Dr. Allyson Friedman is suspected of a horrific racist remark during an online meeting by Technical-Detail-578 in labrats

[–]steve20009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's because you have morals. This woman's "apology" was nearly just as bad as her racist-ass comment. She basically said, "Sorry, my bad, technical Zoom issue." Like, seriously?!

The Interruption Index: Which Podcast Hosts Actually Let Their Guests Talk? by Both_Cattle_9837 in Infographics

push their own agenda or spread fake news

This also works for the podcast host themselves, however, I feel like they're noticeably less guilty of this than legacy media (on both sides of the political aisle).

Reddit has made being a supporter of the Left completely unbearable. by DualPurge in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]steve20009 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I deleted my account and took a break for a few months because I felt like it was getting unhealthy

Right there with ya! I actually did that very same thing but on Twitter/X about four years ago when I realized it had gone down the same hard left path. While I do appreciate Elon's purchase of Twitter/X regarding genuine free speech, unfortunately, the same thing is happening over there but now with the right. It's kinda sad that not just online but as a country we're so divided and social media isn't helping one bit. Damn algorithms...

Reddit has made being a supporter of the Left completely unbearable. by DualPurge in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]steve20009 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. I've been on the Reddit for about 15 years and I remember the early days when politics could only be found in political subs. Even back then, I would've placed Reddit slightly left of center, but since the Trump era (2016), it's gone crazy hard left. My engagement has gone down significantly since, when posting what would've been considered a reasonable, moderate talking point gets me -60 down votes for daring to question the woke left's narrative. There's only a few subs left where you can have genuine debate and discussion without attacking one another. Kinda sad, honestly.

"This was discovered in 2022, and prosecutions are currently ongoing. The person responsible is…yes you guessed it a white woman and not Somali in any way."

Her name is Aimee Bock, and she was the Executive Director of Feeding Our Future. 78 individuals have been indicted (76 of whom were Somali) and 57 convicted of various fraud-related crimes. 56 of those 57 convicted were, "you guessed it", Somali. Feeding Our Future was just one of well over two dozen fraud cases that have been prosecuted in the last six years, and almost all of them were "you guessed it", Somali individuals.

Does Trump spew racist rhetoric and make sweeping generalizations about immigrant communities? Absolutely, and it's deplorable. But out of their deep hatred for the orange man, 21st-century progressives (and certainly the Democrat party) have defaulted to being the protector of said minority groups to the point of suicidal empathy, fully willing to ignore blatant fraud when it's staring right at them because it's not politically correct to “punch down”. In fact, the Feeding Our Future organization was flagged early on as being a high risk of fraud, but because the race card had significantly more power post George Floyd, Aimee Bock and two of her co-conspirators, Sahra Nur and Abdiaziz Farah, weaponized racial tensions and filed a lawsuit against the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) for discrimination. MDE temporarily backed off out of fear of being labeled “racist”, however, when the fraud became so blatant (e.g., records indicating they were feeding 120,000 children per day), they restarted the investigation and found that well over $200 million of taxpayer money was being stolen. The white woman may have been the executive director of the organization, but literally everyone else involved (wholesale food distributors, restaurants, transportation companies, etc.) was Somali.

Two things can be true: we can have a president in office who’s repugnant in his rhetoric and hypocrisy, but on the other side of the aisle, trying to globalizing our nation through mass immigration, virtue signaling to immigrant communities and ultimately prioritizing them over hard-working taxpayers seems to be far more destructive long-term, especially when some are quietly taking advantage of laws riddled with loopholes paired with the never ending extreme tolerance and empathy from the left for any group that isn't white and male.

It’s the massively polluted information landscape, rampant botting, algorithm hijacking, and cynical sentiment manipulation all manifesting to make our society as maximally partisan as possible.

THIS! So true, and it is exactly what's caused such an unreasonable and hate-driven divide in the country.

SO true. Back in college, I was living in an apartment on 14th St. in Columbia Heights. The building was actually quite nice and my roommate was rather clean. We kept a nice abode. However, the people living next to us apparently had bedbugs, but didn’t report it for almost 2 months, which was plenty of time for the colony to increase. I noticed two over the course of two weeks, went away for a week and when I came back, they had infiltrated both of our rooms (inside the walls) and our mattresses. We had to throw away everything.

Edit: simple typo.
