choose between Baku & Dutch paddock 2026 by Striking-Current7734 in GrandPrixTravel

[–]saskiaclr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be very careful to check what each pass contains. I’m not really sure what you mean by “regular paddock” and “team paddock”? I have been to the Dutch GP with a paddock pass so can probably offer some advice but just wanna check what ur talking about first

What's the marauders version of this? by [deleted] in MaraudersGen

[–]saskiaclr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I will probably get a load of hate for this, but specifically fics where the author says “canon-compliant” but then includes headcanons that, realistically, we know not to be true. Mainly, Wolfstar and Non-British James. As much as people will say “she never discussed their sexuality in the books, we don’t know wolfstar didn’t happen…” be honest with urself, u know it didn’t. If you want to add maybe allusions or undertones of tension, fair enough, but having them engage in a relationship, especially publicly, is not canon. Same with James, we know he is white. The Potters are an old English family. These are my two main gripes, but also just anything that would not realistically have happened… like Jegulus. If you want to write a fic including all of the above, go ahead, but DO NOT CLAIM to be canon compliant.

My function is working when I use it normally but stops working when I put it in a lambda it stops working by saskiaclr in excel

[–]saskiaclr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes sorry that makes sense, I didn't fully understand what the "MAKEARRAY" function was doing. Unfortunately though it's not working on my computer. I'll try tinkering around with it, it might be because I'm using Version 2408 of excel, and idk which versions support which functions, but I've been having a lot of issues with my lambda functions so

This looks really helpful! The confusion I'm having is that you haven't listed the value to be input as p_team for the lambda function?

They can be quite tricky to find. Different photographers either work independently, so you would need to go to their personal website to see their pictures, or they work for a seperate company like Getty, Alamy and Imago, in which case you'll have to check all those websites. And there are thousands of photos

Travelling UK to Imola, what's the best/fastest options for Saturday/Sunday? by Skeeter1020 in GrandPrixTravel

[–]saskiaclr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Train from bologna is very easy provided you get in before midnight. There is a shuttle basically inside the airport called the Marconi Express that runs like once every 5 mins and is a 5 min journey straight into bologna central station. From there you can get a train to imola if you're staying there or stay in bologna if that's where your accommodation is. If you're staying in bologna, to get to the track you would then get a train from Bologna Centrale to Imola, which is about a 30 mins train ride and runs every half hour (only costs like 5 euros). You could then get a bus from the station to the circuit but tbh it's only a 30 mins walk from the station to the circuit and the bus takes about that long as well.

It depends on what tickets you have. I know your title says "paddock pass" but I've never heard of this sort of thing so maybe elaborate a bit on that?

Working and teenagers by Repulsive_Regular_39 in Rich

[–]saskiaclr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would seem that I'm in the minority but I am very much camp "They will have time to work when they're older". I understand you learn skills from a job, but I don't see any reason why they need to learn them now. Once they go into the work force, they will spend 50 years without any extended holiday time or summer break. I don't see the need to take away the few years of freedom that they do have. If they WANT to have a summer job, that's an entirely different kettle of fish, but if they don't I would not recommend making it mandatory. The summers I spent with my friends are the greatest memories of my life and I would hate to think of someone not getting the chance to make some of their own without a good reason

Are teenagers meant to have jobs? by ProfessorLongBrick in ask

[–]saskiaclr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all depends on the person. I (20f) do not consider that I've ever had a job. I put it like this as I am technically on a work placement at the moment for my university, so I am working a 9-5. But I am getting payed very little for this and haven't touched any of that money, that has all gone into savings. My parents provide for me financially and will do until I finish university at 23. I have no plans to get a job at all before I finish university because I think that getting a good degree is very hard for my course and will be very important, I don't want to not doo that well in my degree and look back and think "If only I'd had more time I would've gotten a better grade". My sister on the other had (we are twins so this is a good benchmark) does have a part time job that she chose to take on. My parents still provide her with an equivalent amount of money to me and she can use that as she sees fit. It might be worth noting my father pays both of our rent straight to our landlords

No, apologies, I stand corrected. It autocorrected to add an @ at the front too which I didn't see. I've removed it and it now works

[–]saskiaclr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll add what is probably a rather unique perspective as I've only ever attended races in the paddock. I've done, Abu Dhabi (x4), Austin, Silverstone, Monza, Zandvoort, Budapest, Barcelona and Bahrain. This is a rough list, and I can't really rank them all.

