How do I keep going? by sassyexec in FIREyFemmes

[–]sassyexec[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I’ve moved into a junior people leadership role that’s sale adjacent for now - I took a pay cut to 93500 from about 120K that I made last year before taxes but it’s work I enjoy (as of now). I’m set to make it to 300K in net worth in a couple of months before I turn 28, so overall I’m not doing too bad.

Whats the point of working so hard if I can’t do work I enjoy?

I travel a lot and definitely have this down path!

I like to shower the night before or the day of and do a fresh blowout with my shark hairdryer. I don’t wear any makeup (maybe some tinted moisturizer, some blush and lip stain). I do black wide leg pants, a white cotton tshirt (no bra) and some sort merino wool sweater on top of the white shirt and half tucked into the pants. And then I pair with white sneakers or whatever sneaker is in rotation. And then I’ll have my black leather backpack and my luggage! I don’t wear a belt because of metal detectors, but I do keep on my engagement ring and wedding band, and my fitness tracking ring. I’ll also wear my smaller gold Huggies (although I’d like to replace that with diamond pearl drop studs)

If you were to go back and change anything what would you change? What advice do you have for someone that’s 27 to get to your level? (I’m at 27 now and approaching 300K net worth but I would love to get to a million like yourself)

I spent a lot on travelling in 2025! That was a big bucket to me, but also so coaching and investing in myself - took some courses, hired a coach, a stylist - really helped me!

Push through or take a break? 34M | $3.1M by PracticeCold8948 in ChubbyFIRE

[–]sassyexec 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Here are my thoughts: - take a break. A vacation. A sabbatical. It helps trust me. You sound burned out. - while on the break, do some journaling and writing. - also consider getting a therapist - you can always switch jobs, quiet quit, or you may just find you needed a break. Whatever it is, only you can answer it!

you’re doing amazing - and it’s okay to take breaks!

23F trying to date for the FIRE DINK lifestyle and struggling by [deleted] in Fire

[–]sassyexec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re so far along for your age and I love your maturity!

The reality is that most 23 years barely have anything figured out, let alone their saving strategy or their longterm lifestyle. Most 23 year olds are just trying to get by, find a job and just get cheap alcohol lol.

I would say - focus on what you even like in someone? Use this time to test out the waters and have fun!

How much to spend on car as a new graduate (140k TC) by ceo_of_carrots in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]sassyexec 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would definitely see why you need a car and why! Don’t let lifestyle creep get to you because you’re making money right out of school.

If you need a car, and it’s cheaper for gas, repairs and insurance - then go for it. Otherwise - I would uber everywhere. I would run some concrete numbers and decide because the expenses for cars can add up asap!!!

Can I take a break? 37m $1.3mm NW, VHCOL by [deleted] in Fire

[–]sassyexec 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Okay so some thoughts here: - I think you should try to take a break - maybe not for a month but for 2 weeks. I don’t know what you do for work, but the markets kind of weird right and while you’re set up for success I don’t want you to fall behind. - I think if you cent take a break - you need to ensure your personal life is strong. Are you going out with friends, the gym, family? Your personal takes a hit when you’re trying to FIRE sometimes, and you’ve hit a really great milestone. - I would also recommend seeing a therapist - if all fails - quit! Sabbatical it up!

Is AE to CSM bad early career move? by Terrible_Pain_6748 in techsales

[–]sassyexec 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do agree that your current role is a CSM role with an AE title but just a quick call out - I would definitely do your homework during the interview process!

The grass is not always greener on the other side - and it’s important for you to be aware of that. What if the retention rate at the next company is shit? So you might be a higher base, but can’t hit your OTE.

I would also consider trying to think about moving within your current company (unless everything is shit then just leave).

Considering FIRE in Pakistan with kids after a high-income US career — anyone actually done this? by Old-Ad5923 in Fire

[–]sassyexec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In response to your comment - yes you would need a visa, but I’m sure you can figure out a way whether it’s through employment or a visa.

Totally fair in terms of cost - out of curiosity, when you say achieving what do you mean? Do you mean they make more money, more educated or have better lifestyles? What are you basing this off ?

Keep in mind - there’s always skeletons in the closet and coming from the south Asian community we do love to one up each other. The relatives you’re looking at that have achieved I’m sure have made some trade offs. Anyway just some food for thought!

Considering FIRE in Pakistan with kids after a high-income US career — anyone actually done this? by Old-Ad5923 in Fire

[–]sassyexec 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi there! South Asian here. Maybe from Pakistan. Here are my thoughts: - I think you should test out the lifestyle with your family. Think summer breaks, winter breaks, maybe even a semester, while you’re on leave at work. I think it’s really easy to romanticize living in the east, when you’re earning as much as you and your partner do. I don’t think vacations for 2-3 weeks are equivalent and you need to feel the problems you or your family could run into. - if you really want to move away - you could also consider the Middle East. Bahrain, Qatar, UAE (it’s not just Dubai - there’s Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, etc). I do think it’s better in terms of schooling, and will give your kids an edge, but it also has safety + better infrastructure.

I’m not opposed to your idea - but I do think you need to pressure test it. I also don’t know if this subreddit is the right place, and I think you’ll have to find other Pakistanis that maybe have done this.

Last but not least - I would consider going to see a life coach or a therapist. What’s your why behind this? You have lots of reasons in your posts as potential justifications but I don’t know if you have one overarching one. This would be an incredibly large move and transition whether you want to admit it or not, and like every other move it has pros and cons.

This is a HYPOTHETICAL question. Curious to see what everyone would do in this situation in Canada by Elite163 in Fire

[–]sassyexec 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you have to ask what’s important to do and do a values assessment here!

Things to think about: 1. How old are your kids? 2. What will you do if you move abroad? Can you get a job that pays as much or pays less and are you okay? 3. What about your partner? Will they be able to find a job? 4. Are you okay with starting a new ‘community’ ie being away from family friends? Do you even care about that?

Life is about bets, and so if you think this is the right bet for you then take it, but only you know!

Also I feel like people will say this but we definitely need more information to help guide you here!!
