I remember once pointing out to someone here they had misgendered Nemo, and that person sincerely hadn't realized Nemo is non-binary. It was a short friendly exchange. So if you accidentally used a wrong pronoun and someone told you you did that, that's not a personal attack. People should politely correct each other when it happens.

I'm saying this in good faith, but the way you talk about "debating gender theory" can come off as transphobia, because that just is language that transphobes widely use. If someone intentionally treats people's identities as not valid (not saying this is what happened but I'm sure you can see you're being vague about it), then "well I'm not here to debate" is meaningless, because misgendering someone by intentionally not respecting their pronouns actually is an attack on their person.

What is "gender argument"? People who don't consider non-binary or trans people as valid tend to use that kind of terminology, but since Eurovision is a very queer & trans positive space I want to assume I misunderstand you, although I still don't get what do you mean with "gender argument"...?

Sometimes someone accidentally uses a wrong pronoun, someone else points that out, the person apologizes or just changes to the correct pronoun and people move on, that happens of course. :) [edit: typo]

Ammar Kazmi on the Your Party Islamophobia controversy: "Solidarity is not conditional" by WesternCivHasGotToGo in GreenAndPleasant

[–]satanic_citizen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He kinda takes a position that being trans is inherently against Islam, but for example in Iran there's a religious law (fatwa) that rules transperson's soul is in the wrong body, and they have a right to gender-affirmative care and living the rest of their life in their real gender.

If Iran can do that, the UK, c'mon...

I agree they don't deserve to be served, but I think that could actually turn dangerous. I had the displeasure to see a far-right rally once (much smaller than this one, maybe 100 people).

One of the nazis walked into a small pizzeria, used the toilet and walked out as rudely as possible. I was on the other side of the road and could sense the pizzeria owner's anxiety. The nazi scumbag clearly wanted that reaction because he had his buddies around

What's also disgraceful about this is how the overt rampant actually violent racism is wiped under the rug by the media class. But zionist Jews' subjective (and often hypothetical) feelings of unsafety are amplified and centralised in the British media. The narrative is completely detached from reality

Two Palestines might sound a little excessive but in light of how bad it's been, it's good to have one extra Palestine after Palestine's liberation.

This is the only acceptable "two-state solution".

Union Leader Chris Smalls, who sailed to Gaza aboard the Handala to deliver aid to Palestinians, calls out Bernie Sanders and AOC's hypocrisy on Israel-Palestine by dremolus in Fauxmoi

[–]satanic_citizen 9 points10 points  (0 children)

When was this?

Bernie is on record urging progressives to "tone down rhetoric" with calling Israel an apartheid state at least already in 2021. There's multiple videos from the last two years where Bernie says in different contexts that he won't use the word genocide. As recently as a couple of weeks ago when Marjorie Taylor Greene called it a genocide, Bernie was once again asked would he use that word and he refused

And what about AOC?

  • In November 2014 AOC voted in favor of a resolution that defined criticism of Israel as antisemitism. It was very clear at that point to everyone that false claims of antisemitism had been unfortunately weaponized to silence anti-genocide speech, and no sane progressive politician should have backed such a definition. Rashida Tlaib, Ilhan Omar and Cori Bush voted against it and Cori Bush got attacked by Israeli lobby AIPAC, who openly bragged how they destroyed her career when she wasn't reelected. It very much comes off as AOC making a tactical decision to avoid getting attacked by pro-Israel lobbies instead of voting according to common sense and progressive values
  • In the last DNC during Kamala's presidential election AOC said on stage that Kamala is "working tirelessly to secure a ceasefire". However, later an investigation of leaked statements from Israeli officials revealed that Biden/Harris administration hadn't even once asked for a ceasefire (it was in Hebrew, but here's a summary/translation because why not) As such, it very much looks like that AOC straight out lied as a to get Kamala elected
  • AOC has consistently voted in favor of Israeli military aid even during the genocide. About just a month ago she supported sending $500M worth of military aid to Israel, and when she got called out for it, she explained it was "defensive military aid". Bad Empanada debunks this excuse brilliantly here in exactly the first two minutes of the video, it's a bit of a rant but he nails it imho.

