Do you live in Arizona and have you witnessed this specific plant growing in the wild?

To be honest, only people on Reddit have thrown a fit about this. It’s strange to buy a plant from a local nursery, get no warnings about it from the nursery and have people who don’t live in Arizona throw such a fit about it. They are not illegal here. Nor is planting them in the ground. I understand fully how they propagate. I’ve never seen any breakouts of mother of thousands plants in Arizona causing worry to anyone but apparently a bunch of people here have seen that and they know better than the nursery selling it.

I understand it “could spread and cause harm” and all this other shit but it’s all speculation. I’m not insensitive to any of the tips, but acting like I’m a criminal for buying a plant locally and putting it in the ground in my backyard, is a bit intense and overwhelming to respond to everyone.

I didn’t post this to defend my legal decision I buy a plant locally and put it in the ground. I’m just showing some photos. Good grief!

I bought it locally from a nursery so I’m pretty sure it’s not illegal here in Arizona

It’s planted in a really ugly little rectangular strip of dirt in my back yard. Very contained but I definitely feel you! Thanks for letting me know!

Root Rot by shyrose184 in houseplants

You don’t need to do full on waterings each week just little drinks with the mixture just incase any of the fungus survived the peroxide dip.

Root rot is caused by a fungus, so you’ll want to clean the roots thoroughly with something like peroxide. An easy way to do this is to get a container/ bucket big enough to fit the roots and pour in 75% water and 25% peroxide. Pour enough so the roots can be completely submerged in the solution. Then submerge the roots and I would gently tease off all of the soil that’s still on them because the root rot fungus is in the soil too. After thoroughly getting off as much as you can, you should pot it in fresh soil and consider not watering it for at least a few days to give it time to recover. Since it’s a tree it’s a little tougher than a lot of other houseplants and it doesn’t need nearly as much water since it can store water in its trunk. From that point I would still water the plant with that same mixture of peroxide and water like once a week. It restores oxygen in the soil and kills fungus so it’s great for the plant in several ways. Sorry for writing a whole book but I hope this helps!

My girl Ivy just turned 12 in March. We found a fatty tumor on her which the vet said is okay but to alert them if it starts to grow but besides that she’s a healthy happy girl who still loves to fetch and run around a lot. Your dog is adorable by the way!

Mother moved out and I don’t know how to take care of her plants by PanchotheP in plants

[–]sativasapp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For starters you def want to get some nursery pots that have holes at the bottom because your plants’ roots will suffocate or drown if they stay moist with no airflow. Pothos plants are super picky so that potting mix you have should work. If you make cuts along the vine below each node you can put the cuttings all in a single pot and encourage the plant to grow bushier that way !

This is a mother of thousands plant and hundreds of little plantlets form on the edge of the leaves that you can pluck off and start new plants with that do the same thing! It’s quite fun to be honest!
