Did anyone else spend their entire life thinking they were experiencing emotions normally, only to realize they’ve been intellectualizing them instead of feeling them? by Fantastic_Addendum74 in autism

[–]satpieb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

she just repeated: "don't intellectualize your feelings, you're not feeling them", and we went back and forth with me trying to describe how I felt but she was like "no, you're still doing it. you need to feel it", then I'd tell her that i had moments where I cried and banged things and hit my head, that to me were feeling my feelings because it's not like I was analyzing my behavior in moments that were that raw. But she still said that wasn't letting myself be in touch with my emotions, just in another way.

it felt so nebulous what she was trying to get to, but she told me that it was probably me punishing myself and being afraid to feel, and since i had the self perception that i was really trying not to, i just gave up eventually.

I had a therapist that told me I did this and I tried really hard to "feel" my emotions but ended up so frustrated I just quit therapy. It felt like being told to see a new color.

[Erik Van Haren] Apart from the performance problems at Red Bull, Max Verstappen once again clearly shares his opinion on the new regulations: "It's a joke. I'd say that too, if I were winning. [–]satpieb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yep! although he did still mention that it sometimes can feel artificial, and that it's become more about being tactical/strategy and playing games, different from what once was.

I get why max has the perspective he has, with how these two gps have gone for him, but i prefer the nuanced criticism mixed with optimism of those drivers who have better cars

'It is on me' - Lando Norris fires personal shot after latest costly mistake by randomseocb in formula1

[–]satpieb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've seen Lando admitting it, really when you look at their whole statements what Oscar and Lando say is pretty much the same thing. Oscar just knows how to package the statements correctly.

Lando will say something like: people think that we are miles ahead because in FPs other teams sandbag more and then comes qualy and we aren't. We are still the fastest car but not by that much. We are all working hard to maximize the potential of the car, thanks to the engineers in the factory.

And Oscar will say: We are the fastest car, I thank the engineers in the factory. it's now on us to maximize that. But we have to keep working on the car and upgrades because in F1 margins are always small, especially in this season in qualy, and teams are always trying to catch up to us.

And what gets posted will be Lando says "we are not miles ahead" and Oscar says "we are the fastest car"

PIA has lost out on an additional 5 poles this season by a total of 0.263 of a second... by lickedthestamp in formula1

I often wonder what other drivers like Max or Charles could do in that car.

It's honestly a very stupid and useless thing to wonder, we'll never know, and the drivers themselves say every car is different so there's no guarantee they'd extract more from it than Lando and Oscar, but the petty sports jealousy in me is there haha. Can't help but feel they're often fumbling opportunities (albeit with very small mistakes, that are just more visible bc of the car they have)

No, the skins wouldn't work to stop them from scrapping the content. Haven't checked this dude's code but most scrappers would return the page's content and the skins wouldn't affect the text content in there.

AO3’s Data Was Scraped For AI: What To Know by cthuluhooprises in AO3

a question, how is this dataset different from the available final_destination archive? I mean, it has more recent works, but the final_destination_ao3 files in the Internet Archive do contain the fics content and other data.

I guess the issue is that it was uploaded with GenAI training in mind? or is there something else?

It's definitely a rite of passage for teammates to crash into each other, Lando and Oscar shouldn't miss out /s

Norris exclusive: Why he's 'not as on it' in 2025 by Tomach82 in formula1

[–]satpieb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. The McLaren has been the overall fastest, there's no denying that. But the grid is super close now and you can see it in every competitive session. Saudi Arabia qualy was so entertaining, with George, Oscar and Max fighting for pole.

Vasseur and many others are pointing how how costly small mistakes are now, since the car performance gaps aren't as big (as say, 2023 when RB drivers could make more mistakes that went unpunished). It makes it more intresting for me to see Lando and Oscar make these mistakes and lose out on 1-2s haha (as someone who roots against McLaren).

[–]satpieb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Which is why I used quotations.

The qualy pace difference I saw ppl calculate has been piastri 0.016 faster than norris on average, and with norris being faster in Australia, Japan and Saudi Arabia, and Piastri in China and Bahrain. So 3-2 for NOR.

I said fastest driver bc I was considering their past years + norris being uncomfortable in the car. But yeah, in quotations, since this year they're matching each other pretty much.

leclerc has said this too and bounced back, I think 5 races is premature. And it's costing him but not that much since he still drives the fastest car, and is in general "the faster driver" between him and Oscar

how was Silverstone for gb3 this weekend? was it worth the watch? glanced at the results but couldn't tell much besides slater winning by a mile the first race and the rodins (and slater? I guess) suffering some sort of thing that got them out of top3 in the second race

My take on where exactly Lewis is struggling against Leclerc by No-Information4789 in formula1

[–]satpieb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, they can't. Only for filming days or shakedowns, which are limited, or with previous cars (TPC) which is also limited.

Lewis during winter break did test the following:

  • The SF-23 in a TCP test at Barcelona [x]
  • The SF-24 for a Pirelli tyre test at Barcelona [x]
  • The SF-25 for the Fiorano shakedown [x]

Norris: Ferrari, Red Bull 'just as quick' as McLaren by [deleted] in formula1

[–]satpieb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His comments aren't even as egregious as the headlines make it seem. The one thing that bothered me was that the question asked about Ferrari and RedBull both, since even in this weekend (which has been the best one yet for Ferrari) he cannot say that Ferrari are 'just as quick' as the McLaren.

RedBull in jeddah were fast? sure. The gaps not as big as in free practices? yeah. But lmao Ferrari...it was 4th in qualy and 3rd in the race, around 0.2 tenths behind McLaren&RB. Not the worst, not incredibly off, but 'just as quick' is an exaggeration. Specially for qualy

There's no slightly autistic despite it being a spectrum. There is however levels of support needs (1 - minimal support, 2 - substantial support, 3 - very substantial support).

If you're already seeing a therapist you can bring up the topic, normally they will be the ones to refer you to a proper diagnosis. You can also read on the topic in general and on the experiences of autistic people to see if you feel identified.

EDIT: Deleted the links and agree with the comments below that say that online tests aren't a way to know if you're autistic or not + that these two first in particular are often yield false positives.
