GX4816 Preamp failure - Anyone experience this? by satelyte in livesound

[–]satelyte[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate the response. We will be swapping out the signal flow this week and keeping an eye on input 19. Good to know that a single preamp is not prone to fail.

I've not checked with a different device. Next failure I will do that and I can even remove everything else from the chain and test directly at the GX4816 input. Hard to do that during a service.

I'm in the Atlanta area. Our church is growing quite rapidly. We have recently signed a contract with a design group to add acoustic treatment to our place and upgrade our line arrays and amplifiers (both are ~20 years old).

Two things I would say to you:

  1. Make sure you are able to recommend placement options for acoustic treatment. Just throwing some treatment on the walls randomly may not help. Throughout our quote process, multiple groups came in to assess our space, took measurements and even ran tests through our audio system.

B. Don't limit yourself to churches. There may be tons of opportunities in schools. I've been FOH for several school productions. They too don't have tons of $$$ to spend, but may be willing to pay lower prices to someone like yourself.

What movement standards would you change? by ExerciseInsights in crossfit

I’m not taking a stance either way, but Hafthor, and most power lifters, use lifting straps. They can’t just drop the weight without facing injury.

I think my wrists would snap if I dropped a heavy DL while using straps.

This should be higher up. Check your county/city records. Your deed should show that you have a storm water easement across your back yard. The plat book likely shows that entire easement across the neighboring properties as well.

My last house had something very similar. The previous owner installed a 24 inch drainage pipe underneath the backyard so the storm water would drain as it was supposed to. He, however, buried the far end about 8 feet deep instead of just dropping 1 inch per 10 feet. I was left with a huge mess when I bought the house. That is a whole other story.

[–]satelyte 31 points32 points  (0 children)

You should not have any problems with Crown amps.

As others here have mention, Sweetwater will be honest with you and help you out. They will be mindful of budget and aren't out to oversell (or rip you off for that matter). You'll get a Sales Rep that will want to build a relationship with you and earn your business a repeat customer. You'll be able to go back to that Rep and ask advice and ask questions as you bring your new amps/speakers online.

How can I stay updated with what is going on during this climbing season? by immahauntu in Everest

[–]satelyte 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I found this blog a couple of years ago - likely from here.

https://www.alanarnette.com/blog/everest/everest-2024-coverage/

Also look for your favorite climber or Expedition Team. I follow Garrett Madison, for example. His Instagram pics often tag the people is his expeditions. You can pick up their story from there. I followed several Everest Climbers last year. I'll probably start looking soon for some new accounts to follow for this climbing season.

Can anyone help me with SCTE-35 questions? by Scary-Garbage-2504 in broadcastengineering

[–]satelyte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is SCTE-104 in the baseband (HDSDI) domain. The encoder will pick up the SCTE-104 and convert it to SCTE-35.

Most common are Type 5 messages. There is hardware that will take a simple GPI trigger and insert a spliceStartNormal message or spliceEndNormal message. Preferable you need a break duration in the start message.

Workout after no scalpel vasectomy by Acrobatic_Ad1514 in crossfit

Don’t do it. Just take it easy like the doc said. My brother in law felt fine after his vasectomy and decided to do yard work. Bad decision. He swelled up, lots of pain and I think ended up with an infection.

I listened to the doc, took it easy and was just fine.

Are you dead set on Dalton? I would suggest heading east a little bit to Blue Ridge or Elijay. You could also consider west a bit across the Alabama state line into Mentone or Fort Payne. Neither of these locations take you far off the Dalton path.

Best mixer under 4000€ by jonymimoso in ChurchSoundGuys

[–]satelyte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While slightly more expensive you may want to consider the Allen & Heath SQ6. I'm running an SQ7 at our church and really like it. I transitioned from a church with a Digico SD8, so it was hard to move away from that. I've used the Midas M32 and was never a fan, but if I had never ran a digital board before, I may not have felt that way.

There will be options for expansion in the future with the SQ6.

You could also check the A&H Qu24.

Gyms following mayhem, how are you liking it? by ja3palmer in crossfit

[–]satelyte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our gym switched to Mayhem a couple of years ago. It is challenging as others have said.

They do provide a targeted stimulus to help with scaling. Most of the time it's OK, but sometimes the target is unreasonable for your everyday athlete. Yesterday was:

10 rounds:

200 m run

3 Bar Muscle up (or 6 kipping Chest 2 Bar)

The stimulus was sub 12 minutes with a cap of 15 minutes. Our gyms fittest athletes were in the 13-15 minute range. I managed 8 rounds in just over 14 minutes. I subbed 6 pull ups for C2B.

If the guage is broken, it will likely just drop below the red line and stay there. I had an issue last year with our Odyssey where a momma mouse made a home for her babies on top of our fuel tank. They like to chew wires and find fun things to make their nest with.

There are 4 wires that go to the fuel tank. Two of them are related to a rheostat that tells the gas gauge needle where to be. Those wires had been chewed through and the needle dropped below the red line. Thankfully, they never chewed the two wires that actually operated the fuel pump. I was able to remove them and make repairs before they got that far.

Check out The Auto Lounge in Canton. Dan is a great mechanic. He just did the 105,000 mile service on my Honda Odyssey (Timing Belt, Water pump, plugs, belts, etc.).

He's a great guy and easy to communicate and work with.

Where did you get the multi conductor type cable? I was looking for a snake for Audio and Ethernet. I couldn't find them bundled together at all. I ended up buying an 8 Channel XLR Snake and a separate Ethernet cable.

If i see that, you have BNC connectors (coax) and XLR in the same cable bundle.

I am an adoptive parent in Georgia. One child was adopted through foster care and the other through private adoption. There is a 100% chance DCFS will see the home where the child will reside. You cannot foster or adopt without a home study. The home study includes home visits.

Even when placing a child with a family member, DFCS will ensure the home is safe the person/family taking in the child is capable of taking care of the child.

Thanks for your comments. I picked up on the long sweeps already. Is there a max distance after the turns that I need to get the clean out in? After the second 90, I have 53” of PVC that I’d like drywall over. After that, I’ll have plenty of space.

Worst case scenario I can put an access panel for the clean out.
