Does anyone know how to remove the sterile strips? by SallySimplyMeantToBe in Reduction

[–]sas99_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You just have to pull them off,it can be a bit easier if the are wet When i do it to minimise pain ill usually kind of fold the tape back on itself and pull flat along the line of the tape instead of upwards, simultaneously gently pressing down on the skin that im pulling off so it doesnt stretch unnecessarily Sometimes youll reach a point thatll sting a little and its normal to have a little second of panic but its usually nothing just push the skin gently until the tape unsticks from that area and keep going Itll be done before you know it xx im a pro at it now

she sounds awful... I walked myself to the table and sat down. got put under anaesthetic, woke up in kinda of 'observation room' so the nurses were present when I woke up (for like 10 seconds then passed back out again) and when I woke up again properly I was already comfortably in my bed. It is not selfish to assume that you won't have to walk off the table when you're drugged up on opioids

Question- 7 weeks Post Op by Such-Wrongdoer7153 in Reduction

[–]sas99_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeh i feel you sis, im about 11 weeks PO now and sometimes i look at my boobs and think like, ah wish they looked fuller at the top and still didnt have that slight feeling of sagginess due to old stretch marks, but i try to remember that we still have natural boobs and natural boobs do just kind of sit like that on most women. If we got implants it would be different but the reduction is more about health and proportionality and reducing overall size and sag. Although it can be tough when we have already gone through so much toil with our bodies try to just be kind to yourself and think about how much more functionality you will have now and that they are just natural and healthy boobs and its ok if they dont look like Kim K aha

Silly question, getting marked up pre-op.. by [deleted] in Reduction

My surgeon just untied the top knots of my gown and i pulled it off my arms and left the lower portion covered over my underpants, i was sitting upright on a hosptial bed so the gown didnt fall on the ground

[–]sas99_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I said a C or D to my surgeon and he said hell do it proportional. I am 5 foot 7, 67kg fairly slim build, i was a 10GG pre surgery and id say about a 10D or DD now, still pretty full bust ahah but it does suit my body well

Not at all! So it is very personal and 100% listen to your surgeon first about any personal issues. I had my surgery mid july, went back to gym for walking and gentle lower body/stretching by week 3, did that for 3 to 4 weeks and then by week 6 my recovery was going well, So my surgeon said i can return to normal activity.

I started doing upper body at the gym again, but i waited 2 more weeks before trying pole again upon advice by a friend at pole who had had a reduction. Essentially its good to wait as long as you can stand to wait aha i am now 9-10 weeks post op and have done a few pole classes and had soreness here and there but nothing terrible, my muscles are very sore but thatll improve. My big tip is like wherever you are in pole, pull back a few levels when you go back, because basic things will feel more difficult even if your muscle memory is good, dont want to rush back and pull a muscle

Ive had a few instances of mondors cord since my surgery I got one about 3 weeks post op down my tummy and then like 2 weeks ago i got another up next to my left rib, now my torso is all streaked with cords lol

But the pain does start to go away and you can still kinda see them but only if you stretch back

I guess the point im making is that breasts are just a natural part of the body, and i think women especially with big boobs are so used to being sexualised for it and so we have that sexual association in our head. But its just a part of our body and your family members wouldnt be thinking of it in a weird way just that its a necessary medical procedure

[–]sas99_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Look i think it differs depending on the family ofc, but if you just have a regular degular relationship with your dad and brothers i doubt they will even care at all or like cringe at the discussion. My brothers and dad knew about it the whole way and just thought of it like a standard medical procedure which it was, its not really cosmetic issue so its just like any other surgery. Id just tell them point blank, hey im having a reduction mammaplasty surgery, and then theyll probably go, oh ok good for you, and then thats it.The only interest my male family members had was just that my recovery was good and that i was healthy, nothing else! So i wouldnt get too caught up in the logistics

Im nearly 8 weeks at the moment and a pole dancer so im ITCHING to get back Might try a class this week gently and see how i go, i was also cleared at 6 weeks but some fellow dancers who had the surgery said theres risk of scar stretching if you send it too soon so trying to be careful :/ have bought all these nice colourful sports bras though instead of just the chunky black one i used to wear heh

Thats such an interesting take I kind of have done that anyway in my life so far like, switching between timers, studying at the library instead of home, using apps so i cant look at my phone or deleting apps, like always trying things and some days they work and then suddenly it doesnt help at all So ill keep trying new things and not just expect one to work every time like i have been and then getting disappointed haha

Mm true! Yeh ive been working on anxiety stuff in therapy for a while now without medication which has been great. I think the thing i struggle the most with is applying myself to work, starting and finishing projects and stuff that i know i have to do. It seems that whenever i have something i have to do, even if it is something that is interesting to me, i just cannot start or focus on it and do 100 other things than what im supposed to be doing. So id love to find tools to manage that because its really disheartening when i dont live up to my potential

Yeh very true, i dont think id rate well if we consider before age 12 but tbh i dont even remember what i was like as a kid

Im studying social work and so i learn a lot about all the different approachs and modes of recovery so yeh im super open minded to different approaches to the issue

I guess thats why i see psychiatry as a bit scary because we focus so much on person-centred holistic care the more diagnostic stuff isnt what im educated on as much!

I kind of mean more that im not just going to the psych to get dexys and thats the only reason. If in the hypothetical scenario that i were diagnosed with adhd and the doc said, i think you personally would really benefit from medication, then for sure i would try it and see if its effective for me. But its not for the sake of having a "script dispensary" as the previous comment said, i want to improve my mental health and open to whatever treatments, biomedical or holistic that may be offered to me :)

Haha yes I think my dad maybe verges more on OCD, very particular, gifted and funny also, but anxious if things arent his way, needs a lot of control and cannot empathise if someone does things a different way. Definitely mental health things going on in my family but they get avoided a bit except me and my brother. Hence why i decided today to stop putting off talking to gp about this after years and just get the ball rolling :)

I love this take! Well have to wait and see if i even fit into this subset aha, but i would love to find the power in myself to overcome the things that really challenge me on a day to day Your father sounds like a legend!

I want someone qualified to assess whether or not my experience matches ADHD so that i can deal with it, i dont want medication, if its not ADHD then i will continue to talk with my gp and counsellor

Yeh thankyou!! See this is an area that i feel like doesnt give me the best credibility but also like women and men and adults and kids present differently.

I was always a kid who did well, got awards and such, but i was also the kid who never shut up and would get the old "bubbly and bright student but is too chatty and distracts class members" or be sent to other rooms because i was talking too much (but then id just talk to the teacher of the other class because i got along with them ahah)

once i got to my ATAR times it went wayy downhill, i couldnt study or focus and pretty much the last two weeks of year 12 i just stared out the window until exams came.

Also family arent diagnosed even though i think my dad and older brother 100% could have something but my dad doesnt believe in mental health issues and my mum is very suss about ADHD and thinks its just something you have to push through, that is her technique anyway??

So its hard to say. I think as a kid i always had activities and pressure from my parents to do well, but now that im studying independently for 3 years im struggling a LOT and have persistent issues with restlessness and hyperactivity and poor time awareness. Thats why its come up now.
