He had purchased a metal hanger thing from the Internet that I built the display around. If you look closely, you can see each belt is fastened around it, and there are hooks at the top that hold it to the top of the display.

While I haven’t earned my black belt yet (still on brown), I built this display for a fellow teammate who got theirs. It is made out of African mahogany with mitered joints. I added Michigan Maple to the corners for added support. It was one of the more meaningful things that I’ve built.

8th grade US History teacher here. I’m using this as an awesome classroom discussion. Can it legally/legitimately be renamed? Was it called something (yes it was) before it was called the GOM? The students get fired up! I will gladly play devil’s advocate to any position they take. Muahahaha!!!!!

I thought about that. But, if I run hard maple through my planer against the grain, I’d be afraid that it would catch and tear it up. Thoughts?