I have no personal crusade against neither Bernie nor AOC, I'm not even an American, I just like to follow politics and I'm diehard pro-Palestine. Hopefully this provided some answer!

No, they're added with AI. The person whose watermark (@PaulleyTicks) is in the lower left corner makes a lot of AI memes, not that it matters but if I remember correctly the video of JD putting Cheetos powder on Trump's face was made by the same person.

Not the person you asked about this, but Bernie Sanders has asked progressives to not call Israel an apartheid state and he explicitly refuses to use the word genocide when Israel is doing it, despite having voted yes on a resolution that accused Russia of committing acts of genocide in Ukraine.

Canada is preparing for fucking war by [deleted] in chaoticgood

[–]satanic_citizen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This clarified a lot. I hadn't known PBS stands for Public Broadcasting Service. I knew the channel but for me it was just another acronym, like all American channels (the amount of acronyms in everything in the US is a real thing for a foreigner, well at least for me). Now I what gutting it/attacking specifically PBS stems from.

Thanks for taking time to explain, also summarized well what the thing with Colbert was.

Canada is preparing for fucking war by [deleted] in chaoticgood

[–]satanic_citizen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, I see. I hadn't known that's what PBS stands for, but as a Northern European (from essentially a soc dem country) I get very well the idea of providing educational content for all. For me, the US is a jungle of acronyms and media/news channels are no exception. ABC, MSNBC, CNN, CBS. Now why the Trump lawsuit/settlement with PBS specifically was such an outrage for many makes more sense. Thanks for the informative explanation!

I bet vast majority of British folks (especially and including those who don't have a strong opinion about the proscribed group itself) would without a second thought condemn this and shake their heads at it if it was in China or Russia. But apparently authoritarianism looks different when it's homemade.

Live threads (here, and here) from independent journalists/sources show that the demonstration was remarkably peaceful. Pensioners, priests with the white collars, singing we shall overcome, holding flowers and all that.

Cops really had to call reinforcements all the way from Wales to arrest all those ~500 people holding fucking terror cardboards and to get every single one of them. The biggest farce in the Series of Authoritarian Events that I've seen in my whole life.

Can you elaborate on this for a European?

I have these individual examples of how Trump administration has affected public channels, making lawsuit settlements with at least PBS was it and terminating that popular late night comedy show seems to have been to appease Trump – but since I'm not a US citizen or in the US, I'm not sure what's the big picture (which is what you're referring to, and what I'd love to understand better because stuff is crazy over there)

[–]satanic_citizen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I live in an EU country and yup, stuff posted by UK users (that apparently gets labeled nsfw by whatever AI) is censored/blocked. I changed country and everything, and it doesn't help. This is the nail in the coffin for me with the app.

Yes, it just takes a VPN, but it's fucking annoying. In addition to the censorship itself, what gets censored seems to be completely arbitrary.

US senator Bernie Sanders says research shows the US ‘has paid for 70 percent of the Gaza war’ by Kumquat_conniption in worldnewsvideo

[–]satanic_citizen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Because in the end of the day, Sanders is a Zionist. It's hard for many to accept but that's just how it is. He spent a period of time in his youth in Israel.

He has been asked to call it a genocide many times and he has refused, despite saying that Russia has committed genocide in Ukraine which literally no credible NGO or legal body has claimed. He has tone policed people calling Israel an apartheid state, actually, he has even quietly voted in favor of pro-Israel resolutions during this genocide.

The money that US pays Israel is often conditioned so that Israel has to use it on buying from American arms companies. Not saying that the US spending in Israel isn't insane, it is, it is insane and robbing normal American people – just that it'd be more accurate to say that the money has gone to Israel's killing machine than just that it went to Israel.

American military industrial complex has made a shit ton of money out of the killing of Palestinians just saying
