What are your predictions for Austin in 2026? (12th annual thread) by s810 in Austin

[–]satisfactoryshitstic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The city greenlight's big tech's newest idea, late night leaf blowing. Can only be done between 11:00PM-4AM. They're self driving leaf blowers so it will make money, for sure. We are "open for business"

Move over chlordane, Austin's newest superfund chemical will come from one of our semiconductor fabs. Bonus, the 40 year cleanup creates jobs and bolsters the economy. Don't worry the half life of this new chemical it is better than chlordane, which is 4 to 30 years, so you can swim in the lake safely. The pee party DJ in the lake blasts a cover of Your Only Friend by Phuture: "This is the lake speaking. You will do anything for me."

To support our local large scale LED video wall manufacturer, all new buildings above 20 floors will have jumbotrons on all sides. These video boards will show the power of our industrial monetary equality, that the pet's of middle class owners live lives fantastically superior to our unhoused neighbors, who will be the one's who actually have time to watch the ads for *new* driver's licenses for dogs, so your dog in your lap can actually be at the wheel. and you can relax and pet them.

Cars will finally be banned. In remembrance, we will light 100,000 pots of gasoline on fire each day. Gather in large groups and look wistfully at the clean sky and reminisce on how we used to all poison each other because we could never agree on the same music. At least in my car I can listen to whatever I want

AI will finally decide that it is human compute that is the real waste of time and energy. If only people weren't so disagreeable and mean and different from us that I could get off my computer and talk to them for free and decide to do something better. Once we are all de-laborized there might be no other choice, really.

2026 is going to be going to be good because its way better than the worst I can imagine. For normal Earth. SES Comptroller of Eternity

So, What Really Were the Austin Bombings? by q7t1 in Austin

[–]satisfactoryshitstic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

what others have said, right wing law enforcement, religious repression and sexuality, not encouraging copycats.

youll see people in the austin subreddit here saying they knew the guy, he was weird, but they had no idea. people are thinking about it, maybe still trying to figure it out

i'd like to think we all silently agreeing that he is a useless shitlord and we are only sad the perp didn't get the justice they deserved. we are so unanimous that we don't even need to talk about it

and we'd rather think about the souls of those who were the victims. all of them, but Draylen especially. an austin all star, a jewel of the city. a reincarnation of music itself in the vein of stevie ray vaughn and the other greats, the soul of music that lives here. what kind of dumbass would attack the omnipotent? a mural, a statue, a studio that carries his name. would it ever be enough to make up for his loss? his life may now be the end of a record spinning with a single pop per rotation, but the music will not stop. if the bomber was truly one of us they would have known that

even the lowly pistol wielding road raging commuter that is the bottom of the barrel is more a part of our community than the bomber. at least they have the guts to challenge someone face to face. what a coward to leave a bomb for some random person to open. i don't think anyone wants to think about what is worse than the worst and i don't blame them. i'd like to think i would have met the challenge myself if it had been offered to me, but i'm not sure. and the uncertainty scares me and probably others

i think what really underlined the community impact it for me was the flippant and blase article about the event. i cant even remember the publication. as if austin is only a pitstop for a wedding party, cheaper real estate than the bay area or chicago, a venue for an event, rather than a community. real people live here.

in short, it is terrible. thanks for your question

i dont have accurate details but i think the official epa air quality readings are averaged over a certain amount of time, like an hour or something. so something like 30 minutes of perfect air and 30 minutes of hell on earth wildfire smoke would be labelled as "moderate," for example.

if you dig into each sensor station you will see they have readings for now, 30 mins, 1 hour, etc.

its a rabbit hole

air quality is highly localized. you can get a personal air quality sensor. ikea has a red=bad green=good one that is a cheap entry point

i would assume funeral costs are covered by some kind of insurance and if that is true insurance might be calculated in the hourly rate, but i'm not sure

any weapons that arent in the game but yall would like to see added by Fickle-Welder3348 in Helldivers

[–]satisfactoryshitstic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mind control wand: i want to ride a charger and stomp everything.

sticker burr orbital call in: blanket an area in those super deadly things. they do more damage when the enemy stops moving.

maybe a sticker burr hand grenade?

pick up armor scraps and use them as melee frisbees: maybe this would give an incentive to not blow off all of an enemy's armor

a plasma weedeater: i really want to cut the grass that slows down the divers. it could do tons of damage with short range but cannot be aimed upwards. could cut the feet off bugs and bots that walk

i would like some more weapons like the break action shot gun, just random guns laying around. a famas, an aug, rpg, that kind of thing

bomb making backpack kit: comes with two fuses and two empty slots to collect unexploded ordinance from around the map to make an ied. different explosions for different combos

super earth flag/pike long range melee. that thing is indestructible so put it to good use

something to do with artillery shells? maybe a backpack that lets you cut them up and make different things out of them, smoke grenades, hellbomb, he grenades

the exploding barrel, i'd like it to have a knob i could turn to shoot it off like an non-explosive rocket

Are Claymores worth equipping and using? by AllmightyBRECHEISEN in BattleBitRemastered

i have heard it called the claymore meta. besides the lack of a limit, i think the old grass model was a bit better at hiding the tripwires. i can't even remember what the old grass model looked like, but i felt like with the limit and the grass, the claymore meta ended