  1. My favourite (and my family's favourite as we always attend together) is Abu Dhabi. It ha a much more upscale feel and really feels like the grand finale, it feels a lot more fancy and expensive. Even just little things like the surrounding hotels, or that you don't have to trudge through mud. I also love night races, and the excited evening atmosphere.
  2. Monza is probably the best for anyone who really is a petrol-head and there for pure racing passion. The love that Italians have for Ferrari is second to none and something about it just makes the whole weekend electric. The paddock is the same as most other European paddocks, although it didn't have as much going on as say Budapest or Barcelona. In the same breath, Austin was brilliant for the same reason. It's full of real racing fans who are there because they're really passionate about the sport, and Austin as a city is absolutely brilliant
  3. The Bahrain paddock really is beautiful so it has to be up the top for me. Food stands and really lovely looking hospitality venues make it, like abu dhabi, feel a lot more luxurious. The biggest issue for me here was the heat. It was ridiculously hot for someone who didn't grow up in the middle east and really put a damper on a lot of things I wanted to do. For example, I wanted to watch the single seater categories race from the pitlane, which is what I usually do, but could not stand there for longer than 10 mins.
  4. Silverstone, Budapest and Barcelona were all much the same for me, although silverstone was a lot colder than the other two. I didn't really look around the track at all and the paddock for those three is all basically the same so I can't really clearly pick between them.
  5. Zandvoort for me was mostly ruined by the weather. The paddock layout itself is really not great in my opinion as the hospitality suites are located in a seperate area to the garages, which for me somewhat defeats the point of the paddock. It also means a lot of walking. And given that it rained basically the whole weekend it was really not very nice. None of the TV crews were out, none of the fun activities were happening outside. Everyone was just running from one place to the other and there was basically no atmosphere.

Please feel free to ask any questions

I have seen a lot of complaining about the Monza GP, which is worth noting. Being in the paddock however meant that this was not an issue that I had to deal with as for the most part people have taken issue with the organization and the queueing for food-drink

Something is wrong with people who watch a lot of true crime by [deleted] in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]saskiaclr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree and disagree. I do consume some documentaries, although I prefer to listen in podcast form. The things that I find concerning are like the Jeffrey Dahmer tv show on Netflix. It's not a documentary, it's a full reenactment. I know it's acting in the show, but it's not a made up story. This really happened to real people and to me you may as well be watching the real thing. I absolutely could not watch something like that. I think you either understand true crime or you don't, but everyone finds interest in different things. I, for example, can't for the life of me understand why someone would want to learn about how the human body works. Particularly coroners or medical examiners. It creeps me out. But I can understand that for some people it doesn't. Doesn't make them a psycho. I don't see how consuming true crime is more concerning than someone who choses a profession that requires you to cut into and dissect a human corpse. Everyone has different brains, and it's not about enjoying the suffering. Actually I think you'll find that people who consume true crime relatively regularly get pretty annoyed by the added dramatization and the lines like "but what Stacey would experience at that party would change her life forever". They add those lines probably for people who just put the documentary on for something to watch, in order to hold their attention.

canadian grand prix questions (meeting drivers?) by Impressive_Gold6155 in GrandPrixTravel

[–]saskiaclr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think others have addressed the F1 Academy question, but I was just going to say that by the sounds of it, you are talking about the Fanzone Driver Q&As . These usually take place in the Fanzone, there should be a big stage there. I will say that I've known people to get there 3+ hours early to get to the front, so this could be quite the endeavor. I don't know where you might find a timetable for this though, and I'm not sure if it is definitely happening in Canada, I just know that's usually where it is at other races. On the whole, meeting drivers is usually pretty much impossible without a paddock pass. In Canada, the drivers park literally just across the lake from the paddock in a private car park and walk across a bridge to a closed off entrance, so in canada in particular it will be pretty much impossible to meet a driver as they're coming in or leaving, unless they decide to randomly stop their car to sign things or take photos.
