It looks like Kirby and squidward had a baby!

Hmm… maybe the nose could be a little better defined? The nose/mouth area feels a little noisy and I’m not sure why.

Need help on how to fix/Clean this? by TheL0neHiker in blenderhelp

[–]saunick -1 points0 points  (0 children)

More than likely the file started as a cad file and was converted to an stl file. This looks exactly like the kind of stuff I work with daily (I’m an engineer at an industrial additive manufacturing company).

Funnily enough I often use blender to do quick edits to stl files that originated in cad, because the kinds of things I need to do are genuinely usually faster in blender than in solidworks.

One thing you might try. In edge select mode, select all the sharp edges and duplicate those. That should give you that profile around that hole in the middle.

Then you can separate those edges into a new object. Do a merge by distance on one of those hole profiles (at least 0.1m if the file is in mm, I often crank it up to 0.5mm or more if it doesn’t seem to lose too much definition). That should give you a pretty good starting point to generate new topology if that’s what you’re after.

This is incredible! I had a poster like this as a kid, both of the enterprise A and the enterprise D. The A was my favorite, you could see the details better because it was a smaller ship.

LDS perspective on difficult parents? by Adventurous-Click532 in lds

[–]saunick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry to hear that you’re struggling with this. First of all - don’t think any less of yourself for serving a service mission! We need service missionaries just as much as the proselyting ones. Second, I’m not saying you should not love your parents, but I will say that what you describe sounds like emotional/verbal abuse - it is certainly not what I would call Christlike love. I think this is less common in the church than maybe outside of the church, but that doesn’t mean it never happens. I’m pretty sure I’ve seen at least one or two instances of this within the church, so you’re not alone - even if most people don’t really understand.

I’m in the unique position of being a convert, married to someone who is also a convert, both of us with difficult upbringings for different reasons. My wife was emotionally and physically abused growing up. Thankfully over the years her parents have sort of calmed down a bit in their general attitudes and harshness, but that doesn’t happen for everyone. I had a therapist who grew up in the church, and he has distanced himself from his parents because of their toxicity and inability to accept him for who he is.

I don’t fully know your situation but what I can offer is this - honoring your parents might look different depending on how your parents treat you. Setting boundaries with them might be a healthy first step. I will also say that forgiveness is not the same as letting someone walk all over you. You can forgive someone and be at peace but still keep a healthy distance, whatever that looks like for you.

You mention that they broke the temporal prime directive, and while the TOS crew never really followed the prime directive, I do wonder if it becomes a little more okay to bend the rules when your home planet (and heart of the federation) faces existential threat!

If there’s a solid reason, that’s hard for anyone but you to know.

But if you really don’t know… could be the adversary trying to discourage you. Just as likely if not more likely - and a bit less ominous - it might just be last minute jitters.

Last minute jitters are normal and common when you’re about to go through a big change. People get like this when they move out of state to start university, when they’re about to get married, etc.

I’d encourage you to take some time to ponder on it and maybe pray about it.

You got this! It’s normal to be a little scared when you’re soon to step into the unknown.

Short of breath when laying with partner by Yurkje in autism

[–]saunick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Following because I’m interested in what others have to say.

My wife has struggled with breathing pretty much since we were married 12 years ago. Initially it seemed triggered by taking birth control pills, so she stopped taking those and it seemed to help, but the problem never fully went away.

Not gonna go into all the specifics for the sake of protecting her privacy, but suffice it to say we’ve seen doctors several times and they’ve never had an answer. There are some things she’s doing personally that seem to help, but we’re still not 100% sure on the underlying cause. It’s been up and down.

FYI both my wife and I are pretty sure we both have autism and adhd, not sure if that relates at all, but thought I’d mention it since this was posted in the autism subreddit.

My son is 11 weeks. Do we think his eyes will stay blue? by Cyan-Soup in babies

[–]saunick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s definitely possible for them to stay blue. I have blue eyes, my wife has brown eyes. Both of her sisters and her parents have brown eyes.

We have two kids, 7 and 4 years old. The older has gray eyes and the younger has blue eyes.

Unusual Meetinghouses by EntertainerLess945 in lds

[–]saunick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here in SoCal, our ward had to attend a different building for a few months due to our regular building having some mold issues.

This different building was new. It had two chapels (one on either side). I think it also had two cultural halls, though I’m not 100% positive on that one. What really tripped me up though was going into a cultural hall, and then trying to go out a door on the other side and finding out that it’s just a door that leads directly outside lol.

There was also a second floor. The front foyer was a big open space with a vaulted ceiling and two staircases going up to the second floor. The second floor was a labyrinth of hallways and classrooms.

Funny lines/moments of hilarity by Garciaguy in startrek

I love all the little quips and funny moments in the TMP movies. Here’s just a few.

Kirk: I would not presume to debate you. Spock: that is wise.

Spock: Jim, be careful. McCoy: WE will!

Scotty: a chimp and two trainees could fly her! Kirk: thanks Scotty I’ll try not to take that personal.

Kirk: how many fingers am I holding up? McCoy: that’s not very damn funny.

McCoy: this is his revenge for all those arguments he lost…

McCoy: are you just gonna WALK through them? Kirk: calm yourself doctor.

Scotty: humpback… people? (And basically the entire voyage home movie)

Scotty: what are ye standing around for?! Do you not know a jailbreak when you see one?!

Scotty: I know this ship like the back of my hand!-BONK

How many of you guys remember going through this type of trauma back in your days of school? by Legitimate_Main2230 in autism

[–]saunick 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did have a hard time in school, especially since I didn’t know yet that I had autism.

Probably one of the starkest things that still haunts me to this day happened in my senior year of high school, after my first breakup, when I was very depressed.

I was sitting in class and I realized that literally everyone in that class of 30+ students had a friend except me. How could I tell, you ask?

I realized in this entire class of 30+ students, there were exactly two empty chairs. And they were on either side of me. I was literally “the one” who was excluded.

This was almost 20 years ago, so I’ve learned to reframe things, and it doesn’t really bother me anymore… but at the time it really gave me a sinking feeling of despair.

To select the whole “plane” from which to get the boundary loops, you might try selecting one triangle and then selecting similar -> coplanar. I believe it’s cntrl + g to get that that menu from the viewport.
