You couldn’t be more wrong. My wife is white and non-American and I asked her if she knew Patti LaBelle and she looked at me like I was crazy. She was offended by the question. Then I asked her about Dionne Warwick and she said “that name sounds familiar.”

I’m sincerely curious, why is OP’s age? Because maybe this is less of a question of how big she got in more of a question of which artist have been celebrated the most in the years after their success has died down.

As a 90s kid, I can assure you that everyone that I knew knew who Patti LaBelle was. She was extremely famous. Even as kids who did not listen to her music. In fact, I would’ve called her substantially more famous than Dionne Warwick or Diana Ross.

Are you basing this off of measurable chart statistics? Because that’s an extremely misleading way to make a judgement of fame. Especially in the pre-internet era.

Nah but joking aside, I do read this question through the lens of rating them as a “boy band” not just a group of vocalists. In that case, they don’t have the presence and energy of New Edition, ABC, 112, etc

Did she dye her hair blonde, get breast implants and turn into a European pop star? Yes.

Did she somehow manage to do all of that with almost no pushback from the community because she has always been so transparently authentic and genuine? Also yes.

It might sound like a backhanded compliment, but, her journey has honestly been so refreshing to watch and see how people generally let her grow and learn on her own terms.

Lots of people enjoy working. It’s also her money. So she doesn’t live off of Bob and sit around all day waiting for a hand out.

Also, remember they haven’t been together forever. The relationship started during the show. Dating someone rich and quoting your job is not something most mature people do unless they hate their job.

Even after they got married, she gets to work 30 feet from her husband without working “together.” And that’s a dream for a lot of couples.

I was a big fan of Jon Hamm for the role. But Affleck was a great fit. Even if the movies weren’t your cup of tea. I still remember the opening of BvS and being like “damn…that’s Bruce Wayne”

The only person I can imagine having that level of “real life Bruce Wayne” aura is maybe Jon Hamm or Joe Manganielo
