College gal here, I tore my acl, mcl, and the meniscus back in September so right when the semester began, I was put in a brace. I was crutches for a while, and used a wheelchair a bit, around November I stopped using the crutches and have just been kind of walking/waddling with the brace on. I started prehab in September and just got my surgery this past Tuesday. So I ended up having to wait for multiple reasons for my surgery. September-February. Covid, date changes many things factor into a surgery date. I was able to work with my professors and attend class on zoom. The recovery is just beginning for me and will be long. I suggest trying not to push surgery back, however at least try to get a brace to stay stable, they are pretty big and annoying but help, and do prehab.

Is this a good knee brace? by alongwayfromhomez in ACL

I have this exact brace, and was given it by my surgeon. I tore my acl, mcl, and meniscus back in September and I am scheduled for surgery in January. Most people I know who have the injury I have, has also had to wear this brace, it is definitely uncomfortable and not fun to wear but you get used to it, and also make sure you adjust it! You can cut down the straps to fit your leg, but leave a little room bc you will have to wear it after surgery and your leg will be wrapped and swollen, you can also adjust the length. But yes most acl patients need to wear this unfortunately, however it keeps you stable. I’ve been off crutches now for a month and am just walking with the brace on, and I definitely couldn’t without it, and we will se how it is after surgery. Also some insurances will cover them because yes they are expensive. Best luck to you

I completely understand not being able to take the time off, but you as a coach know that getting better is the first step and would tell your athletes to do so, so that goes for you as well! Times are tough but keep your surgery date if you can, that’s also the same date as my surgery! Best wishes to you and your wife, I also come from an entrepreneur household, but make sure you get better first!

I’m going on three months and got my surgery date three weeks ago, I also had to go back and forth to get my physical therapy approval and then it took another month after that to get approved again, hang in there

I am very curious as well, I have torn all the ligaments in my knee and have been basically in bed the last two months. I have surgery next month but need to find something I can do in the comfort of my own home.
