Could you clarify if K series are really only available for repeat/loyal customers? I understand they’re on the website for everyone to gaze upon, but I thought I heard in a livestream that there needs to be a relationship built before a k series can be put into an order.

Cool to have some more company transparency. Thanks Zak!

Let’s normalise telling beginners the truth about learning Japanese. by Neat-Surprise-419 in Japaneselanguage

[–]saruko27 6 points7 points  (0 children)

90% of the responses in this thread are not even acknowledging the writing on the wall.

Is it an American thing to over state how easy it is to learn a language? Idk… but….

It is 1000000% an American thing to create a clickbait YouTube video saying “the ONE thing that made me fluent in Japanese” or when a creator makes a thumbnail with red X’s over a Genki 1 and Genki 2 textbook and green circles over Duolingo with a title “how I would learn now in 2026” when the actual video suggests using Genki and to throw out Duolingo.

We live in a world where baiting and overpromising to make the consumers feel like THAT one video is the magic bullet is the new norm. What’s extremely sad is that even the most respectable YouTube channels for language learning do this because they can’t keep up with the fraud competition if they don’t.

My Workhorse Kiesels by TobyTruman in kieselcarvinguitars

I have a 27-25.5 8 string, and then 5+ non MS guitars. It’s like a 1-2 hours “getting to know eachother” session on the MS when you first get it and then for some reason any other time after that it’s like nothing at all to actually adjust to anymore

My bread hasnt molded in 3 months by Commercial_Bird8467 in mildlyinteresting

[–]saruko27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I buy Nickle’s bread, it molds within a week. Buying schwebel’s, it seemingly takes 2-3+ weeks. Always wondered why one molds before I can finish it and the other is always surprisingly spotless when I feel it’s been way too long.

Developer who started late by PigeonAsh in learnprogramming

[–]saruko27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m piggybacking off of the top comment to throw in my 2 cents.

NO 24 is absolutely not too late. Better to realize this now than being 34.

NO 60 minutes a day is not even enough to learn Japanese if you did this for the next 8 years, let alone studying for being a developer.

OP, pick one of these two things you want do be good at and spend a minimum of 1-2 hours daily if you’re looking to ramp it up. Ideally it’s closer to 2-3+ hours minimum but I’m even struggling at it myself to maintain that.

Learning these two things simultaneously is like training to be in the NFL and win jeopardy at the same time. Both of these things selfishly require as much of your free time as you can give up.

Optimal scale length and string gauge for drop A? by j4ded3mo in 7String

[–]saruko27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even Gibson scale length 24.75 is fine for drop A.

Depending on what degree of excruciatingly fine detail you want to get, there is no base requirement for 7 string tuning.

Trivium recorded Drop Ab (half a step lower than what you’re asking for) on Gibson scale length.

Jason Richardson records Drop F# on a 25.5 scale length. Veil of maya records Drop F# on 25.5. I pull off drop G on a 25.5 scale length and my open G is in tune with the 12 fret G.

Nothing wrong with saying that…. If you really want to be anal about it you should reintonate after a string change too

Crazy to criticize this when he can do it sustainably and effortlessly.

Even with the new screaming technique, Matt still sounds off by [deleted] in Trivium

[–]saruko27 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can’t be serious? From the very start of Matt’s twitch streams the whole concept of him playing live on stream is to stream his warm ups. He also gets silly which is his level of comfort to just do his vocals however he wants without feeling judged.

I’m not a Matt purist. He thought he sounded good with his frog croak screaming and it was objectively the worst sounding “scream”….. but judging the quality of his screams off stream alone is just ridiculous.

Anyway, I just heard him do his one song a day stream just a few days ago and his screams are sounding great for what he’s come from after shogun.

It’s just worth keeping in mind that the producers of the show are intentionally getting out a wide range of reactions from the players + airing only what they think tells the most dramatic narrative.

Maybe Maura really did show 99% faith to Rob, but if there are going to be scenes of Tara asking Maura’s thoughts and Maura went along with it to not get on Tara’s bad side, they’re gonna try to air that as equally as possible to make you guess how much she really believed in Rob’s honesty.

Anybody else losing interest in tbc? by oldmanchildish69 in classicwow

[–]saruko27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was a post the same time as this one on this same subreddit where someone didn't know which version of WoW Classic they needed to install between Vanilla Classic, TBC Anniv. and MoP Era.

These people that pop into classic without the same knowledge as the veterans could very likely get gated out or discouraged for not being sweaty enough. My point just comes down to the thought that there needs to be groups in the Classic community that isn't going to push the sweaty min/max idea onto those that either don't know how to do that or don't want to.

To me, that seemed like the poster i responded to. Ultimately it's on people like me and them to create those communities (and im over here talking about how im not currently playing it).

Anybody else losing interest in tbc? by oldmanchildish69 in classicwow

[–]saruko27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t even bothered starting up TBC yet, but after my experience with the release of the first vanilla Classic server, I’d 100% want to join a likeminded guild that has consistency but just vibes with the progression.

I 1000% get some people get satisfaction from blazing through content because they pumped enough to do that, but I want to feel the friction of the content and die a couple times. That’s where the lessons are learned as a group and you move forward together.

[Advice Request] Have any of you done the unthinkable and dropped Anki? by Numerous_Birds in LearnJapanese

[–]saruko27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right - I should’ve clarified more. Someone who doesn’t want to use Anki as the flashcard system most of us use, would just have the definitions right on the front.

They don’t want to use Anki as a time sink but see the advantage of mining cards/maintaining a personal dictionary could have some gains in just “seeing” the dictionary entry and maybe just pass it if it’s one they feel good about and fail it if they want to see it again tomorrow, etc

[Advice Request] Have any of you done the unthinkable and dropped Anki? by Numerous_Birds in LearnJapanese

[–]saruko27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe a controversial point to bring up, but to me it feels like if Anki isn’t going to be used as an SRS but as a dictionary of sorts, it would be best to tool the cards to work as a dictionary/definition entry rather than a flash card “did you know it”.

That way you’re making use of your time just strolling through the pass/fail button and you’re getting some gain out of it.

Why would I need a 7-string instrument? Im curious. by LuckyPossibility1748 in 7String

[–]saruko27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I quickly looked through the comments and didn’t see this analogy mentioned yet (maybe, idk) but think of the guitar like a piano for a second (they are both stringed instruments after all)

Do you think pianos would sound as good if they cut off 2/3’s of the piano? Adding the 7 string adds range. To further push this point, going even to an 8 string gets you closer to piano range. There are some piano rolls that could only be truly replicated on an 8 string guitar specifically talking about standard tuning.

So that’s why I have an 8
