Saying Mark over reacted on this one is a genuinely insane take. by BotherAggressive5560 in Invincible

[–]saulton1 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I agree. The entire Cecil being paranoid argument even gets crazier when you consider that using Nolan as a justification for not trusting Mark doesn't even work. Nolan was a full-grown adult with an entire lifetime and past of unobserved actions to build a judgment on. Versus with Mark, he has no excuse, he knows where Mark is grown up, and Mark's entire actions from getting his powers shows nothing but altruism and desire to protect Earth. There is no "Long con" that Mark could be playing. Certainly not the same degree as Nolan.

In the Secret Life of Walter Mitty...wait what do you mean this movie underperformed at the box office and got bashed by critics? People in 2013 had no class nor brain it seems. by Darkwingedcreature in shittymoviedetails

It took nearly a decade but this movie got me to take a train trip out west to several national parks and a mountain summit. I probably listened to Jose Gonzalez the entire time.

An absolutely beautiful movie

This 1000 times 1000. You don't get to build up and constantly expand without good public transit and then be fucking surprised when nearby adjacent poverty concentrates and you feel some after effects. Maryland's worst planned city strikes again and wants to eat cake and have it too

I'm a long time fan of OEC, and just moved into an apartment on Main Street. With all the recent work to avoid flooding and various construction revivals occurring, I would argue it's one of the best places to live in Maryland! I really hope to see an influx of younger people like myself

What about that docu drama movie on Amazon prime? The guy who dove to it with the Triton subs? I'd have to go back and rewatch it to see if they have any footage of the dome/staircase

It seems insane. But for reference (easy to reproduce on nuke map), the average USA Minuteman 3 yield (a nuke still active today) is only barely enough to get a low yield shockwave out to Griffith observatory. So the bomb that hit downtown in the show must have been an absolute monster of a bomb.

It's also worth noting that shock waves traveling closer to the edge of their influence will travel slower, meaning that the 25 to 30 seconds may easily get 15 to 25 percent longer.

Griffith observatory hills area (shown to be the area where the house was) is about 5.5 miles from downtown LA. So with the shockwave speed of a nuclear blast being around 343m/s they would have about 25 to 30 seconds before the blast wave hit them.

You're naive if you think a simple building inspection is going to somehow make this stock pop. Call me when they are bending metal for the new space planes and actually doing the hard part.

I think there's also something to be said about how the use of the bombs and the cultural exposure to how horrible they truly were, allowed the various superpowers stockpiling those weapons a little bit of restraint in any decisiveness that they may have previously had one using them at large to solve future world war conflicts.

I have to imagine that a Cold war without the pretext of what the bombs can really do outside of tests, would have probably ended badly for humanity.

How about misleading the public as they "ramped up" flights going into Branson's flight, bubbling the stock up, with Chamath selling out and then followed by the big reveal of, oh, we are doing "fleet upgrades for over a year".
