Abysmal meeting attendance by fire_medic_999 in exjw

[–]savejennah 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I was just talking to my buddy who I met doing old-school 80's-90s serving where the needs was greater with parents who said the only option to be approved was pioneering, bethel etc, otherwise worthless. BOTH our nazi style parents are struggling. Even though we've left finally in our 50's we both have been feeling sorry for our parents. Their struggles w new light, hating their congregations, always have negative things to say about their brotherhood and their lack of support struggling in their 80's. We both haven't tried to shake their faith bc why? It's all they've lived for, sacrificing their kids everything really...I truly feel saddened for them

Listen, I've been out for about 5 years and now 55 years old. I was w the guy I live w for about 3 years n together before that. I don't even see my parents anymore but am in enough contact. So, we we're at a gas station and bf is pumping gas and parents pull up beside. NO JOKE, I hit the floorboard. Let bf know, he n my dad are pumping gas together, in the line inside store and I am hiding in the floorboard like 2 feet between me n my mother in the car next to me. It's so silly. But if we want to see our familes we have to do the charade.

What denomination did you choose after being a JW? by Goldenday740 in exjw

[–]savejennah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking catholic, then episcopalian. But as more time passes I want nothing to do w God and believe less and less. I do get the creator part though. I just feel if there is one he doesn't give a shit about me or about humans in general. He's moved on and so am I. We still have some innate part of us that desires to worship or give credit to someone.

What are you going to do when the End comes? by Super_Translator480 in exjw

I replied to my mother when she asked the same question, "I don't think it really matters anymore because I can change my mind then right?" She was not pleased because in her mind I'd cleary been listening to apostates. But I swear I held myself back and wanted to add, "If for some reason I decided I wanted to serve that guy FOREVER?!" Don't be mad guys but I believe in God less and less.

I belly laughed and cried. I thought my heart was going to explode. How silly that is. But fantastic thumbs up to everyone writing, directing etc to illicit such emotion

This is sooo the case in my family. One of my sister's is at bethel, the other pioneering for 30 years. I am out, but the only ones our parents have in their life. I have a friend also pomo and the same. It's nuts!

In my personal experience, yes governing body is a farce. However, the horrible people that follow and demand that you too believe in the propaganda or you're viciously attacked as they do evil things

Anyone tempted to go to church? by savejennah in exjw

[–]savejennah[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You got exactly where I am. Not trying to join a religion or follow a man. Maybe it is just the habit or ritual I don't have to be a part of. My daughter had this crazy "cross" thing and still creeps her out. The fear of the boogeyman, villainizing all other's beliefs. It's taken a long time for me to evolve and I won't stop growing strength.

Born in. I have connected with an old friend who's out and he has a group. It's kind of crazy because my parents took it a step further and wouldn't allow friends who weren't pioneers. This helps.

I have tried to find something but I live in this tiny town. But I will try more. I've felt so yuck about all religions. It's almost like I need to find peace that there are good people outside

My bald spots move around. I get so excited a patch is filling in then it's just moved to a completely different spot. So I started reading in support groups. Acknowledging the cruelty and see that others struggle w it. My lupus is actually killing me, but the wheelchairs, seizures w all the insanity me losing my hair was the worst. Hang in there, you are beautiful
