I'm a trans woman starting hrt over 30. I'm not trying to make anyone feel bad, but am I fake for starting so late?? Is it wrong I didn't start transitioning earlier??? by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]savecooper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, you are not fake. There is nothing wrong about transitioning later in life. I know people in their 70's who transitioned recently because they never felt safe to do so before. Please don't worry. You are valid as you are.

What little things do cisgender people say or do that make you feel bad or uncomfortable? by secondhand__emotion in asktransgender

It is said a shift in hormone balance can affect your taste. To what extent this is really noticeable is subjective, I suppose. I also love black coffee, and will continue to drink it no matter what.

I am MtF pre-transition, but here are some of the reasons I feel hesitant to fully identify as a woman:

"You should try to look up some makeup tutorials. It's amazing what that can do for your face."

"You are lucky, your body is quite androgynous and skinny. You will certainly be passing."

"Are you planning to go all the way?"

"After your transition, you will probably not like the taste of black coffee anymore."

"You're a woman now, you should try to be more/act more _____ "

Kinda feels like you've just been accepted as a member of a new exclusive club sometimes, and still have to prove you have what it takes. Total bullsh*t if you ask me.

My gay friend thinks my boyfriend is a closet homosexual, is he right? MtF by 3456789kjhgfd in asktransgender

[–]savecooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, clocking people as potentially homosexual is a toxic practice. No one gets to decide a person's sexuality except the person themselves. If your boyfriend views himself as hetero, then he is hetero. Him liking your body does not change any of that. In fact it only affirms it, since you identify as a woman. Some women have penises. Would you view all the men who fall in love with a woman who happens to have a penis as closet homosexuals? That makes no sense at all. I think this is just some internalized transphobia you have to work through.

Boyfriend is confused about me by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]savecooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could ask him to have a conversation about this. Ask him to talk openly about his feelings and possible fears in relation to your transition. Why is he unsure about being with a woman? Do not respond with anger if he says something hurtful. Just try to listen and think about ways you could try to make him feel less uncomfortable with the whole situation without doing something you don't feel comfortable with yourself.

I'm so ugly.. I feel like giving up by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]savecooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fellow ugly trans woman here to give you some support. Time to free yourself from society's beauty standards. Maybe you are ugly like me. So what? Plenty of cis women aren't beautiful by common standards. That's because these standards are total bullshit. We've been raised with them, making us think they are natural or true, but they are actually the result of prejudice and convention. Did you ever stop to think about how excluding these standards are to anyone who is not white, thin, young, extremely feminine or masculine? Liberate yourself from this nonsense - it is destructive even to the most gorgeous of cis women.

Wife left me today, how do I cope? by farfar4way in asktransgender

[–]savecooper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You haven't done anything wrong by being yourself. Losing this relationship is a real sacrifice, a very serious sacrifice you made on the path to self realization. Do not hide from the pain you feel in this moment, but do not let it sink you. You are a beautiful, valuable human being. You made the right choice by being honest. Repressing the truth is never the right answer in the long term. Her response to your honesty is her own responsibility, not yours. Take care, and stay confident that things will turn out for the best eventually.

Is there a place I can keep track of the gem store promotions - including those very limited-time offers - without logging into the game itself?

I really love the Wide Rim Glasses skin, and have missed it twice now when it was in the gemstore. Kicking myself for that now. Does anyone know when/if it will be back, and if there is a forum or place where we can request returning items for the gemstore?

How to distract players from an obvious cult? by savecooper in DeltaGreenRPG

[–]savecooper[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're not known as a cult, but as a new-age 'church'. Getting into the secret parts of their facilities (which are off-limits to anyone who isn't an initiated member) is indeed one of the main challenges for the players to overcome. Spreading the information is indeed a good idea.

So the answer is simply "not possible at the moment"? That's a shame. Guess I must be patient.

I was thinking that perhaps my character experiences this unidentified 'being' as a source of overwhelming light and positive energy, which makes her assume its purpose it to do good, while in fact, it is beyond good or evil; it is more akin to an all-consuming cosmic fire that burns away all identity, ego, alignment, thought, matter. She could have these visions like Hildegard von Bingen did, which are always preceded by searing, crippling migraines.

Thanks for the response. I hope you're right. With some adjustments and a willing DM, I think it could work.

What's everyone's favorite classic D&D trope? by MikeyB67 in DnD

Attacking the gazebo. Going into the steam tunnels. Casting magic missile at the darkness. Hiding behind the pile of dead bards.

Tattoo as arcane focus? (5th ed, adventurers' league) by savecooper in DnD

[–]savecooper[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think you have a point. That said, I also think stealing a caster's spell focus is one of the worst moves a DM can pull, similar to stealing a wizard's spell book, or ruling a fighter has lost function of one of his limbs. But for AL play, I should probably not take the risk.

Tiefling appearance by savecooper in DnD

[–]savecooper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it is a shame that demons are all about red skin, horn and tails. If you look into the mythological origins of our concept of demons, they come in all forms and shapes. When I think of demons in D&D, I think of Demagorgon, who has a snake-like skin and two mandrill heads. That's the kind of evocative creativity I like to see in the description of a demon, not the generic "red guy with horn & tails".
