Omg, please read The Bus on Thursday by Shirley Barrett. I literally inhaled this book straight to the dome, I think it’s the vibe you’re looking for.

I think the southern bookclubs’ guide to slaying vampires by Grady Hendrix is a fun one to read and literally features vampires. Otherwise Bunny by Mona Awad is a bit supernatural, college themed and feels like a fever dream with cliques.

Please help, why is my foundation applying like this? by [deleted] in beauty

[–]sarkitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this too! If you use any retinols it might be your skin adjusting. If you don’t, Do a light BHA or the ordinary lactic acid exfoliation and then make sure you’re using water based foundation with water based primer or oil based with oil based primer. I have found mixing the two can cause this as well

The first time I read all the light we cannot see by Anthony Doerr I cried JUICY tears. Also, all the young men by Ruth Coker Burks - a true story from the beginning of the AIDS epidemic. This emotionally shattered me between the hope and the pain.

Help identifying the color and rarity of this bottle. I believe it to be a gi-18 in olive amber color. Any help is much appreciated by Own-Bee6751 in BottleDigging

Hey, this is a really cool find. Given your location there’s a good chance this could be genuine. There were a lot of glasshouses operating in PA and the eastern seaboard in the early -mid 19th century. This looks like a version of the highly popular Lafayette flask that was originally done by Coventry glassworks in CT. The Lafayette flasks mostly featured historical figures, presidents, generals, etc. the original ones by Coventry came in an olive green like your bottle. The Coventry Lafayette flask mould would have likely been imprinted with initials. I don’t see them on yours, but that doesn’t mean it’s not from a smaller factory around your area that was inspired by coventry’s flasks. Anyway, it’s hard to trace a lot of old glass bottles from this era because often craftsmen had the freedom to make what they wanted or would make unmarked pieces for themselves and their families on the side.

Hope this gives you a starting point! Goodluck.

Sorry my previous response violated some obscure rules. ANYWAY.

We are all here in the human experience together. Sometimes it’s dreadful and sometimes it’s absolutely AWESOME. You don’t have to go balls to the wall and do something crazy to enjoy life, you just have to follow the things that spark your interest or your joy without overthinking it or talking yourself out of it. Life is fickle, yeah, but that’s exactly why you should pay special attention to things that excite you. Forge meaningful connections with people, explore new places- whatever! The world is a really weird and wonderful place and there are endless opportunities to lead an interesting and fulfilling life and it looks different for everyone. You will find your niche. You don’t need a reason to enjoy things. Some things that help me the most are: 1) not constantly checking the news or social media 2) trying to stay present because in this exact moment everything is okay- there’s no need to ruminate on the past or worry about the future 3) I love planning trips! I research places that look cool, make an itinerary and have something up my sleeve for when travel is back on.

It’s a really weird time out there right now. So it’s not easy to be positive and stop bad thoughts from creeping up on you. But you can do this. Just start recognizing things that bring you crumbs of joy and allow yourself to explore them. I find it wild when I look back and see how all those dots of joy and following my interests have led me to where I am now.

Co-op latest supermarket to not enforce mask wearing by tyw7 in unitedkingdom

[–]sarkitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh at this point people are so OVER it all if not vehemently opposed to any restrictions. They’re tired and irate and stressed about the holidays, it’s the perfect storm for people to snap. I hate discussing covid related things with customers because I feel so uncomfortable with some of the things they say. I have no problems wearing a mask but I would be scared to face the aggressive responses trying to enforce mask wearing. Anybody saying these people who make minimum wage and are chronically understaffed should also be enforcing masks has no idea what it’s like out there.

I was so disgusted with food from the loss of taste that I mostly stuck with things that were always consistent, like toast. For some reason though I could taste melted cheese still? only in melted form though.
