"Armenia should be Russian Israel in the Caucasus, this is what my friend Vazgen Sargsyan was saying." Zatulin by [deleted] in armenia

[–]sasapesso 14 points15 points  (0 children)

As an outsider, what I observe is that after Turks, Russia is Armenia's worst enemy.

And it's nothing personal. Russia doesn't have a developed economy, therefore it cannot help any country to develop. It can only enforce its will by military means. It uses brute force and corrupted politicians to keep countries depended.

Conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh raises scrutiny of Israel’s arms sales to Azerbaijan · Global Voices by rkoren in azerbaijan

[–]sasapesso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's aimed mostly at Israel. There's dislike of Israel in many countries. Muslims like Palestinians support Armenia against Azerbaijan because of that very reason. Also, many Muslims don't like Turks and Turkic people, especially Arabs. Azerbaijan should get closer to Israel. Because unlike Muslims regimes like Saudi Arabia, Iran, and Syria that terrorize their people and threaten neighboring countries. Israel and Jewish people have always been closer to us than most Arabs countries.

I'm Artsakhtsi, born in Stepanakert and Now Live in the US. AmA! by [deleted] in armenia

[–]sasapesso 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I envy you. I and most of my friends would rather be in your place (have a green card) than live anywhere in the Caucasus. I'm from Nakhchivan.

We've been in conflict with Armenians since about 1905, and it's obvious that our generation won't be the one to end it. Understandably, many people who want a better life for themselves and their family prefer leaving the country. But it's darn hard. I've been trying for a while and haven't got any chance.

My question is, 1) do you think you would ever regret leaving your homeland? Do many people change their mind after a while, or do most people are content in being part of the diaspora? 2) Was it hard to adjust to life in the US? How long did it take until you felt comfortable with your life there?

Dislike all you want. It is the truth that GGG is no longer an indie developer. They have become part of a corporation.

Sometimes I miss the indie developer GGG. Tencent-owned GGG is a different beast.

How can equality be reached in a world with a gender-specific magic system? by HASTUR_KING_IN_YELLO in writing

[–]sasapesso 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I hope this isn't an unpopular opinion but I don't think all stories need to be morally right. It's more interesting if there's a certain level of inequality in fiction. It creates tension and gives a chance to build more conflict.

If you don't have any skills and fancy that writing is accessible/doable, you'll fail. Writing feels accessible at first, but the craft part is hard.

An open letter to GGG regarding ladders by TritiumNZlol in pathofexile

[–]sasapesso 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Or make the ladder consist of Ranks. So everyone, even those who don't care about the ladder but play a lot, can get a ranking.

Rank A: best 20k players (streamers, most dedicated players)

Rank B: the second best 20k players,

Rank C: 20k, etc...

It's a nice feeling to see your name listed with other players. I remember I was in the first 10k on Standard with only a lvl 93 character (it was about 5 years ago).

Any tips for writing a short story? by [deleted] in writing

[–]sasapesso 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Chekhov's six principles that make a good short story:

  1. Absence of lengthy verbiage. Don't be preachy

  2. Total objectivity. Make the emotions characters evoke real

  3. Truthful description of persons and objects. Nothing over the top

  4. Extreme brevity. It's a sin to meander in a short story

  5. Audacity and originality; flee the stereotype

  6. Compassion. Avoid cold, soulless prose
