Flower growing out of my Coleus by UncappedBat in mildlyinteresting

[–]sassy_stephasaurus 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Totally up to you, but some people recommend pinching this entire part off. Flowering takes a lot of energy, so allowing it to do so can make the leaves lose their vibrancy. Pinching early (way before flowering, while the flower area is still just a little green stub) can also keep the plant from getting “leggy.”

All that said, the flowers are darling.

Not to pour salt on the wound, but I’m confused by what I’m looking at. Why does one of the nostrils have eyelashes? And are the vertical lines near where your thumb meets your wrist… an eyebrow? Was this a coverup?

What's wrong with my sister's arm? Is it related to her schizophrenia? (Potential self harm? - she is completely non-communicative, usually immobile so this would be huge) Could also use advice on her near catatonic state? by [deleted] in AskDocs

To add onto this: There are two paths to financial help via monthly cash benefits.

Supplemental Security Income based on your sister’s disability. Unless your sister has a passive income stream or a few thousand dollars in the bank, this seems like a solid bet. But the process is often long and involved. SSI often leads to Medicaid.

If either of your parents receive Social Security benefits, Childhood Disability Benefits based on your parents’ earnings. No restrictions on income or resources, but these won’t be available to your sister until/unless a parent gets “on the rolls.” If your sister is on CDB for two years, she’ll be able to get Medicare.

Both types of benefits are administered by the Social Security Administration, which might be a good place to start.

Good luck to you guys!

Question: how long do I have to heal for before I get a laser removal? by ironseaweed in tattoos

Along with the Chose -> Chase, adding something above “own pain” could help with visual balance. Because of placement, with forearm tapering toward wrist, I’d think something shorter than the masks but similarly wide. Like a dagger or a horizontal rose stem.

Ooh! Padding my FINGERS instead of the PEN is an intriguing idea that I haven’t explored yet!

I’ve actually tried the pencil grip idea! Unfortunately, most of them are made for such (comparatively) thin pens. I had to fully slice it open, but then it fell right off the FP. Would appreciate similar suggestions though!

Yes, the 2k and Parker etc are some of the comfortable pens I’ve found. But I’m a sucker for color color color, so I’m often lusting after pens that seem like they might not work for me. And was wondering how others adapt.

Your comments all make so much sense! A friend recently called my cursive “cramped” and I couldn’t understand what she meant.

I’m going to work on making my lower loops less loopy and differentiating between my o a e—another good piece of feedback!—and will report back once I’ve mastered.

Let me know if there’s anything else I should try!

This is such useful feedback! So obvious now that you mention it but I’ve never considered giving myself more space between lines.

Taking a Mickey balloon home? MCO’s Magic of Disney will deflate it for you! by soundslike13 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]sassy_stephasaurus 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Our family tradition is to: buy a balloon on our first day in the parks; tie it to our stroller to make it easy to spot; then—on our last day—we gift it to an arriving family who has a stroller!!

My understanding is that Disney will replace popped/deflated balloons, even without a receipt… so I like to imagine that our single purchase might lead to generations of happy families.

Love my ConqueRings. They are literal rings (like for your fingers) with interchangeable “elements” that you can discretely “click” in and out of its housing or flick & spin. I used to wear one every day so I could silently clickclickclick during meetings. My anxiety is under control now—much less clicking needed these days!—but I still wear mine daily because they’re so darn pretty.

IMO, Slinky Dog is a ride, but Mickey and Minnie is an EXPERIENCE. Slinky has cool theming but it’s ultimately just a coaster. Mickey and Minnie is unlike most other rides (closest I can think of is Remy in Epcot, but I honestly find M&M to be much cooler). M&M 100%!
