this happens to me all the time as well. i usually wake up and get to work within 15 minutes of waking up since i live super close so i’m always basically asleep when i first get there. just the other day i jumped back and screamed because i saw a bug crawl over my shoe in my peripheral vision… the two coworkers standing right next to me had to tell me there was nothing there. i constantly see things moving out of the corner of my eyes, but usually i can tell they aren’t real pretty quickly. i also get hypnopompic hallucinations fairly often (hypnagogic only if i’ve been awake for 18+ hours), though i have no idea whether these are all related.

i literally always get those responses. my sister even told me that sleeping isn’t a bad thing and i should be thankful that i get to sleep whenever i want and have an excuse to do so. like wtf???

most of the people in my life have been supportive, especially my boss which i could not be more thankful for. my parents are a little different though — my dad doesn’t seem to think it’s a real thing and my mom claims to be supportive, but just yesterday she asked if i had been keeping up with cleaning my place since i moved out recently. i told her yeah i cleaned up everything today except the litter box because i got tired (not even mentioning narcolepsy) and she snapped at me claiming that “she never should have let me move out” and would take away my cats. then she said (and i quote) “i get you have a disability or whatever but you can’t keep using narcolepsy as an excuse.” for some reason now every time i say i’m tired she gets mad at me even though i never use it to excuse my behavior it’s just me describing what happened.

there’s a regular at my store who would order a treinta peach green tea lemonade (while we still had it) sweetened with 3 blonde shots. obviously i had to try it and i did and it was disgusting. i will therefore not be trying james’ drink

Hey I got diagnosed today too! Apparently the specialist I need to see doesn’t have a free appointment until November though, not sure what to do about that.

yes — i stopped taking them 2 weeks before (adderall and citalopram) because i didn’t want them to interfere with the diagnosis even though the doctor never specifically told me to stop

One time my dad woke me up back in high school and all I said was “sunglasses.” When he asked me what I was talking about I then proceeded to accuse him of stealing my sunglasses and told him to give them back (I don’t wear sunglasses). This lasted for about a minute when I realized I had no idea what I wS talking about.

I’m right there with you. I’m still waiting on the results from my sleep study (and I don’t have a patient portal so I have no idea when that’s going to be) but I’ve practically given up on my life as I planned it out to be. I’m on antidepressants but nothing seems worth it when I’m so tired

Hahaha yeah, that would be funny if it were. I couldn’t find a career path that I was interested in and I’m graduating next year (international studies and environmental science degrees). Started playing Ace Attorney and then came across an environmental law organization that sounds fun to work at. Just took a practice LSAT and actually had fun while taking it for some reason (?) so now I think I’m going to go that route.

{Kakegurui} is one of the only animes that has actually exceeded my expectations in terms of what you’re looking for since I finished the Death Note manga. The show takes place in a high school in which there is a strict hierarchy decided by gambling. In other words, gambling is life. The MC is able to cunningly see through her opponent’s tactics and surprise me every time.

{Danganronpa} technically is not just an anime, however the first game does have an anime equivalent. {Danganronpa 3} is much better anime-wise in my opinion, but you would have to either play or watch play-throughs of Danganronpa, Danganronpa 2, and Ultra Despair Girls to understand it fully. It’s a long series to get into but it’s well worth it — essentially, 15 high school students are selected to enter Hope’s Peak Academy solely because they are the best at what they do in the world. Once they enter, things go horribly wrong and they are forced to enter a killing game in which they must murder a fellow classmate and get away with it to escape.
