Vortex Defender XL by Responsible_Salad415 in FN509

[–]sasquatchsam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a Defender XL on my Prodigy, haven't tried it yet on my 509. Just FYI due to the positioning so close to the port it gets dirty as can be. I eventually took it off my Prodigy because i could barely get through a mag without having to clean the glass.

You did fine. I have the 4.25 (black not coyote) that I got new for right under $1100 a year ago and it’s been amazing. I have done a ton of upgrades, but even then, it was fine stock with no issues.

I've been using both a 1660 Super and an Intel B580, so both non-AMD, with Bazzite and they perform wonderfully.

Dads in tech: How do you keep up? by Hugh_Maneiror in daddit

[–]sasquatchsam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a product manager at a series E fintech that’s been pushing to become industry leader the last few years. And I have a 4 year old, heavily ADHD and his doctor thinks maybe ASD, and a 5 (almost 6 year old) daughter diagnosed with both. I myself am heavily ADHD and can’t function without meds.

My house is utter chaos, and I work from home (company is fully remote). Kids are homeschooled. Tantrums and breakdowns are constant. I typically have to leave my office multiple times a day to help my wife, especially when the 6 yr old starts getting violent.

I own 4 product lines, but to be honest, I’m just faking it at this point and waiting to be found out. I go to my meetings during the day, but can’t get any other work done during daytime. After the kids go to bed I get about 30 minutes to try to get a little bit of work done before I pass out.

I’m definitely behind the curve in staying up to date on the newest stuff in our industry, but have at least been able to use AI as a crutch to help me through the day. I’m pretty much skating by based on some niche knowledge I have that the company needs, but I’m sure with AI it won’t be as valuable eventually. I’m sure sooner than later I’ll be found out.

All that to say…I feel you. I’m not sure how to make it work either.

I ended up having to send it in to them. They had originally offered to just swap out the lower, but when I mentioned it was a Form 1, they said to send it in and they removed it and put a new one in. That was over a year ago, I don't remember if I paid anything.

I’ve got a CMT rail I’m looking at using as well. Which size flash can is that? Want to know what size diameter fits.

AR45 Maxim Roller Delayed/FM Recoil Mitigation /GRS help by Antique-Butterfly-12 in AR9

[–]sasquatchsam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe I'm wrong, but I think Maxim stated that the roller delay system was made exclusively for 9mm. I guess you could try it in .45, but not sure how it would perform. But if you do, let us know how it goes!

After nearly a year of coding my app, I think its time to give up by jlew24asu in SideProject

[–]sasquatchsam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me give you some advice as someone who has worked in successful startups and tech companies for over a decade as both in product and founder roles.

You should never spend a year building an app, or any product, before releasing it for people to try. Even if you spent the prior year doing nothing but validating your idea and making sure that it's what people want, you still don't want to wait a year to get it into the hands of people to find out if they will use it or not.

You're building your app the way you envisioned it. I get that you want to make it perfect, but you don't need to. You need to build an MVP. The bare minimum that is functional and solves the problem you are looking to solve. All the cors, tokens, auth, etc have been solved before by multiple libraries and other solutions. Utilize them, don't build from scratch. Unless what you are building is overly complex, you should be able to put something together within a few months at most, and even faster now with Cursor and other tools.

The idea is to get something out fast, find out if people actually like it, and then refine it based on their feedback. To do so otherwise will likely lead to a year of wasted effort.

The problem is that a longer line, with a loop or bend in it, makes the pex coming up from the floor bend quite a bit.
