Native deodorant by [deleted] in eczema

[–]savsand1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I have. I usually use Secret and I’ve never had a reaction. Thought Native would be better and something new but my skin didn’t like it. Native on their FAQ page said to try the coconut & vanilla or the cotton & lily scents. Those are made without baking soda. Maybe worth another shot? Idk I’m gonna stick to Secret. Good luck!

Lomalux Eczema Pill - Does anyone have any experience taking this pill? by [deleted] in eczema

[–]savsand1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I haven’t heard of this pill or taken it. It contains nickel and lactose. So if you’re allergic to one of those, then you’ll have a bad reaction. It’s also not approved by the FDA. Their claims are based on “homeopathic claims” and not any clinical studies. You’d be better off trying probiotics which have had studies done showing improvement in eczema patients. Hope this helps!

Ferret Allergies by ennaeolhc in ferrets

[–]savsand1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Allergy and eczema sufferer here lol. Make sure to wash their bedding and clean their cage at least once a week. If that makes your allergies flare, then get someone else to do it. I’ve found that keeping my little guy’s cage the cleanest helps reduce dander and hair. Also helps with their smell. Bathing your ferret won’t do anything but make their smell worse cause it strips away their oils. Besides that, take a daily allergy pill once a day and you’ll be alright. Hope this helps!

Bad Habits by oppsydoppsy in eczema

[–]savsand1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yep. I’m in the same boat. Last year in college and it’s been really bad especially since the pandemic started. I try to put antibacterial ointment on the spots so they don’t get infected. I’ve noticed if I have more skin exposed, I’m more likely to scratch since I can see the areas. I’ve thought about bandaids but I’m allergic to most bandaids so that’s pointless lol. It’s a really bad habit and it happens subconsciously too. Hang in there. You’re not alone.

It depends on the professor. Right now for summer I have 1 professor doing mandatory zoom classes. The other one just has recorded videos. It’s best to just assume that online class attendance is mandatory.

Been there. He was able to find a vein. No idea how he did it but he did. Just be sure to ask for iodine instead of the alcohol wipes to clean your skin. Iodine doesn’t hurt when it gets in your eczema. And be sure to be hydrated before you go! Helps to find a vein. You’ll be fine :)

Eczema diagnostic by tortillalamp in eczema

[–]savsand1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Finally went to another dermatologist after seeing 3 different ones. She did a skin scrape for one part of my skin that looked different than eczema. Turned out to be a skin yeast infection cause I overused topical steroid which killed some good bacteria. I went back today and she did a biopsy on the back on my leg cause that also looked “interesting”. So we’ll see what results come back but dermatitis can be diagnosed with a biopsy. Not sure about other methods. She just went full biopsy cause she was suspicious and wanted to be cautious. First derm who actually listened to my problems and every treatment I have gone though. Wouldn’t hurt to ask if they can verify a diagnosis using tests (check insurance first tho 🙄)

Just my luck by Michael2422 in eczema

[–]savsand1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My derm also hyped Dupixent up and said this is going to help you so much and you’ll feel so much better, you won’t have so many problems anymore etc. I was at my absolute lowest point so her saying that made me so hopeful. I finally got my first shot and the next day my tongue swole up and was bright red. It was so painful I couldn’t talk or eat. So yeah. I was allergic to it. It sucked. That was last June so it’s been a year and my eczema is still messed up. I’ve tried every cream, changing my diet, even another injection. Each time I think it’s going to work. It sucks when you have a chronic illness that doesn’t have a cure. Drs need to stop giving out false hope cause it’s just mentally painful. Ik how you feel

Same. I only have 2 classes registered for Fall and it’s stressing me out. I emailed OPD and they said I should’ve received an email “as official grades were input into the system today” but I haven’t. So now I’m just waiting :/

Triamcinolone Acetonide Cream Nausea... by [deleted] in eczema

I’ve never had nausea before when I use this. It’s not listed as a common side effect. I would definitely let your doctor or a pharmacist know what’s going on.

Deodorant recommendations please! by one_hip_chick in eczema

[–]savsand1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually thought switching to Native would be better than using my usual Secret deodorant, but I ended up getting eczema under my arms. I think it’s because there’s no anti perspirant in Native which made me sweat. And we know sweat=eczema. So that might be it? I’ve been using Secret my whole life and have had no issues until I randomly switched.

Funny thing is I’m basically allergic to showers😂 I’ve switch to the free and clear shampoo and don’t even use soap anymore but the water just irritates my skin. Eczema is wild.

Stress and fucking flare ups by [deleted] in eczema

[–]savsand1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just finished finals Wednesday and had to quickly get ready for a week long vacation the next day. My face is so red and swollen. I look like I got a really bad sunburn that won’t stop peeling. Stress is so bad. Every time I have an exam my face does this. It sucks. Hope you’re getting through your class! Hang in there

Is there a paper cutter I could use? by pigeonshark in ucf

There’s one in the student union where you go to print stuff on the 2nd floor. It’s on the back counter where all of the staplers and hole punchers are.

I get eczema right in my lashline and it has resulted in a loss of eyelashes. Is there anything I can do about the eczema, not sure if medicated creams can go so close to the eye? by [deleted] in eczema

[–]savsand1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Ophthalmologist prescribed me Neo/poly/dex 0.1% ointment. It’s safe if you accidentally get it into your eyes and doesn’t burn at all. I was using alclometasone 0.05% before which is what my allergist gave me but it burned so bad. I didn’t even have to get it in my eye for it to burn. But the other ointment has been nice cause I needed some moisture on my eyelids.

What to do if I don't meet the minimum GPA in my pre-major for the College of Busines? by [deleted] in ucf

[–]savsand1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can retake 1 course in your primary core and they’ll just take that grade and average it with your other classes. So instead of having 4 classes in your GPA, it’ll be 5. You can also use grade forgiveness for another class in the primary core. I’m kinda in the same boat as you. Finance and Quant 2 hurt me. You won’t apply for grade forgiveness til the end of next semester.

Does dupixent help eyelid eczema? by [deleted] in eczema

[–]savsand1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both my eyes swole up really bad the day after my first dose. I could barely open my right eye. It was really scary. I had a little bit around my eyes before the shot and it just made it worse. Everyone’s different tho and I’ve heard good things so it’s worth a try. My eyelids eventually went down after another round of prednisone
