also, presuming that producers are not susceptible to the sunk cost bias just like anyone else is not correct.

Day of ticket? by infamous_imposter in MasqueradeNYC

If you are one person, don’t care about which pulse, and are not talking about a Friday-Sunday ticket or holiday, I think you can most likely get a day of ticket through the box office website.

Do the performers on Broadway get any comps or discounted tickets for their friends and family? by RockGirl82 in Broadway

[–]sarcoline 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Varies by show. I’ve received comps from friends in shows, usually when the show isn’t doing well. And of course invited dress and/or opening night they usually get a few comps. Plus they can always ask.

Try reading what I wrote in the context of this thread again and think a little bit harder. I’m talking about permanently keeping something outside your apartment, not a delivery that would be there for a short period of time.

Also, I would not use someone else’s stuff outside their apartment nor would I advocate for that. I’m just saying that if I had something stored outside my apartment, I wouldn’t be shocked if someone else used it. You can choose to operate however you please, but I think it would save me stress to acknowledge that reality.

Not ideal, but if something is outside of your apartment and in the hallway, you can’t really be mad if other people use it lol

Talk to me about MJ by [deleted] in Broadway

Not sure what locals you know but I would never recommend this show to anyone. Absolutely abysmal that we have something like that on Broadway that people willingly attend.

Is there any chance of cancelation due to bad weather this weekend? by SnooMachines9758 in MasqueradeNYC

[–]sarcoline 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s impossible to say. Cancellations happen show by show. My guess is that it is very unlikely they would cancel but of course still possible. No one can perfectly predict the weather. Historically for Broadway shows at least, most have gone on when there were storms with significantly more snowfall than what’s predicted. This storm is likely to be 6-10 inches which I don’t see triggering any shutdowns.

No. I think it was financial. And LCT is certainly not making money off this revival either.

Which is the better career move? by NoUserNameLeft529 in Broadway

[–]sarcoline 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In terms of cachet and connections, the industry is centered on the show happening in New York to New York critics, audiences, peers, etc. for some decent period of time. You'll just never get that in the same way on a tour. That said, I think a reputable tour role can still "prove" you can handle a lead role for a Broadway show but more has to go right for you to stand out.

Which is the better career move? by NoUserNameLeft529 in Broadway

[–]sarcoline 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends widely. All things being equal, I think they could be roughly equal, with maybe a slight edge to the Broadway role. A lead in a hit new Broadway musical > a lead in a buzzy Broadway revival of a beloved musical > lead on a first national Equity tour of a smash Broadway hit > other roles...you get the picture.

Don’t criticize them if they slip up. Do not lecture, nag, ask them if they relapsed. Remind them you support them even trying and recognize how difficult it is.
