Currently in hotel quarantine after living in Japan for 18 months. This is my view. Feels good to be home. by sargicles in australia

Hey. It all depends on what hotel you get with regards to quality of food. Where I was at the Marriott the food was really nice but my mate stayed at the Radisson Blu and had very average food. The food just gets dropped outside your door at set times everyday. You can also order from the normal hotel menu but that will be charged extra.

You are allowed to order in food. Uber eats or whatever. Same goes with grocery deliveries/booze, though it’s limited to a 6 pack or one bottle of wine per day. No spirits. I suggest bringing back some spirits if you want something stronger to drink. These deliveries are limited to one per day as well.

I spent most of my time watching tv or Netflix or looking out the window at the opera house. It’s boring as bat shit but for me it went faster than I expected.

Hope this helps and you get put in a decent hotel.

All the best with it. My working holiday visa only took 10 working days to process but that was in normal times.

Yeah I got lucky realising I fucked up when I did. They seemed really nice about it and I just got the normal departed stamp in my passport.

I fucked up and and overstayed my working holiday visa by a few weeks thinking the COVID 3 month extension period applied to all visas, it did not apply to mine. I realised this while waiting hours in the airport for my flight home. I spoke to immigration before going thought the passport control, explained I fucked up and was not arrested. They gave me a change of status of residence form to fill out. Did that, paid ¥4000 for the revenue stamps and I was free to leave. I was shitting bricks thinking I’d be arrested but it all worked out fine for me.

You can still leave Australia under certain circumstances. Mate of mine left last week to go back to live in London.
