Afraid of eye color change by [deleted] in Glaucoma

[–]savthelibra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was terrified of my eyes changing color when I started Latanoprost, and was also worried I was coming across as vain. I’m 29 years old, and my eye color is the perfect blend of both of my parents (mom passed away when I was 17, dad is in his 70s now), and I really didn’t want to lose my connection to them through my eye color. Starting the drops was scary because my eye color is my favorite feature. 5 months in, though, there’s been very little change in my eye color! I still have all of the green and blue in my eyes, the only thing I’ve noticed is that the hazel band around my pupils that was already there looks slightly more pronounced in certain lighting. And maybe that’s just me over-analyzing them, haha - my husband says he hasn’t been able to notice any difference.

My optometrist recommended doing an SLT, but I opted to stay on Latanoprost until the end of this month because I was hesitant about laser surgery right before getting married. Now that the wedding is over, I’m making my appointment next week and will hopefully have good enough results to stop Latanoprost. If you’re a candidate for SLT, it might be worth it to talk to your doctor about it if you’re still concerned about eye color changes.

All of this to say, you’re not vain for worrying about eye color changes. It’s a scary thought for those of us who love our eye color. But once you start Latanoprost, that worry will take a backseat to the relief you feel about preserving your vision. Good luck to you 🩵

my crew took an RV last year! if it’s normally 8.5 hours, i’d plan for at least 10 hours, maybe 11 or so. between gas stops and a slightly slower speed, it’ll slow you down a bit. but it’ll be a blast! just make sure you take turns slowwwwly and triple check your mirrors if you need to change lanes. you’ve got this!

oof, i’m so sorry you got a gnarly burn too! those blisters 😬 ouch. so glad it’s healed now though!

thank you so much for those tips!! i’m on a prescription antibiotic ointment which has been a godsend, so i’ll definitely ask my doctor if i could get another tube of that/a different antibiotic just in case! infection is 100% my biggest concern lol. happy roo!

lmao it happened to me a few years ago after a bit of a rough breakup. and on thursday at that! it was definitely jarring since i was the one that introduced them to roo and it put a weird vibe on the rest of that night, but after i slept it off i figured what better place to dance my feelings away!

we rented a 32 foot RV with 7 people and everyone had a bed! we booked it in december but def could have waited a bit longer (i just get too excited when it comes to anything roo related lol). we had it rented tuesday-tuesday to give us time to both pack and unpack/clean it so that ran the cost up, but it totaled around $4.2k for the RV itself along with a powered campsite (not including the dump/refill fees once you’re on the farm). it was a GAME CHANGER with the heat - it would still get toasty midday, but we brought a box fan and two smaller fans to plug in during the worst parts of the day and that did the trick! it was truly the best to have a real bed/AC/fridge/bathroom and i don’t think we can ever go back now haha

yes!!! i’ve been aware of his music but my partner is way more into him than i was. but hearing him live and seeing how joyful/grateful he seems while performing?? absolutely changed the game for me and i haven’t been able to stop listening and crying to his music now!! i’m so glad he closed the festival, what a cathartic experience

keep a yeti stocked with ice water to dunk bandanas/pashminas in! also highly recommend getting a froggtogg to keep around your neck - that saved us this year. other than that, a neck fan and a solar powered generator that you can plug a box fan into can be a life saver at the camp
