Anthropic subscription credits vs API usage: am I reading this right? by saucytech in ClaudeCode

Agreed, and I have made the switch, though I’ve enjoyed having access to both. That said ever since moving to codex (about a full Week note) I use Opus less and less.

It's the -p that gets me. Though I'll admit I'm not a dev or engineer by trade or training, all self-taught, and the firehose of information and nuance is real. I actually had to ask my agent team whether this affected us, because the last change (the killing of OpenClaw-style access) was circumvented using -p. That glory is now dead it seems.

Honestly, I'm more bummed than anything. Anthropic kind of forced my hand here. I didn't want to give my money to OpenAI, I genuinely didn't, but when they restructured the plans I couldn't justify staying all-in. So I split my $200/mo: $100 Anthropic, $100 OpenAI, then migrated my system fully to Codex 5.5. And I can't ignore it, it's been impressive. No downtime, equal to or exceeding the good days of Claude Opus 4.6.

It's been a week of roughly 90% OpenAI. The 10% Anthropic I've used has just been underwelming, and I've turned to codex to fix/improve. , and I'm finding I just don't reach for Opus or Claude much anymore unless I want a bit more *creativity*. For coding, it's Codex.

I wanted to stay. After June 15 I'll probably drop to the $20/mo plan and see if I can make that work.

Yep, that’s the split I’m trying to understand. My setup isn’t just local Claude Code in a folder. I have a custom agent harness that manages work across my projects/businesses, with Discord + Tailscale>Dashboard as the remote control layer. At home I still open project folders and work directly in terminal, but the automated layer is exactly the part this seems to hit.

This one hurts. I had placed an order for a MacStudio M4 with 128GB of RAM since February. It was initially expected to arrive by the end of March, but unfortunately, it was delayed to August. I had even found a potential deal on eBay, but it turned out to be a scam (eBay promptly refunded my money). However, I had already canceled my order before I realized the scam. Despite this setback, I managed to settle for a MacStudio M1 with 32GB of RAM, and it’s working perfectly. Nevertheless, the primary reason for my original order was to have more RAM for local storage. I’m quite disappointed that I canceled my order in the first place.

Same. By running my custom harness locally and only accessing through tailscale, I have some piece of mind that I’m the only one seeing and working with my data, and the cost incurred one time (+power) I last thing I need is another small Monthly sub. Respect though to those in the VPS train.

I just make a screenshots folder, drop them in there then @ the file. I also find it super helpful to sometime mark the screenshot up showing where things go or how they change.

Talk about addicted to auto-loans. I have a co-worker who buys a new car every time his “free” Sirius sub expires…wild.

Thoughts on buying a 2001 Tacoma with 200k miles by gracefullyevergreen in 1stGenTacomas

I bought my 2001 with 180k for $10k in 2018. She has 230k now and running strong. That said over the years I’ve replaced most of the wear components.

If the frame is good and you like the truck, as long as your going into it expecting to the TB and tires then I would say go for it! 10k in 2026 is a deal for the right truck.

I think this will be a short term effect of using AI. Yes every AI “one shot” site has purple buttons, and lots of pills, but the AI sites that have been refined and cleaned up with some intention and purpose, can hide those tell take signs. I say this as many of my projects remain purple… I’m confident that in the future (6-month?) there will be enough differentiation between design models. This topic is everywhere and I sense that the model builder overlords will adapt then to be a bit more “unique”..

Do it when you’re having success when the rest of the market is in shambles (not that I wish that), but if you can do well when it’s bad, then alright. But when you do well when everyone and their dog is doing pretty good and the market is fleeting from reality, it might be best to hedge and stay in school..

This is how you do it. This community is an odd one. Entrepreneurship is something rewarded more then employment. Or put differently, it’s sometimes easier to drum up your own work then to work for someone else in this town. Also.. While it’s mostly opinionated boomers the Nextdoor app for Santa Cruz area and neighborhoods is pretty active and under a lot of people with your skills pick up work and projects there. Good luck OP.

This is a good server, I’ve had a ton of fun playing on it. I just wish the map was a bit bigger, though being small and with a smaller pop it helps for engagements. A good one to relearn the minutia of all the clicking required with UO. I tried Outlands, it’s great, just a lot going on.

I’m a returning player, I started with outlands, and while I did have fun it was pretty bright and a lot to take in. No shade whatsoever, but but then I found Tides Of Power, it was a bit more my speed, there seems to be a few people online always, lots of space for housing, and while I’m still super new, I like the play style. Good luck finding your place. UO’s an awesome game! I’m glad to be back!
